Cafe Bastille - Miami
We are in the heart of Downtown Miami proudly serving up authentic French and Mediterranean cuisine with a wide variety of wines and great ice cold beer. Come inside and enjoy a cozy atmosphere while you dine in or just pull up a chair on our outside sitting area for a leisurely Everyday brunch, lunch or dinner! Come and enjoy excellent food, great atmosphere and warm staff!
Several menu items were not available the night we had dinner there! The explanation was that the menu was brand new that morning. The food purveyor did not have time to deliver supplies. Sorry, thats a poor excuse, show the owners and chief just weren’t ready for the new menu!
Definitely my favorite spot in downtown Miami
Fresh food, great atmosphere, super nice staff members... highly recommended 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Love this place
Since the new owners took over, this place has completely changed! The food is delicious and the service very attentive. We had a great time, in a cosy place and very friendly staff. Will definitely go back more often.
Cafe Bastille is a nice little restaurant in Downtown Miami. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the new owners.
As appetizers we had beets with green beans and blue cheese, and also lentil soup. Then fillet mignon and salmon with lentils. Side order of french fries. All dishes were excellent, service was great. Wine was a decently priced Saint Julien 2012. We spend a great evening at Cafe Bastille.
Made a reservation and they called to confirm. Showed up and they were closed.
Nice service, nice little cafe dinner spot. Unfortunately the least french french restaurant. Food was ok and not very french. Would not go back.
Not to be overlooked. A gem in the heart of the city! We were in town to attend a concert. Family owned fine French food. We plan to make another trip soon.
It was Bastille Day and we read on Miami New Times that they were having a show with live music and free champagne. Got there and none of that. Just 1 table was occupied besides the one we got. Since we were already there we decided to stay thinking they maybe had a good dinner menu given the day, but they didn’t. Against my better judgement we spent on a full dinner service and none of us really liked the food. Escargot was salty, onion soup was the best thing I had. I ordered their $38 special of the day that was a ribeye and it was very mediocre. My husband had the salmon with lentils. Meh. My sister had the other special of the day that was sole fish with veggies and potatoes. Such a small portion of fish and veggies and potatoes for $25. The place is decorated nice so at least the ambiance was nice but the AC doesn’t work very well and in summer in Miami you can’t do without that. The lady that served us was very nice. We were very disappointed with the experience overall and it sucks to go out for a nice evening dinner with certain expectations of food and entertainment and not get either.
Made reservations before show at the Olympia Theater. Great proximity. Unfortunately, some of the waitstaff did not show causing delay in everything from water to food to check. After 2 hours we had to leave without completing our meal.
Food was good but service soured our expectations. Waitress was friendly enough but she was overwhelmed beyond functionality.
Sorry but the food was just mediocre. I was surprised (unpleasantly) to walk in at 8:15 pm and discover every table empty. That's never a good sign.
I love this place. Is cozy, romantic, excellent service and amazing food,
We arrived at the Cafe Bastille the appointed day/time ( Sat 23Feb at 7.30pm) only to find it completely closed with all the lights out. Open Table did not warn us. I did make an e complaint to Open Table which was acknowledged but has so far not been responded to.
Was absolutely delicious!! The wait was a little long but sooooo worth it! Lovely waitress and wonderful wine!!
We were there on a Sunday during the Miami Boat Show weekend. The Boat Show moved from Miami Beach to a location well served by the area for the first time. Everyone from the InterContinental to this restaurant underestimated the impact of the Boat Show crowd so the sole server working that night was overwhelmed but did the best that she could with a smile and good grace.
While the service was understandably slow given the circumstances, the food was exceptional and very authentic. We split the fois gras to start and had both the tuna and the steak tartare. Everything tasted just right with all of the right textures. The portions are large and we could easily have split one starter and one main.
We will be back in April. I would recommend that people who look at a meal as an event rather than an efficient nourishment process should give the place a fair chance. People who want their meal to be finished in 30 minutes should give it a miss.
LOUSY SERVICE. HOSTESS WOULD NOT SERVE WATER CHEF WHO OWNS RESTAURANT WAS SLAMED AND IT WAAS A TERIBLE EXPERIENCE
Everything was exceptional and our waitress was so kind.
Extremely disappointed when the bill came and the special that I’d ordered was priced at $56. Completely surprised by the price. It was a simple Seabass dish. Highest prices on the regular menu is around $35 so pricing was nearly double.
