Absolutely amazing food and attentiveness!
Second time there, second time outside. Food is nothing short of outstanding! Chef knows his stuff! Perfect after an outdoor day!
First time, and was not disappointed. The first step in we were greeted and seated by a lovely hostess, wait staff well attentive to our needs. Food excellent, from the pastas to the fish entrees, loved the octopus salad, so refreshing. We will be back and highly recommend you pay a visit.
Delicious light lunch, tasteful decor, choice of inside or out, pleasant service, interesting menu. A tad pricey for lunch, but quality food, so worth it.
We were visiting Beacon from Long Island. We looked on line and decided to try it. Everything about it was great. If we are in Beacon again we will be sure to eat there!
A wonderful meal. Amarcord has become our go-to destination when we want an elegant meal out of our home. We think it’s the best restaurant in a 25 mile radius.
To celebrate my wife and I’s 5th year wedding anniversary, we decided to go to Cafe Amarcord. After being seated and give a drink menu, decided on two drinks, the paper plane and a Negroni. Sad to say, I believe the whiskey had to be cured before serving, took about 15 minutes to receive these drinks. The waiter stated it was “on its way” several times. Maybe it was shipped from Italy? Not sure but my wife and I were not happy, and it didn’t change moving forward.
Upon starters we ordered the straccatella?? (Creamy cheese) and the grilled calamari, both specials. The calamari was more of a poach, rather than grilled. The sauce left a slightly sour aftertaste in our mouths. After a few bites, we put it aside for collections. The cheese came with a few tomatoes on the side. The issue with the cheese is it’s a spread. My wife and I looked at each other perplexed as this usually comes with some sort of bread. We asked for some more bread and upon receiving, we did think this was the best dish we had here at Cafe Amarcord.
Moving to the main course, I ordered one of the specials of the night, pheasant with pasta and a sauce. I took a bite after receiving freshly ground pepper on it, and the bland taste was unforgiven. I mixed this “soup” around, as the broth was light and stumbled upon a couple of bay leaves. My wife ordered the the chicken dish off the regular menu. The chicken was slightly on the dryer side. The crust was seasoned with a “very heavy hand” and was boarderline not edible. Luckily I can tolerate more spice so we switched dishes. As my wife was gathering another bite from the pasta dish, she found a piece of skin from the pheasant in the bowl that was served. To say we are disappointed is an understatement. I did message Cafe Amarcord prior to arrival when I made the reservation on Opentable saying it was our 5th year wedding anniversary and we expect a great meal with an exceptional experience. That was very far from the reality.
Some of the dishes were spectacular; others very good. It was our second visit. Will definitely return.
Used to come here when my wife and I lived in Beacon. We came back to visit and everything was just as good if not better. Love Cafe Amacord!
Great Italian food with wonderful specials and very helpful wait staff!
The appetizers were delicious, 2/3 of the entrees were poor. The rabbit entree was covered with leeks , could not find the rabbit, there was polenta on the plate that was mushy, the carbonara was gummy and not made with an authentic recipe, the bronzino was nicely done , tender and well flavored.
Service was friendly and efficient. Based on food, will not return
This is my go-to place in Beacon for consistently great food and service! I have eaten there close to a dozen times and have not had 1 bad meal -- order the specials, they do not disappoint!
Very nice spot. The dishes we chose were all good. Prices were fair.
I have been enjoying Amarcord for a few years now, and the food seems to only get better, So if you are anywhere near beacon I cannot recommend it enough.
We had such an incredible meal at Cafe Amarcord! The mussels are excellent, and the roast chicken is scrumptious. We will definitely be back!
Full menu with interesting specials
Good wine selections
Amazing food with a great, professional service staff.
We would definitely recommend Cafe Amarcord. The sausage and broccoli rabe appetizer was amazing and is enough that it could be shared. The Berkshire pork chop was a large, very tender chop paired with baked apple and radicchio slices. The pasta with clams in the shell was a large portion and a nice light meal. The squid ink pasta special was thoroughly enjoyed and had a little heat. All of this was paired with a bottle each of the two Malbec wines offered on the menu and a Hennepin beer.
