Cafe Amalfi Ratings and Reviews
The food was decent but we had to wait ages to be seated for some reason, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. Also, apparently the grilled vegetable salad comes chilled, which seemed weird. A fine place to eat if you're staying at the Hyatt and don't feel like leaving, but honestly, there are so many other, better options around the area I don't think I'd go back.
The food was absolutely outstanding; Helena, our attendant, was beyond outstanding and so very helpful The seafood dishes were creative, beautifully presented, and the fried green tomato appetizer was beyond unique and extraordinarily delicious. The ambience was sterile and lighting was too bright; no plants….no artwork on walls, but the food was above a 10. Service a 10!!!! Highly recommend!!!!!
Three wonderful things about this meal -- all equally important and fabulous! First, the food was excellent -- neither my wife nor I could resist the daily special which was seared drum (fish) served atop horseradish mashed potatoes and asparagus (either grilled or roasted. This artfully presented main dish was preceded by an excellent salad (the house-made blue cheese dressing was to die for!) and focaccia bread served with olive oil and copious amounts of parmesan cheese. Second -- and no less important -- was the service we received from George (be sure to ask for him!) who has been delighting diners for more than 20 years. He recommended a very nice Sauvignon Blanc to pair with our entrees -- great choice! Third was the view; it's hard to describe how romantic it was to watch late afternoon transition to night with an unobstructed view of the ocean. Finally, the restaurant served us a complimentary dessert of no flour chocolate cake and strawberry cream cheese cake complimented by mounds of whipped cream, sliced strawberries, raspberries and raspberry sauce. Unbelievable! While I can't negate less stellar reviews from other diners, I can only tell those who read this review that this was one of the better meals we've ever enjoyed!
Cafe Amalfi is located on the mezzanine level of a hotel, which might have been off-putting but it wasn't. The atmosphere once in the restaurant doesn't bring a hotel setting to mind. Because it is in a hotel, they know hospitality. The draw is the view of the Atlantic Ocean, so be sure to arrive before dark. Enjoy.
Read rave reviews. The restaurant is in the Hilton hotel. It overlooks the hotels pool and the ocean. Except for my party of three, there was one other couple. I ordered a tuna melt. I really didn't like it. Too much mayonnaise and topped with orange cheese, maybe Velveeta? My friends ordered a hamburger and the other a seafood chowder.
It was just typical hotel food...I still don't understand all the rave reviews.
Great view of the ocean from above. Always wonderful fresh fish choices with wonderful preparation and presentation. In a Hilton Hotel so harder to find unless you are in hotel. I suggest you look for it. Service is very attentive and truly aim to please always.
I like to take out of town friends here...George the server is really made for the Ritz...he is very attentive ......very sensitive and speaks to the chef about how we like our food....
His wine recommendations are always on...
I am always happy to see him..and look forward to returning to see his smiling face....
the view is so beautiful...it is oceanfront...
we all had the special which was filet mignon and a lobster tail....
and George always remembers that I want a glass of ice with my wine and keeps refilling it!! the best of the best!
very comfortable seating as well...
My husband and I just celebrated our 28th anniversary and had dinner at this establishment. It was absolutely amazing!! Our waiter, George, was probably the best waiter I have ever experienced! Our table was perfect and dinner was beyond delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant!
WE went to Cafe Amalfi for the ambiance suggested by its posting on OpenTable. In reality is the in-house restaurant for a large condo complex run by a hotel chain. The windows are all fogged in the view is mostly obstructed by the condition of the windows. Some of the dishes were very nice, some acceptable. The food selection is less than what the description may suggest in the OT posting.
The reason we mainly chose this restaurant is that it is ocean front and we wanted a view while eating. We ordered a fried calamari appetizer which was very disappointing but without even asking the manager took it off our bill when he saw that most of it was uneaten. The bread, salad and entree's were good. The prices are high for what you get but I guess you are paying for the view more than anything.
It was our first time visiting the restaurant. I was our anniversary. George and trainee Monica was so friendly and helpful with the menu. We ordered the calamari for appetizers and they also brought out the bread. My husband ordered the catch of the day which is the trout that came with mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. I on the other hand had the special which is the salmon with corn and chorizo salsa finished with a beurre blanc sauce. Everything was cooked to perfection. To finish it off the brought out a strawberry shortcake layer cake for dessert. The staff was phenomenal. We will definitely come again!
Really disappointed in this one. Great rating - should have read the reviews a bit more closely. It is in the Hilton hotel but the restaurant looks like the lobby of a holiday inn or equivalent where you might get a free breakfast. I had way higher expectations considering the write up of the views and the the pricing. Our food was a mixed bag. Some was good and others really bad. Definitely not worth the price. Not sure how the ratings were so high on this one.
We love, love, love Cafe Amalfi! The food is always delicious and wonderful. I had the stuffed flounder, yummmmm. The bread they bring starts off your meal, it's delicious
George is absolutely my favorite waiter in the world he makes the meal even more special !
He's very attentive and accommodating. The view is to die for!
Exceptional service from the hostess I am sorry I forget her name. She took care of my 3 grandsons like they were princes. George the server who has been there for 25 years was equally as exceptional. The service is by far the most individualized that I have experienced in a very long time. Helania our server the last evening of our visit was very sweet and nice. The view is one not to miss. You feel like you are dining on the ocean.
The seafood pasta dish failed on two accounts. At $28.00 for 3 medium shrimp, 3 medium scallops and 3 baby clams, it was way overpriced. Secondly the pasta itself had no flavor. After bringing this situation to our server's attention, she went to the kitchen and tasted the pasta and complained to the cook that it was tasteless. She also sent over the manager and he took care of the situation appropriately. On the flip side, my prime rib was cooked perfectly, tasted great and was oversized and priced well. Definitely a Tale of Two Dinners.
Our family booked a reservation at the Café Amalfi after reading the reviews. It is in the Hilton Hotel, and while I usually am skeptical of hotel restaurants, the reviews persuaded me. I will admit we were disappointed. Our waiter was prompt, informative and courteous, but that was the best part of the meal. They advertise the view, but before one views the beach there is the pool and all that is going on there. The food was average at best. The seafood chowder was the best dish we had, but it could not make up for the other dishes. My pasta was cold, and the other dishes were nothing special. The bill for 3 of us was just over $200 with tip, which to us was overpriced for the meal. In the end, it was a hotel restaurant and I should have trusted my instincts.