I wasn't sure how the 'Noise Level' is rated. I selected a low bar to indicate the noise level was low/fine.
This is an intimate, very French feeling restaurant. We very much enjoyed our Valentine's dinner. The chocolate dipped strawberries were a nice touch. (although we found it odd that they brought them as soon as we sat down, and not AFTER dinner!)
We had a 5:00 reservation -- very early, as we we were going to a concert after. They were open but seemed not quite ready for guests. E.g., there was a sign outside offering a glass of champagne with an entree. When we asked about it they said 'that was from this morning'. Also, the menu printed on the chalkboard was not accurate. Apparently it was from earlier in the day or the day before.
These are small items but I think worth mentioning, because they are very easy to fix, which would create a more professional atmosphere, instilling confidence in the patrons.
We would go back if we are in the area again.
Muy bien sin llegar a excelente
The food dishes had excellent true flavor to the ingredients used.
Spectacular! Haven’t been disappointed yet
I eat at Bastille all the time. It is by far the best restaurant in all of Miami - this is coming from a foodie.
Was looking for a nice restaurant near the hotel that wasn't going to cost a lot of money and that I didn't have to get too dressed up for. This place was walking distance from the Intercontinental and easy to locate. The decor was upscale without being pretentious. I was one of 3 people dining at the time but it was early for dinner in Miami. It was cozy and warmly lit - a nice atmosphere. But enough about that...The food was EXCELLENT! The home-made pate was delish and my steak was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of seasoning. I could not eat dessert (too full!!!). It was an excellent meal with a couple glasses of wine and completely reasonably priced compared to some of the other more "high-end" restaurants in the area. I would definitely go back another time I am in Miami.
The restaurant is a small neighborhood restaurant. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. The music was a bit load when we arrived and not soothing, however, it was corrected immediately. The food was prepared as ordered and was very tasty. We had the pate for starter it was delicious. I had a fish special and my husband had steak. Both were seasoned well and were yummy. I would recommend this restaurant to diners out on a date night.
Wonderful experience. Nice service, gorgonzola beef, spaghetti pomodoro, bruschettas in a perfect presentation, temperature and taste! Highly recommended!
Mildly disappointing. I went in the early evening and only one other table was occupied, which meant that there was zero atmosphere. The staff were efficient enough but not particularly friendly and didn't smile very much. Maybe it's better at lunchtime?
Great food, great service, awesome NYE dinner option
Very nice bistro at downtown Miami. And the price is also good.
The food was okay, although one of the side dishes was brought out as an appetiser and then the mains were served before the table had finished the starters. The main issue was that there were cockroaches in the restaurant and when we made the owner aware he said it was Miami and it was normal! The casual disregard for cleanliness was disconcerting to say the least and made us worried about the state of the Kitchen. The arrogance and disrespectfulness of the staff was quiet shocking. Needless to say we took desert elsewhere.
I love this place,
We found this while searching for a place to eat before a concert at the James L. Knight center. It's a short walk away and I love French food so we reserved our table. We were so glad we did as the food was excellent. The filet was cooked to perfection and melted in our mouth. The sides were also amazing. Just an all around great place. We live about an hour away but will be returning in the near future. I highly recommend this place.
They had the best Steak Tartar that I’ve ever had...and I’ve had it in Paris!!!
Excellent. Nice place. Good food. Cozy, warming
wonderful bread and service. french music in the background. prices very fair
Marcelle was excellent and the food delicious. A hidden jewel in downtown Miami.
The Host was not friendly and payed attention to cell phone. Possibly had a waiter on his first day of work without training. Date had to get parched-throat before water was provided. Waitress would not assist when asked nor when our waiter disappears. Let me stop...
Food was garbage. Tasteless.
The food was perfect. A gem in Downtown Miami. I took my two best friends here based on reviews and it was a homerun! My one bestie said her filet was the best she had ever eaten. (And we are total foodies!) I will be eating here every time I am in Miami.
Cafe Bastille is a terrific find in downtown Miami! We were greeted warmly by Romeo and invited to choose our seats. We were presented with the memu and invited to select our wines. We each selected our appetizers and main courses.
In the meantime a basket of fresh French bread and a spread of black olives, oline oil and anchovies was offered to tantalize our tastebuds!
We started off with appetizers of fresh Octopus salad and Bacon with a fresh green salad and goat cheese on toasted French bread. They were delicious .
The main course arrived which consisted grilled wild salmon in a Phyllo pastry on a bed of seasoned lentils which was delectation le
