Cafe B Ratings and Reviews
Gabby was our server and she was great! I dined with 5 others and we were all unhappy with our food... food came out ice cold, bland to the taste and 2 of us ordered burgers medium well, but the patties were so thick that the only way to achieve this temperature was to basically char the outsides. We chose this place for the bottomless mimosas which we enjoyed. We would likely not come back because of the food.
There are simply too many good restaurants in New Orleans to waste money and gain calories. Fries soaked in garlic butter oil and I think the hollandaise sauce for dipping? Or was the sauce for killing the taste of the brussel sprouts? The skirt steak or I should say the pieces of skirt steak, cut thin and soaking in a plate of reduced plum sauce? I mean how disgusting is that! Scratch this food house of horrors off the list.
The food here is very good and not too far off the beaten track. They always have gumbo, and it's always good. (The potato salad in the gumbo is a bit unusual, but my husband likes it. I tried a brussel sprout salad which was very tasty. The service varies a bit, but is generally a bit better than average.
This restaurant is located in Old Metairie, so it's away from all the tourists. Locals love having a Brennan's restaurant right in their neighborhood. The quality of the food and service are impeccable, just as you always experience at restaurants owned and operated by the Brennan family. I have eaten here many times and have always had great dining experiences.
We had a great time celebrating my birthday. We started with a dozen raw oysters, very good. My wife had the grilled swordfish special while I had the hanger steak. Both meals were excellent. We finished with the birthday desert lagniappe, doberge cake.
We always have a great time at Café B!
Decent value for a Brennan eatery and food was very good, service was good and would go back. Everyone now is featuring brussell sprouts and they were fine. Didn't much care for the fries though, they were greasy. Overall it was pretty good, and it's in the neighborhood.
