Café Bar Pasta is a unique Italian-inspired eatery that serves authentic recipes with some Japanese twists, courtesy of Chef Jay Scaife. The restaurant’s specialty is its homemade pasta dishes. The pasta is made fresh from scratch, using whole eggs and imported Le 5 Stagioni OO flour, which gives it an authentic Italian texture. Try a light starter like Brussels sprout salad with cider gastrique, blonde frisee, radicchio, cashews and taleggio or green kale Caesar salad with a creamy dressing, cured shaved duck egg yolk, white anchovy and grana padano. A couple of the popular entrées at Café Bar Pasta include tortellini with tomatoes, black olives, basil, capers, parmesan broth and egg fried white anchovies, and seasonal dry aged Canadian ribeye.
Such a wonderful restaurant - food is creative and delicious, the atmosphere is inviting and the staff is absolutely amazing. Can't say enough great things about it!

We enjoyed our Valentine's meal although the menu was very limited and as a vegetarian I had only one option for my main course.
The starter arrived immediately after our bread and oil, although the waiter could see we were still eating, and we had to cram everything onto the table.
The atmosphere was rushed, the waiters rushed around like there was an emergency and spoke so fast we could hardly understand them. The music was pretty loud and fast at the start of the evening although it did slow down later making it feel more relaxed. We liked the small size of the restaurant.
All the food was absolutely delicious and well presented. The steak had no vegetables on the side so my date wasn't quite full, but my gnocchi was just the right amount.
The red wine was lovely and paired very well with the food.
Overall we really enjoyed our food, and recommend this restaurant, but felt the staff could have relaxed a bit more.
This is my go to place for dates, or girls night. Food is impeccable, wine list is awesome and service is fantastic.
Gnocci was non-traditional and fantastic! Incredibly creative, I'd return just for that dish.
Second visit and although I do like this spot (first visit was phenomenal), there were a few let downs this time.
Kale salad changed completely at this visit - old version was much better.
Time limit - totally cool with this but our mains arrived a good 25 mins after we were done our salads and then we were being rushed (no delays with our ordering either).
So yah, a bit let down.
Service was great. Very nice and attentive staff. Knowledgeable about every ingredient from each delicious dish out of the kitchen. Steak tartare was great, pasta very yummy. Portions were very generous.
The food is amazing. One of the best in the city. If someone can make brussel sprouts the best dish I've had in the city all year is a food magician.
This was the 3rd or 4th time I've eaten at this little Gem on Dundas, and my wife and I couldn't have been happier. We spent the entire trip home in our UBER (NOT taxi) raving over the experience and the entire next day telling our friends how wonderful our night was. The food is as good as I've had in this or any other city. Chef Jay Scaife really knows his stuff and the execution on our dishes was flawless. I would go into detail about our specific dishes but I'd rather you just go find out for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

Great food, good portions and good wine. Poor service though. Wasn't busy but we kept on sitting there waiting for service. Seemed strange.
Everything from the decor to the service was excellent. The food itself was amazing. Creative, fun yet very sophisticated flavor and techniques.
Just dined here this last weekend and had a really fun, filling and delectable evening. The service was outstanding, very attentive without being overly so and highly intuitive. Presentation was spectacular but wasn't purely for show as the flavours on the plate worked so well together. We had the Steak which was so tender (55 day aging?) and the agnolotti was spectacular as well. We drank mostly cocktails, a few house specialties, but they had enough of a back bar to accommodate classic and modern classic cocktails. They surprised us with a free desert for sharing which was also much appreciated. The decor should also be noted as it really stood out and was part of the charm and ambiance. Definitely recommended.

