Established in 1989, Cafe Avanti is in a league of its own. Fine traditional Italian cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. It's family owned and operated, and home away from home for Miami Beach locals. The staff is welcoming and hospitable, and are sure to make you feel like a regular even as a first time guest. Chef Constantino Cadavid has been at the helm of Cafe Avanti for over 21 years. It's reputation for consistency is like no other. From veal meatballs and tuna tartare, to osso bucco and frutta di mare, every dish is absolutely decadent. Desserts are homemade & the ricotta cheesecake is the best you will ever have. Parking is easy and meters are turned off at 6pm. Food was excellent and our waiter Desi was attentive, interesting, courteous plus he gave us the history of the father and daughter joining together in the restaurant Avanti after her education in our home town- Boston and her working experience at one of the best steak restaurants in Boston “Abe and Loui’s”. It was like I was back home in the north end of Boston.
This was our 4'th dinner at Cafe Avanti. The first time we "stumbled" across it...it was a holiday evening and very crowded and the waiters were working hard to keep up, but the food was fantastic and the desserts amazing. So we came back again, and then again and we'll be back often. The waiters are attentive, the menu is impressive and every thing we've tried (Veal Chops, Chicken, Steak, Salmon has been delicious. The wine list is extensive and best of all the prices are reasonable
Normally the food and service are excellent here. However, they were short-staffed and the service was below their standards (only two waiters for entire restaurant). Waited half hour before someone even poured water or gave us menus. Owner should have jumped in to help...
Avanti is one of the few reliable restaurants on Miami Beach. The chef has been there for decades, as have many of the servers. It never disappoints. High quality Italian cuisine, and a cozy atmosphere makes this restaurant a “go to” café for everyday dining. It’s not budget-fare, but you get what you pay for at Avanti, i.e. great food that doesn’t vary from one dining experience to another.
The food was delicious and the servings were generous. The service was excellent. They were friendly and attentive. It felt like a meal at a friend's home, if that friend had a fantastic home with great ambiance. There was low music in the background and lowlighting. The desserts and coffe were delicious too.
Dined with my two daughters on a Friday night. The staff lavished attention and time on some tables while neglecting other. Requests for bread, drink refills, etc. too far too long. Maybe this is a great place for locals who dine there often, but not for all female tourist groups looking for a nice meal.
Service was awful. We were placed at a corner table and were forgotten. Had to ask for our waiter to come back to take our order. No water refills and after the first glass of wine was poured, the waiter never came around to refill our glasses. Food was good, however, the grouper special of the night ($35) was undercooked and had to be sent back. We will go back to give it another try, people do have "off" days.
