What Insiders Are Saying
Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba is a tapas restaurant that's been around for a long time. It's ideal for a lot of occasions.
We had an amazing time from the stellar service to the awesome food quality, all was spot on. We ordered bacon wrapped dates, spicy potatoes, garlic shrimp, classic red sangria, short ribs, chicken paella and my favorite was the octopus! Can’t go wrong with any of it. Finally, butterscotch desert was the bomb. Soooo goood!
We had a good time! Food came out promptly.
The food and the service were impeccable. Those manchego mashed potatoes were dreamy. We made a reservation and only had to wait about 10 minutes for our table. Considering how busy they were, I would say that wasn't too bad. The noise did make it hard to hear each other and our waitress but the delicious food made up for it. Go there! You won't be disappointed!
Cafe BaBaReeba is our go-to place for consistent, flavorful, Spanish food. So much so, we held our rehearsal dinner here!
great food and service. wish the four of us had more room to try even more than we did. the peach sangria was terrific (though skip the basic red sangria).
I highly recommend this place. Food was sooo goood!! We had red Sangria and it was great as well. The price is fair! Will be back for sure.
It was a delicious first dinner in Chicago!
Our waiter was great at helping to navigate the menu and find items that could be made dairy free. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was great! Definitely a great place to catch up with old friends.
Food is good but they are busy. Even when you make a reservation you have to wait.
Food was too overpriced for the quantity and quality. Food was pretty cheap tasting and only came with one-person servings (even though the waitress said they were for 2-3 people). For example, I ordered "empanadas de carne" and it only came with one but costed almost $8. The only thing worth it was the paella because it was good and came with a lot but honestly, you're better off going to a small, family restaurant that serves the same food at a cheaper price and with bigger servings.
Have been going for over 20 years, never disappoints!
Never disappointed there - the food is amazing and the service is great.
I made the reservation for 8 people at 7:00, we then had additional people to join our party and I called and said we would be having 12 the day before. When we all arrived at the restaurant for our reservation at 7:00 we checked in and were greeted with an extremely rude response that told us “because YOU changed your group number you’re going to have to wait at least a half hour”. I was very upset that they first blamed us and then next went on to push our reservation back. I completely understand ya adding people to the reservation may not have been easy however we called more than a day in advance and I was not given any pushback whatsoever when changing the reservation. Not only did we get delayed in sitting down when we went to check they constantly just said “cleaning off your table now”. There was no manager around to speak with and we finally sat down at 7:55 for our 7:00 reservation with no amends or apologies for the horrible service and treatment.
Good afternoon, We're sorry to hear of your recent less than acceptable experience with us, especially in regards to the service you received at the host stand. We always try to exceed our guests' expectations but unfortunately, sometimes fall short. Would you be willing to provide your contact information so we can have our General Manager get in touch? Thank you for your time, and we look forward to hearing from you. Cafe Ba Ba Reeba
Great food and ambiance! It gets messy around hostess desk as it gets crowded. Also the writer was a bit too persistent asking to box our leftovers many times.
Always amazing service and food. Great space to catch up with friends over sangria.
I had not been there in a long time. I was not disappointed. The food and service was wonderful! Will definitely be back soon!!
Amazing food, very fast service. We loved the burrata with tomato toast, the garlic shrimp, and the manchego stuffed mushrooms. There are plenty of vegetarian and seafood options. There was a reception in the room next to us, which made it pretty loud, but it didn't really bother us. Highly recommend!
Great Experience! Love BaBaReeba
Top quality in terms of food and service, as usual. My only complaint is we were seated next to an extremely obnoxious group who were alarmingly loud.
Great food, great service. Can’t wait to come back!
Wide array of gluten free options. Expectional service and food.
Went on a Wednesday night- food came out very quickly and was excellent.
Every experience at Ba-Ba-Reeba is amazing. The staff knows their product, they’re excited about it. And the food is always exceptional and fun to try!
The food is always great. The sangria always needs to be stronger, although it is delicious. Service is wonderful but it does get hot inside. It's worth it for the food.
This was truly a wonderful experience. Our visiting family were totally impressed with the food and service we received, as was I. Amy, our waitress was friendly and accommodating. Everyone loved the dishes they ordered- we all shared multiple different tapas plates of shrimp, octopus, squid, beef on skewers, marinated beef, etc. SOOOO, delicious. My daughters ordered the Butternut squash soup which the both raved about. We will be back again.
Great atmosphere and service!
Everything we order was excellent with exception of the calamari, over fried and too oily as a result.
Food was delicious. Drinks were great. Price was just a little expensive for how much food you get
The deviled egg was tasteless, the calamari was overcooked.

My 2nd visit here. Met my son and his friend here while I was visiting the city. Did not disappoint. Love the sangria and shrim n grits! Deviled eggs are heavenly!!!
Had a group of 5 people and got 7 or 8 small plates to sample all types of food. We were satisfied with everything we got except ordering a side of potatoes because they came with multiple other dishes.
Great spot, food was great but felt rush by the waitress multiple times

Food was perfect, service was great, our waitress was very knowledgeable about menu.
One of my new favorite places in Chicago! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I can't wait to go back and try the paella!
The white peach sangria is where it’s at. We loved all our little plates, but the octopus was the show stopper.
Food is great and service is fast. Love the sangrias!!
Brunch with the family.
My first experience at this restaurant was amazing. My waitress took great care of me. I’ll definitely come back again.
