Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba is a tapas restaurant that's been around for a long time. It's ideal for a lot of occasions.
Such a wonderful place. Especially if you're looking for something interesting and very good food. you will not be disappointed.
Food was amazing as always, but the service was wayyy too fast. We were brought all of our dishes at once and it was a bit overwhelming & crowded at the table. I felt like we couldn't slow down and enjoy each other's company. Nonetheless, a great value for a fun dinner.
Left feeling SO full but was so worth it. Drinks wise we got the white peach sangria and it was great. Food wise the papás bravas were INCREDIBLE and so was the goats cheese baked in tomato. There were a ton of vegetarian options. Overall highly recommend
Was tremendously disappointed in the food, very very subpar in flavor. I had very high expectations considering many friends had raved about it. The service was amazing. I’d go to Cafe Iberico for tapas over this restaurant. Will not be back to Ba-BaReeba.
We love this spot! Great atmosphere and we’ve always had top-notch service!
Dinner overall was excellent. The server was wonderful with advising us in our dietary restrictions and made all necessary modifications we needed. Drinks were of great value, well made and large. Please note that the paella takes about 30 minutes to make so take that into account when ordering and deciding the pacing of your meal. The paella was outstanding with a nice layer of soccarat which is then scraped from the pan and mixed into the rice. The white anchovy pan de tomat is just ok although the actual anchovies were very good. Octopus with giardiniere and short rib with manchego mashed potatoes were both excellent.
Phenomenal - not one bad thing to say about the food, service, atmosphere etc
Johnny was a gem! He gave us great suggestions and came by routinely to make sure we were taken care of.
Drinks weren't good
Food was better
2 ppl ate for around 50$
Delicious food and a very energetic atmosphere! Had a great time!
Excellent food and service.
We were lucky to have made a last-minute reservation while walking from the train stop. It was packed! Our party of 6 was looking for good food before going to Kingston Mines for some Blues music (highly recommend). Very nice tapas menu and each item was flavorful. Decent gluten-free menu and our waitress brought out gluten-free bread without our asking! We only had one gluten-free person in our party and she had more than enough tapas to fill her up. Cocktails were yummy as well.
The pinxtos sampler and pineapple-serrano caipirinha were delicious. The pastry on the empanadas was perfect.
Had a great time and will return again.
If you are visiting Chicago as a tourist like us or full time resident you will be thrilled with your experience at Ba-Ba-Reeba!! The energetic atmosphere immediately welcomes you as you open the door. Stacks of small plates in the middle of the table were soon filled with a diverse selection of Tapas. The pacing of the arrival was perfectly managed by the wait staff who flow as a team to make the evening exceptional! We were there to celebrate a special birthday for our 16 year old granddaughter, she loved the experience trying many flavors for the first time. The execution of the food was outstanding along with the staff. Lifetime memory for our family. Thank You!!!!!
What can you say about Café Ba-Ba-Reeba? It’s been open for at least 30 years and continues to be fully booked almost all the time. That’s because the tapas are great! It’s become a tradition.
I love cafe ba-ba-reeba. It is one of my two favorite restaurants. I'm kind of annoyed however because the last TWO times I went the hostess told me that dessert would be on the house, so we ordered it, and then when the bill came it was on the bill. Like I said the restaurant is amazing but this is an annoyance I have had to deal with twice in a row.
Still a favorite after many years. Brought the kids for the first time and they LOVED it. Youngest enjoyed the kid's vegetable paella. Favorites included the patatas bravas and the buttermilk chicken in piri piri sauce. The sangria is delicious and we love ending the meal with a glass of red wine and the chorizo wrapped dates.
Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba is my go-to for every birthday and anniversary, and it did not disappoint this year. The mango sangria was delicious, and the beef short ribs were so tender. But the big winner for me is always the spicy potatoes -- so perfectly crispy and spicy that my husband and I ordered two servings!
We went to Babba Reeba's on a recommendation and we really enjoyed it. When we went back with our 24 yr. old son and he loved it. The appetizers (aka Tapas) are expensive. 2.50 each but literally a mouthful. I think only one of them could be called two bites although that's how they describe them all. They are very tasty with a pretty presentation. The Paella was outstanding. I would drive forty-five minutes to a restaurant to eat it. We had a few appetizers each and then the three of us shared the Paella for two and we were good not stuffed but happy. I would recommend this place. Crowded but very small wait. We made reservations in advance but there was not a line on Friday at 6:30 pm.
Food is delicious! Sangria is great! No complaints here!
Amazing food and Sangria!!
We ordered way more tapas than we could eat... and then ate them all because they were all so good. Favorites were the scallops and the beef and blue cheese.
Fun, relaxing atmosphere. Delicious tasting menu you can try so many different things. And great service!
Great food and and overall experience. White Peach Sangria also a hit!
We loved the Tapas Brunch - delicious food and a fun change
It was my first time there and it was amazing! I heard about the sangria and it more than lived up to the hype. Looking forward to going back again.
Always great food and service! The waiter was on top of it... Did I mention the food was great!
Lamb was seasoned well and cooked just right. Spicy potatoes, croquetas, empanada were very tasty.
Great food and service, accomodating to our 1.5 yr old too!
Amazing as always! Never disappoints
The food was isn’t what it used to be, some of the recipes seem to have changed. We’ve been coming for years and we’re really looking forward to reminiscing the great flavors since we hadn’t been here in a few years but we were sadly disappointed and probably won’t be returning again.
Food great but the chairs on the Patio are so uncomfortable - we had to get done ASAP. They are horrible.
Must try the bacon wrapped dates and the pork paella! The beef empanada was also very good! Will definitely be back soon!
The tapas we choose were all excellent. One of the best things about our experience was our server - Tabitha. Ask to be seated in her area and she will guide you through the menu, check on your progress and ensure that everything is delivered promptly and is to you liking - and she does it all with a smile.
Haven't been here in years and could kick myself for staying away so long. Food was fantastic. Only hitch was we ordered the potato onion omelette and it seemed like FOREVER before it was brought to the table. Our waitperson failed to mention how long it would take for that item. Other than that, everything we ordered - some brunch, some regular - was soooo good. Looking forward to going back real soon.
Plates and drinks came out quickly and the waiter was nice and friendly. Definitely coming back again, but be sure to make reservation a few days in advance as the prime time spots fill up very fast.
My favorite restaurant. Food is amazing. Sangria is a must.