You will enjoy great Italian food along with great service and ambiance. The owner approached us as we were leaving to ensure that we were happy with everything. He also told us of his plans to have a roof top garden next year!
We finally tried out Cafe Bar Pasta a few months ago and were really impressed. The service was on point, both attentive and knowledgable. They had delicious cocktails and wines on tap. The food was delicious - with classics like carbonara and steak tartare with refined, modern twists.
This visit did not disappoint, with delicious dishes, generous portions and seats at the chef's table in the back.
We'll definitely be back to work our way through the menu!
Had a very good experience. Staffs were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. They took time to explain the menu to us. They also announced and explained each dish when we were being served. I was asked for my feedback on a cocktail and bartender quickly remade one that tailor to my taste.
The pastalicious menu was just great value and great opportunity for anyone to try this restaurant because you sure will be coming back! We all chose their special $25 two courses menu. We all had different appetizers and entrees; we were a party of 3, six different dishes and we were impressed with all! The appetizers were creative and interesting. The entree/pasta dish was solid with good ingredients and full of flavor.
It was our first time visiting and we sure will return for more!
No comment. the rent must be so expensive that customer have to pay 20$ for 3 raviolis. we had to go to Mc donalds afterwards. what a shame seriously.
Limited menu. Staff do try to accommodate food sensitivities. Ot all dishes were a success. Service excellent. Unfortunately, noise level is such that conversation not possible. Request to lower the music level was met with "unable to do so because it was programmed that way and can't be changed".
Dined at Café Bar Pasta with a good friend food was absolutely delish we shared 4 dishes. I was quite impressed with the fact that they had wine on tap. Service was outstanding... looking forward to going back soon as its also only a 10 minute walk from my house.
Our dining experience at Cafe bar Pasta is excellent! We were impressed by the prompt and attentive service and the knowledge of the servers on both the food menu and the wine list. great recommendation for wine. The braised beef pasta and the gnocchi were outstanding. Ravioli was excellent but could have been a slightly bigger portion - excellent, fun vibe. Prices good - Great value! Would come again.
The appetizers are Japanese in style, while the pasta is definitely Italian. Both were well cooked and had great flavours. Service was prompt and friendly. I would go back.
Warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Great food and a wonderful wine list with an emphasis on the best Ontario has to offer. I've been three times and will return as soon as possible.
Cafe Bar Pasta is a true food experience with great service, great food, and great design. I was pleasantly surprised with the creative menu and well chosen wine list. The hand made drinks were amazing. Presentation of the plates in unique for each dish, serving on boards, planks, unique dishwater, all carefully thought out. The taste of the food is the best part, a real tastebud explosion. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys fine foods, great service and a pleasing environment.
The food was mediocre. Needs improvement. Our server was in the weeds and as a result she was rude. The playlist was poor and the volume was way too high. If the music had been good - then volume wouldn't have mattered. Hard to carry on a conversation. I would not recommend or go back. Too bad because I was looking forward to giving it a try.
A positive - Space was cool.
The menu was new, it seems, but did not match the type of food I was expecting. The menu I had viewed online was not available (and looks like has still not been updated). Many dishes had a propensity for the sweet side (beef agnolotti with white chocolate/salsify sauce) and the lamb shank "lasagna" also had a sweet flavour in the sauce which made it difficult to enjoy. We were also looking at the gnocchi but our server let us know it is sweet due to the sweet potato and the ameretti.
The food we were looking for was more simple, robust flavours you expect from Italian eateries, however, the dishes seemed overworked and a little all over the place.
The service was excellent but I don't think I will be back because of the food.
The decor and setting was great, comforting, inviting and relaxing.
We ordered cocktails to start, the old fashioned and a bourbon-plum drink. The old fashioned was good but the bourbon plum was on the bitter side.
The starters were a mozzarella, tomato, arugula pesto salad and the lobster lollipops. Lollipops were delicious but the tomatoes in the salad were dry and melee.
The mains were a cauliflower nocchi and the Alberta striploin with a spinach puree, asparagus. Both the mains were good.
Dessert was one of each of a blue cheese cheesecake and (I can't remember, carmel something), cheesecake was different and a pleasant change up and the other had no problems being eaten.
The espresso was also delicious.
Servers were attentive throughout the evening.
Great space, great vibe, service and food! We have been looking forward to dining here for a while and were very impressed with everything.
