1st visit but it has been on the list of places to try for awhile now. Should’ve come sooner. Great meal, great service.
Visited Beacon NY for my husband's birthday weekend and chose Cafe Amarcord for his birthday night...We were beyond pleased. I first loved the lighting and the attentiveness of the owner. Our server Zach was wonderful....personable, knowledgeable making fantastic recommendations. My husband had a magnificent veal chop cooked to perfection and I wanted to roll in my tuna entree. I also enjoyed the shredded brussel sprout salad with Parmigiano and tasted my husband's white asparagus with prosciutto. We enjoyed lots of good Italian wine and of course had a chocolate delight for his birthday. I really was impressed with this restaurant and would recommend and hope to return again!
Interesting menu, no shortage of choices, cozy atmosphere, warm lighting.
Loved the ambience and food. Our server, Zach, was attentive, knowledgeable, and very nice. Food was delicious! We live 50 min away, but look forward to making this a destination in the future.
Our second visit to Amarcord--first was during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week.
Food very good, well prepared, and a stellar wine list of affordable wines. If you want a bottle of wine with your meal, this place has tons of great options in the 30-45 dollar/bottle range.
I will note that both times there service was a bit relaxed ( as in, a bit slow), as you might encounter in a European restaurant. For instance, drinking water option was asked upon seating, but no menus were presented at that time. Food comes out promptly though.
Only a minor blip in an otherwise great restaurant. Recommended!!!
Great looking restaurant, comfortable bar with great cocktails. Service and food was outstanding . The wine list was diverse enough and fairly priced.
Very attentive staff! The food portions were suffice and the food quality was excellent. I loved their pistachio cake and pan seared salmon filet!
My wife and I decided to try out some place new the last night of Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, and after some quick research I settled in on Cafe Amarcord. We were seated immediately and our orders were taken fairly quickly. Prior to the first course being brought out, our server brought out some bread and a sun-dried tomato pesto for dipping. It was a bit spicy for my wife (who doesn't like spice very much); I thought it was fairly mild.
Our first course was Endive Salad- we both liked it; it definitely was a new taste for me that was okay- not sure I would go out of my way to order it again but I would not turn it away if offered. This is more a reflection on my tastes and not on the food itself, I think. Menu description: Endive & Walnut Salad
tossed with dried cranberries & gorgonzola ~ lemon, yogurt, gorgonzola dressing
Next up was Pork Tenderloin. It was very good, and the potatoes especially so. Menu description: Berkshire Pork Tenderloin
scalloped potato & leek ~ finished with marsala, shiitake & oyster mushroom sauce
My wife and I parted ways on dessert- she had the pistachio cake while I had the Macedonia; as usually, we both thought we made the better choice. Menu descriptions: Macedonia
fresh fruit tossed in Grand Marnier, squeezed citrus & mint~ finished with mandarin sorbet
vanilla sponge layered with whipped ricotta and pistachio, surrounded with crushed pistachio and hazelnuts
Overall, food was very good. Total cost after adding in a glass of wine, a cappucino, and two diet sodas was just over $87 (the kicker was the wine at $11- I would probably skip that to keep the cost down since each meal was $32.95).
If you are in Beacon, the Cafe Amarcord deserves a look.
I went there with my son, who lives in Beacon for HV Restaurant Week. Both our appetizers, dinners and desserts were very good. It was our first time eating at this restaurant, I would definitely go back here again.
I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. We came up from the city to celebrate my Boyfriends Birthday. I found out about it from reading reviews so I had to idea what to expect. The service was FANTASTIC - I emailed them in advance and they got us a special corner table, checked in on us all night and brought an amazing chocolate cake with a candle. Every single thing we ate was delicious. I'm so upset that I dont live close by because I would go every day! The Mushroom soup with goat cheese crostini was insane - maybe my favorite thing we ate. And they had a buratta special with fresh local tomatoes that was one of the best ive had. I also thought the brussel sprout salad was exceptional and my boyfriend love his stake!! 1000% recommend and would consider going back to Beacon just to eat here again.
Love the food
Great food...great ambiance...waiter was a little inexperienced but polite. Would definitely go again
Finally got out for restaurant week. The food was delightful.
We had a superb dinner. We had the escargot with home made bread as one of the apps. My friend had the burrata and persimmons which was a fresh twist on a great combination. My salmon was cooked perfectly and it was on a bed of zucchini noodles in a sesame seed oil light sauce. Dessert was pistachio cake that literally melts in your mouth.
Our server Zack is one of the best I have seen in a very long time.
I highly recommend this restaurant on Beacon, NY
Very good food, good service.Good overall experience
A very nice place
My husband and I love this place. Great food and drinks. Definitely worth the trip!
