Cafe Amarcord Ratings and Reviews
Fabulous meal for a 60th birthday celebration. Knowledgeable staff (Zach! with Karissa learning); glad for the specials (menu looked great, but welcomed having additional choices). Inventive dishes--cheese/persimmon appetizer, great dressing on fresh greens; FABULOUS pasta second dish (focchiette with pear/cheese in browned butter): this was the dish of the night! Entrees v. good, but ribeye a bit fatty (more than customary) and huge portion; branzino-wrapped shrimp sounded better than outcome, with shrimp a bit overcooked, branzino skin not as crispy as could've been, and fennel slaw tasted fishy; odd. Lovely wine, presentation, romantic. Definitely worth a return!
Amazing meal which included locally sourced walnut and pear salad, a starter portion of the ricotta ravioli with truffle and mushroom, fettuccini with the short ribs and sliced beef with polenta sticks. Every dish was prepared perfectly without overseasoning. You can taste the difference with the pasta that homemade. The service was attentive without being overbearing. We will definitely stop in again when we are in the area!
Had a wonderful pre fix meal for hudson valley restaurant week. They had a fantastic choice of course options, it was hard to decide. Everything was delicious.
The staff there are courteous and friendly. Everything came out quickly and our host and server were very attentive.
The few times I’ve fined at Amarcord have been wonderful. Highly recommend.
Went to Cafe Amarcord on a Sunday night to celebrate our anniversary weekend. We were traveling, so we arrived about an hour early, but they were still able to seat us :) The service was impeccable. We bought a bottle of wine, a 3 course prix-fixe, and an extra app (omg...the smoked trout was so good) Everything was perfectly coursed, the food was beautifully presented, and delicious. I highly recommend, and we definitely plan on coming back to try some more of the menu!
Restaurant is beautiful....Service was fine.....Grilled calamari appetizer and the shrimp carpaccio were both very good.....Loin lamb chops were very good, the special of cavatelli with veal ragu was totally tasteless.....even adding salt & grated cheese didn't help......since 2 out of 4 had the special, the evening was a bit of a bust....shouldn't happen at a restaurant of this caliber.....:-(
We drove to Beacon for a day in the country. We made reservations at Cafe Amarcord based on reviews and we were not disappointed. The staff was friendly and accomodating, the menu was varied and everything was prepared fresh and delicious. There were several specials which were excellent. We shared a tagliatelli pasta with lobster as an appetizer. I had the dover sole which was presented to me whole and then fileted. My husband had the tuna. Both were prepared very well. The wine list was moderately priced and everything was delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Lunched here with friends from California, first visit for both of us. For the most part, food was excellent. I had the carrot soup special of the day and it was delicious. Subtle blend of spices. My husband said his linguini with clam sauce was an excellent riff on the traditional. Other couple enjoyed their salad and pasta with duck ragu. Only dish that came up short was my pork panini specialty of the day. It was extremely dry and needed some kind of dressing and/or less meat filling. Desserts were also excellent.
We had a birthday celebration dinner on a Tuesday night. The staff greeted us with smiles, the menu had a fantastic variety to choose from. Above that there were several appetizer and entree specials ....
amazing for a Tuesday night! The salad selections were awesome! We choose the pear and walnut salad ... delicious and so fresh! Our choices for dinners were filet mignon, pasta and veal, and a polenta meals. The portions were filling. We also had desserts, All arrive with an appetizing and beautiful presentation! The wait staff was attentive without being intrusive. Well worth a visit. We definitely will be back!
We spent the day in the lovely town of Beacon away from NYC and found this charming yummy restaurant on Main Street in the center of town. It's a little more upscale than most of the cafes along Main Street and the food choices were great. Try the grilled calamari, really delicious and so tender, not at all chewy like it can sometimes be
We went here for my 50th birthday while staying in Beacon for the weekend. The food was amazing, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the space had a nice vibe that was casual yet also felt special. And while it's not exactly a bargain, it's definitely well worth the money!
I am a chef residing on Long Island and have worked at places such as Lavo and Peter Lugers and the atmosphere at Cafe Amarcord was blissful and the food exquisite . The waiters were courteous and didn't over intrude on our table by passing by every second and asking if we were "okay" and didn't forget that we existed. I would definitely recommend going to this establishment.
My girlfriend and I enjoyed our dinner at Cafe Amarcord very much. Everything about the experience was enjoyable. The wine was excellent and our meals were absolutely delicious. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and creativity of the cuisine. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and the dining room was lovely.
A warm welcome from the start followed by prompt service and non intrusive check ins. The bread and dip were outstanding with the Great Gatsby cocktail du jour. Seafood entrees, soup and salad amazingly fresh and served just right. I will return asap, it was that good. The outdoor dining area is intimate and very comfortable to enjoy your meal with conversation, especially on a nice sunny day for lunch, as I did. Thank you, Amarcord!
I live in a foody town--Portland, Oregon--so I tend to recognize quality when I see it. This place hit on all cylinders, from the perfectly crafted Manhattan, to the fresh heirloom tomato appetizer, to the tender Veal Paillard, all delivered with a cadence and service I never expected in little Beacon. Bravo! Well priced too.
