Café Ba-Ba-Reeba Ratings and Reviews
We have been coming here for many years and were disappointed in the meatballs. Our first order was cold. Our second order was warm tasted watery and warm. The lamb was good and our waiter was knowledgeable about the wine. Have had better food on previous visits.
We have been to Ba-Ba-Reeba quite a few times before and this experience was very underwhelming from the moment we walked inside. We had a 7:00 reservation on a Saturday night; showed up at 6:50 to have them tell us our table would be ready in a few minutes. It was 40 minutes later when we were finally seated despite our reservation. Once we were seated we placed our order. The manager came to our table to apologize for the delay in being seated and said the patatas bravas and dessert would be on him. We were grateful to hear this but come to find out at the end of the meal, this took extra work on our part. When our bill came out the patatas bravas were on our ticket and only the desserts had been comped. I told our waiter and he said he would take care of it. Meanwhile I wrote my LEYE check-in code and birthday reward at the bottom of the receipt...these were totally ignored when our bill was processed. Another error that we had to wait 10 minutes to be fixed.
While the food was good, as usual, the service was absolutely terrible and disappointing. Don't know if the food is enough to draw us back after that service.
Loved Cafe ba ba Reeba! Went on a double date with close friends and everything was amazing and they have pretty fair prices, especially for the city. Our reservations were a bit delayed as they were so busy but we got drinks while we waited and once we were seated the service was outstanding. Worth the drive to the city and the wait!! A must try! will be going back.
This used to be one of my favorite places...I was very disappointed in the food...the Potato Bravas seemed pre-made...not fresh...the sauce not so good...and my absolutely favorite dish was the Brussel Sprout Salad with Marcona Almonds and Manchengo cheese...well, it was awful...again seemed pre-made..the brussel sprouts were hard to find with way too much cheese and dressing ...seemed much richer than before...not many almonds...the server brought me another, but it really was not much better...needless to say I was very disappointed!
This restaurant appears on many must-visit lists in Chicago so my expectations were high considering all of the "hype" and it met those expectations! This place is great value ($6 for a large plate of DELICIOUS patatas bravas) and the pitcher of sangria ($27) easily gave 4 of us a refill or 2. All tapas we ordered were really good, the food came pretty quickly and our waiter checked on us regularly to see if we wanted to order more. I went with my parents, brother and grandmother and it was a perfect meal for everyone. I highly recommend it!!!
One of my favorite restaurants for tapas in the Lincoln Park/Lakeview Area! The service is great, even when it's near capacity and the food never disappoints. I always recommend this location to students in the area because it's affordable and even offers discounts for certain schools!
We came to Cafe Ba Ba Reeba for a light, late night bite after agroup of friends left a Gallery Exhibit a few blocks away. The waiter was very good, as were other staff and the atmosphere was nice enough. They need to invest in some improved chairs for their tablesbecause they are not at all comfortable.
The food came out quickly and was tasty. We shared a paella. If you order paella for two the portion is large and eaily feeds three. The small plates we tried were classics like the bacon wrapped dates - delicious, the goat cheese in tomato and the beef tenderloin with blue cheese. They have such a nice menu of tapas - and we should go there again to try others because it had been years since we had been there. I do not think much of anything had changed in the years we had been away.
They do have valet but for $15! Street parking is available within about a block for the usual pay-to-park prices. Again, I wish they would invest in sprucing the place up a bit by re-investing some profits. Not a really comfortable place in terms of ambience and the furniture, but we did enjoy the classic dishes they continue to have.
No stairs to enter but a couple of stairs between various of the seating areas inside. The bathrooms are downstairs but they allow handicapped to use the employee bathroom on the main floor level so they can avoid stairs.
Ba-Ba-Reeba is one of our go-to spots in the neighborhood. This visit was part of a family "tradition" - we always come here for lunch/dinner after I do a crafting class at the nearby Paper Source. Its a lovely place for me to recount my experience at the class to my husband.
ZERO COMPLAINTS! I have Celiac, and they were MORE than accommodating. Gluten free bread at no extra cost. Traditional sangria was delish. The scallops tapa was to die for, and everything else we ordered was so good too! Extremely knowledgeable waitress, very helpful busboys that came around often (as tapas came out at different times thorughout the evening - though somehow in the perfect order!) The atmosphere is fun but can also be romantic, without being stuffy.
We overall had a great experience at Cafe-Ba-Ba-Reeba, but the only reason I don't give it a 5 is because I am gluten intolerant and I was told I would be brought gluten free bread with my meal and when the plate showed up I assumed the bread on the plate was gluten free like I was told it would be, but then the waitress brought over the gluten free bread fifteen minutes later after I had already eaten the regular bread. It was disappointing that they were not as conscious of allergies as I would have liked, but the rest of the meal and service was perfect.