We had a wonderful experience. We would highly recommend Cafe' Armarcord to all who like great food, nice atmosphere and good friendly service.
delicious food and drinks and great service!
The service was efficient and very friendly. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. We shared an appetizer of the grilled calamari and it was delicious. I had a bronzino wrapped shrimp dish that was good.
We had a great Valentine's Time Day dinner and it was delicious. The restaurant was pretty busy as expected and we did have to wait but I didn't care. We waited at the bar and enjoyed the vibe. Cafe Amarcord is a great place with ambience.
Dinner was great, we enjoyed everything including the friendliness of the entire staff including our waiter.
At the end we got free coffee, drinks and I think dessert because of the wait.
I highly recommend it.
We’ve come to Cafe Amarcord on Valentine’s Day for the past couple of years and are never disappointed. The every day menu is always excellent but the specials are definitely worth listening too. Everything has always been great every time we’ve been here.
It was a good experience. Some menu items could have been explained better, It was a little confusing when the app and salad came out together and the app being smoked trout in a salad. My thoughts are that the waitress could have explained that since you had to order everything at the same time. Just as a courtesy. One salad could have been skipped ! The steak and lamb was cooked medium rather then medium rear but the flavor was so good that we didn't mind at all. It was pretty noisy but seems every place you go is like that anymore. The service was excellent and we will definitely return.
Consistently excellent across the board! Great specials, lots of great menu options, and superb service!
This place is a great find. The food is always great and love the staff. My husband and I really enjoy our date night here. We tell everyone to give it a try.
I eat at Cafe Amercord as often as possible. The service is impeccable. The food is outstanding. The only thing that kept it from being perfect was a table of loud indviduals - this was certainly not the restaurant's fault.
Once again they hit it out of the park! Fantastic meal with friends, service awesome.
It was a fabulous experience! All around. It was my first time and I would go back soon and strongly recommend to others. Everything was delicious , from appetizers to desserts and cappuccino ! The service, excellent as well! There were 5 of us and we all enjoyed everything !
Accommodating and attentive staff, tasty food arrived in very good time, good wine list.
The deserts were creative and the presentation was outstanding. Though a good value, a bit pricey. The restaurant has a convenient parking lot reachable from the side street.
Amarcord is a solid choice for eating out in Beacon.
We were new to the area having just visited Dia:Beacon. Found Amacord on Open Table. Menu very appealing and creative. Scottish smoked salmon on asparagus appetizer delicious as well as entrees. Fettuccini Bolognese sauce was just the right consistency; Chicken Pailliard drizzled with truffle oil on arugula topping with shitake mushrooms was a wonderful combination of flavors. Good value for good food; attentive service. Will return.
Pretty good food with excellent service! Ask for Zach!
A wonderful, delicious New Years Eve. Great wine, Pasta and atmosphere.
Our group of seven were here for a special occasion. We ordered salads and calamari to start--all very good. We had the yellowfin tuna with caponata (cooked perfectly to order), the shellfish stew, fettucine and short ribs, and a pasta special. All these entrees were delicious. Service is pleasant and professional. We definitely recommend Cafe Amarcord and will make plans to dine here again.
Although we were disappointed because our table was in the front room with the bar and the TVs, the meal helped to overcome our disappointment. The service was also good which made a positive difference in our dining experience; the hostess went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our dinner. We ordered the pork cop and the branzino, both of which were very good. Also, we chose the Super Tuscan wine which was extremely good. Looking forward to a return visit, but will definitely request a table in the back room.
Lovely Italian meal, beautifully prepared and presented, reasonably priced. An established treasure in Beacon.
Absolutely wonderful: delicious food and friendly service. Can’t wait to come back.
Excellent food - wonderful meal - the service was gracious
It was our first dining experience in Beacon. The food was creative and very flavorful. The warm figs in the salad special were outstanding. I can't wait to try those on a salad at home. Zack took very good care of us. We're looking forward to going back!
Fabulous meal for a 60th birthday celebration. Knowledgeable staff (Zach! with Karissa learning); glad for the specials (menu looked great, but welcomed having additional choices). Inventive dishes--cheese/persimmon appetizer, great dressing on fresh greens; FABULOUS pasta second dish (focchiette with pear/cheese in browned butter): this was the dish of the night! Entrees v. good, but ribeye a bit fatty (more than customary) and huge portion; branzino-wrapped shrimp sounded better than outcome, with shrimp a bit overcooked, branzino skin not as crispy as could've been, and fennel slaw tasted fishy; odd. Lovely wine, presentation, romantic. Definitely worth a return!