Very disappointing, especially the two seafood dishes we ordered. Shrimp were way over cooked, halibut wasn’t prepared properly, accompaniments were lackluster. Overall very expensive for quality.
Was an early reservation and the waitress sat us at the first table next to the front door. Outside of that door was either a regular or employee that kept taking smoke breaks right outside the door and would waft the smoke back into the area when he came back in. She could have sat us anywhere else. Literally 3 other tables had customers. My mistake for not asking for a different location. Service was good. Food was ok, wanted the pork chop but was out. Went for the ribeye which for medium was cooked too fast and a bit tough. Raviolis were delicious which this restaurant is more of an Italian influence than the expected contemporary American.
Food was delicious except for Halibut that was slightly overcooked. It took quite awhile to get our first cocktail. Overall it was a great meal and they did not rush in the least.
Food was great and the service and staff were friendly. The branzino was absolutely delicious, as was the ahi tuna. The pasta with duck ragu was very good but my husband would have liked a little more of it! The veal meatballs al tono starter sounded like an interesting combination but would have liked to taste more tuna in it. Beet salad was great. Picky, I know...but have to say it was very enjoyable and delicious and a lovely evening!
Had a really good meal here. Great arugula salad. Tasty brussel sprout salad. Great pasta with vegetables/tomato sauce, excellent tuna. Nice inside, great service.
Nice corner table for two. Food was very good.
Fabulous restaurant with friendly professional staff. Best restaurant we experienced in Beacon!!
What a delightful find this was, as we took a Sunday drive down to Beacon from Albany. Dinner here was comforting. We had the pleasure of Alexis serving us. She was patient as we considered the main menu along with the intriguing specials. We started with an apple-and-smoked-trout salad that was oh so delicious. I opted for a black tagliatelle with lump crab entrée ... nicely spicy without being too hot. My wife went with an oh so tender pork chop. And then we finished with profiteroles. The dining room is still socially-spaced and clean. The bar is inviting, also with seating. Refined and unpretentious, the menu is priced right with a very nice variety, and service is top-notch. Highly recommended!
Wonderful experience perfection in food, service and ambience. Yes, Fellini reigns again with a perfect production at Cafe Amacord!
The food and service were great as always, but I was uncomfortable with the lack of social distancing and Covid protocols. Tables seemed as close as they were before Covid, there were no plexi barriers, people were standing at the bar and they used re-usable menus. I love the food and service was great, but it just felt like there was never a pandemic.
The servers were very attentive and the food and ambiance were both great. The only issue we had was that we had been allowed to ask for some alterations in the way one of the dishes was to be served: one condiment eliminated and 2 of the sauces on the side while keeping one sauce on the item as advertised. It unfortunately took us three different requests before the 2 sauces were brought and until the sauce that should have been on the item all along was brought. Had this not happened we would have given the restaurant 5 stars for sure!
Wonderful food and service. The host was delightful.
We look forward to dinner at Amarcord whenever we are in the HRV, which is not often as we live on the West Coast. It never disappoints.
Went for HVRW and enjoyed every bite of a fantastic 3 course meal. Staff were friendly and helpful and recommended a great wine paring with my meal!
We've been twice, and it was great both times. Food is great, and the service was attentive and prompt.
Delicious food and great service. I highly recommend this restaurant. I will be going back.
As always, Cafe Amacord does not disappoint! The staff is friendly, the ambience is warm and welcoming, and the good is fantastic. It was good to be back.
Wonderful and interesting menu. Will definitely return in the future.
Waitress put the check on the table without asking if we need something else I’m always love to have a decaf cappuccino with my dessert, also clear the table between courses.
Other than that everything was EXCELLENT!!! Thanks !
Haven't been here in a while because of covid restriction. Was as outstanding as ever.
Cocktails were generous and well made.
We went with mostly specials, but my wife had the salmon off the regular menus. It was exceptional.
We split the veal meatballs and 4 cheese pasta purses. Both we outstanding. I had the sea bass special. As fresh and well prepared fish as I have ever had.
Desserts are outrageously good.
Forgot how good this place is, a gem and not overly priced for the quality and service.
