About
We serve 100% grass-fed beef and pasture-raised chicken raised by highly-principled farmers in New England and New York. Our fish are caught wild and on lines, by New England fishermen on small boats. Our fresh vegetables and fruits are seasonal and come from small local farms committed to rebuilding soil health by permaculture and organic farming practices.
Our chef, Nadia Michaud, has led culinary programs in restaurants from Paris to Athens.
At Senses we believe that for the future of food to be good for us, and good for the planet, it will need to be accessible, affordable, and finally so sensorially beautiful, that it is irresistible.
Our waiter was one of the most unprofessional, rude members of a wait staff we had ever encountered--then we realized--the last bad experience we had in MA--he had been our waiter as well. (A restaurant in the North End!) Our appetite was already ruined by the waiter's condescending attitude, we then saw a mouse run across the dining room floor. That was it for us--we departed.
Food was amazing. Service exceptional! I am allergic to onions and usually I can't get many dishes from the menu. I could get what I wanted and it was delicious.
Wonderful lunch!
There are many things I like about Cafe Artscience. The service was impeccable, the food and drinks delicious, but the ambiance really undermined my overall experience. The space was lit too bright with white lights. Not sure if this is a scientific laboratory-like theme it is trying to pursue, but it is just not right for a restaurant. It took away the coziness and intimate feeling it could have created with dimmer, more subtle lighting.
While food was great, I guessed I came in with a higher expectation for experimental culinary science, which was not apparent in any dishes.
My husband and I came in to celebrate our anniversary and was looking forward to a unique experience. The moment we walked in we felt as if we were a bother and inconvenience to be there. Not one person greeted us as we stood at the bar and four employees were talking between themselves. When finally approached we were told the bar was rented for an event and couldn't be there. We informed them we has a reservation but no one was at the desk to assist with that. The shuffled us at a table dropped off menus and no one came back for quite someone time. no explication of the menu no concern at all about our experience. Long story short we were constantly reminded of the big party and how important they were, when they were ordering, what they were doing, because our experience had to be based on theirs and we felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable. . After spending $300 on dinner we were left feeling disappointed and quite turned off how we were treated.
Dead on a Thursday night. Muzak. $34 chicken. Nice waiter. Not worth the price.
One of my favorite Kendall Square restaurants
I highly recommend the burger.
Great experience, delicious food, energetic environment, friendly staff. 3-course dinner plus dessert was sufficiently filling. Great value for fine dining
Attractive space, good service, food wasn't inspiring but it was good. The restaurant has it's place to visit but not a go to spot for me.
Innovative cocktails.
It was great, my wife was super happy. Perfect place for a foodie. Exotic drinks and great tasting food.
the bar was missing some basic alcohol options. The cost was high $300 range for a party of 2. The proportions ware bistro small ( i guess is expected ) ambiace great. I'll would go back to try new food crations. Thank you.
Fantastic service and cocktails were amazing! The seasonal food was really well done, just wish they had a bigger menu! Such a cool experience, would definitely recommend!
This was a huge culinary disappointment. Maybe because the expectations were too high after reading several good reviews.
I had the "Heart of Ribeye" and didn't see any more science in the dish than the one I would find in any other restaurant.
The cocktails are definitely average. Too much alcohol kills the overall flavour.
Definitely overpriced.
Second time I go, as usual great staff and great food. Was a birthday dinner and they brought a desert. Overall I’m very happy with the experience and surely will recommend and visit again.
My husband recently got promoted and we celebrated at Cafe Artscience. When I had booked the reservation, I had asked for two of the most popular drinks to start the night off. They prepared the drinks and were very accommodating throughout the entire night. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this restaurant!
This has become one of our favorite lunchtime spots. The food is always excellent, the tables aren't crowded together, and it is quiet enough for conversation. The menu is innovative.
We chose Cafe Artscience for our 25th wedding anniversary having stumbled upon it during a walk this spring. It looked elegant so we booked it. It seems like an unrecognized gem in Cambridge. We were happy that it was not packed at 7pm but feel that somehow the Cambridge foodies are missing out. The food was surprising, interesting and delicious. The background music much more interesting than other restaurants. And, of course, the art installations were compelling. As pesco-vegetarians we did just fine with the menu. We'll be back. And we suggest that anyone having difficulty getting a reservation in the more "famous" Cambridge eateries, book Cafe Artscience. It's good!
