Cafe Baci Ratings and Reviews
My mom wanted to go here for her birthday. She had been before but we hadn’t. Staff was super nice , friendly , helpful etc but food was just ok. Nothing was bad , but not great, just fine. The overall consensus was lack of seasoning in everything. There are lots of Italian restaurants in the city, so don’t need to go back here.
Cafe Baci continues to be one of our Sarasota local favorites. It does not disappoint. The servers were cordial and attentive to our every request and need. All 4 of the persons in our party had different main courses that were prepared perfectly. The chicken parm was exceptional. The large house salad split for 2 persons is very good. The restaurant was nicely decorated for the holidays.
We really enjoyed our dinner here. Our server was Jodie and she was wonderful. My husband had the lasagne and loved it. I had the fettuccine special and it was delicious. The atmosphere is quiet so you can converse with your dining companions. We will definitely be back.
Waitress busy with other tables, we were seated in back corner of restaurant ordered PFixd turkey dinner supposed to in mashed potatoes but it did not apparently they ran out but chose not to mention it. The service was poor however ALL of our food was delicious.
Able to hear conversations. Good value, house Italian wine $18 per bottle. Didn’t feel rushed. Received complimentary antipasti plate appetizer. Arugula Gorgonzola salad delicious, flounder was very good. Ended meal with coffee and cheesecake and chocolate cake. All delicious. Drove over an hour to get there, met friends that came from over an hour in the other direction!
I was disappointed in the temperature of my order. The salmon was well done, not medium rare as I had ordered. The second try was a bit better.
Service was excellent. Very good waiter. I tasted my husband's grouper and found it to be dry, over salted and very fishy.
We went for the early bird special, which provides three courses and many options. I always order the Flounder Francaise because it's so fresh and tasty. The portion was so huge, I took 3/4ths of it home. Our friends both ordered the veal piccata and lapped it all up. My husband had an eggplant parmigiana and raved about the eggplant being so tender. The plate of pasta that came with it was enough for the whole table. Needless to say, our friends want to go back. Oh, did I mention that you can get a bottle of decent wine for only $12?
Same experience as always - probably our favorite dining spot. But this dinner was a 90th birthday celebration with 7 people - 5 daughters from across the nation and a spouse. Two people or seven people - the same great, attentive service (thanks, Suzanne!).
Good food; the prices are reasonable and the portions are very generous. Service was excellent, friendly but professional. Lovely decor. Nice ambiance. Some very nice touches: complimentary antipasto if book through open table; complimentary delicious dessert, large enough to share, because we were celebrating an anniversary.
A Sarasota institution , serving mediocre Italian food for the masses for many years. The food is uninspired and the service is "diner" quality. Entree prices are high for meals that are "just OK". Early bird special is nothing special. If you truly desire GOOD Italian food go elsewhere.
The food was excellent, especially the surprise antipasto that came with the open table reservation. The service was outstanding. Our waitress was personable and made good recommendations. She had the kitchen “save” 2 portions of Osso Bucco for our table. It was an excellent evening of dining.
Driving by Cafe Bachi on busy Tamiami Trail in Sarasota, FL , one would hardly notice the restaurant. However, as any successful restaurant owner will tell you, "it's what's on the inside that counts". For starters, the staff is friendly, attentive, but not overbearing. The interior is tastefully decorated and designed for comfort. Most of all, the accustics are incredible. The dining room was fully occupied, yet my wife and I could carry on a conversation without shouting across the table. I mentioned it was our 40th anniversary and within minutes after being seated our server placed a tasty appetizer on the table. After dinner we received a complimentary teramsu desert. My wife's dinner was delicious, but mine was disappointing. I ordered grouper which is very popular in Florida, but the sauce left a lot to be desired. It wasn't terrible, but I would not order it again. Personal taste is a difficult target for any chef. After all is said and done, I would definitely return. If you want to dine out, Cafe Bachi is a great choice. Can't wait to return!!
Cafe Baci is our go-to Italian restaurant in Sarasota. Our food is consistently prepared so well, with so much flavor. The atmosphere is nothing beachy -- it's Italian! and it's fun. We have always had excellent service as well. The prices aren't low, but they aren't TOO high either.