Interesting and inventive creations. Very tasty. Far from your standard fare, but pleasing to the pallette! A bit pricey, but great for sampling and sharing. Come here for a culinary adventure in a neo-modern environment.
Sat at the bar for drinks, had some snacks. The service was wonderful! Attentive and funny bartender, made up drinks that were not on the menu to accommodate our requests.
The food we had was delicious as well.
Would definitely come here again!
I had wanted to go to this restaurant for some time and had seen good reviews. I was disappointed.
I ordered the lamb for dinner. The meal came out looking lovely but the lamb was the driest, stringiest piece of meat I have ever had. It looked and tasted as if it had been made several days ago and reheated several times in a microwave.
I will not be going back. The lone exception was the service. The waitstaff was very nice, attentive and efficient.
Absolutely delicious . Great craft cocktails and delicious and well presented dishes.
Great food, friendly atmosphere
Overpriced, very small portions that are more art and science than food. Food is visually pretty and interesting, but not that tasty.
Unbelievable. By far the most incredible culinary and dining experience I’ve had all year. Kudos to both the executive chef and the pastry chef for their imaginative cuisine. Thank you for providing us with such a unique dining experience!
Went here for Mother’s Day special and everyone in my party was super impressed - with everything! The service was patient and thorough; the food was delicious though a little pricey (an extra basket of starter pastries was $10); the cocktails were quite tasty; the ambiance was beautiful, making the rainy day way more palatable.
Food really tasted aweful and even though presentation is nice spending 120$ in a bad meal not worth it
Waiter didn’t know what vegetarian is kept giving to my son dishes that had fish octopus
Extraordinarily fine cuisine served with care and special attention. The craft cocktails menu was very creative, with something new and different for any discriminating palate. Seasonal ingredients perfectly prepared in appropriate portion sizes. A must visit in Cambridge.
Very nice space and the concept, but food was quite disappointing. I am willing to give them another try though
To be completely honest, the experience left me confused; I am not able to say if I liked it or not... The restaurant is a beautiful modern space, calm, and you will find the service very friendly and attentive if you need some help... About the food, I liked my four courses menu, except for the foie gras pancake which is uninteresting for my taste and too pricey for what it is...
But I possibly need to understand the chef cooking concept and personally, I‘ll return another time at this place, (maybe with the menu still on the table all along the experience this time), to make my opinion more clear... One sure thing: it challenges me!
I thought the food lacked flavor. Beautifully presented but left disappointed.
Beautiful!
The house cocktails are uniformly excellent, all fresh variations on classic cocktail themes, playful and with savoring. Attentive and friendly staff. The meal was sadly hit or miss, with some dishes confounding expectations without a corresponding payoff or main ingredients feeling water or ignored alongside very appealing accompaniments. Some interesting ideas but it never came together as a coherent meal, but also not a small plate or tasting menu.
From a previous experience my recommendation would be to enjoy the cocktails and more straight forward bar menu.
Only complaint was that we were too full at the end. SO GOOD!!! Thank you! We will be back next week table of 10.
The food and ambience were excellent, but the quality of service left much to be desired. While the staff was pleasant they seemed stretched and were MIA for long stretches. Perhaps they were understaffed that day. Drinks took forever to get to us...having been there in the past, I hope this is an anomaly
It was a mother-daughter night out and we had a wonderful time.
The service was impeccable.
The food menu was quite a departure from American foods. Love their menus! So very artistically done especially the cocktails named after animals.
We loved and enjoyed all the courses we ordered: Jonah Crab Day Boat Scallops and Quail & Halibut. And, the desserts: Scotch and Birch and Grapefruit Entremét were divine!
The check was quite a bit more than we were used to. Clearly. Yet, it was worth it for both of us. We'll definitely return for more! Hopefully soon.
Great food, went with a group of 6 and everyone enjoyed their dishes. We had wonderful service! And fun drinks! Will definitely go back!
Cafe Artscience is awesome. Great food & drinks and the service was excellent.
The Day Boat Scallops were delicious! Cafe Artscience brings a wonderful definition to the future of food.
Amazing cocktails. Awesome space. Good food. Great cheese.
Thoroughly enjoyed the meal -- from cocktails through to the desert. A bit higher price than anticipated but a very worthwhile experience. Give it a shot!
