  • Special Occasion
  • Great for Lunch
Acclaimed by local and regional food writers as one of the best New Orleans Restaurants, Cafe Adelaide is a favorite of local residents as well as visitors. Modern Creole Cuisine featuring seafood and farm fresh ingredients is the cornerstone to "eating, drinking, and carrying on" at this Commander's Palace Family Restaurant. Cafe Adelaide is led by Executive Chef Meg Bickford.

The Swizzle Stick Bar is a nod to the Brennans' beloved aunt, Adelaide Brennan, whose joie de vivre and charming pursuit of the good life is captured in the decor and design. Named for the gold swizzle stick that Adelaide wore around her neck, this fun watering hole is getting a lot of attention reviving classic cocktails.

Excellent food and service. The venue being in a hotel is spartan for New Orleans and the next meal is being set up when the previous one is still being served.

We had hoped for a better experience; the food was pretty good, but the service was sub-par. Maybe the waitress was having an off night. She would disappear for long periods of time, and one of the managers ended up doing about half the serving at our table - and had it not been for him, one of our tablemates would never have gotten her drink. There were only 4 of us, but dinner took over 3 hours.

Had read good things about this Commanders Palace sister restaurant... however the experience was disappointing. Perhaps they were simply having an off day... service
was very slow (Sunday brunch - not all tables were filled) and the food was lukewarm
when it arrived at the table.

I have been to Cafe Adelaide in the past but the food on Saturday was far better than I ever recall. Kodos to Cafe Adelaide for obviously bringing in such fresh and amazing new chefs how have really elevated the food quality.

The Gumbo and Shrimp Corndogs were wonderful. The Salmon was tasty (but my friend ordered it well done, so sadly dry - not the chef's fault) and the Grilled cheese was damn good! We never got the fries we ordered, nor was desert offered - after our 3 martini's we forgot ourselves :(

The food was bland and had no pizzazz. We were expecting much more due to the fact that it is a Brennans restaurant. There was absolutely no seasoning on anything. I had scrambled eggs with cheese there was no seasoning in the eggs in the cheese was strictly some melted cheese over the top. Very very dry! The biscuit also had no flavor.

The food & service were excellent! The power went out while we were there, so we were on back up power. But they still put out a 5 star meal!

As a rule we avoid hotel restaurants other than breakfast. But after walking by 3 times, admiring the decor, reading reviews and viewing the menu we decided to give it a try. So glad we did! Expertly prepared salmon and steak (they asked for temps on both -THANK YOU!). Accommodated allergies and made wonderful suggestions for wine. Hubby said the Turtle soup was amazing. We were shocked when the chef stopped by our table and we realized our fabulous meal was prepared by someone so young. He was genuinely funny- ran to the kitchen himself when we joked about wanting more of the steak jus to eat with the veggies! Will definitely go back.

Great food and exceptional service. Easy to tell this restaurant is part of the Commander’s Palace family. And, you gotta love the 25 cent martinis at lunch.

The biggest problem was the staffing. One server and 1 assistant for the whole dining room.it was Sunday and maybe it isn’t usually busy. Also surprising for a good restaurant in NOLA. There are enough other places with food just as good and a better value

We were late for our reservation because of traffic. The staff was wonderful about it and we still made our showtime at the Saenger. Great food and “fancy” comfort food.

Another Brennan gem. My wife and I went solo as a couple and returned on St. Patty's Day with ten friends. We had a blast and were delighted with our fare and service. It is mow on our "must go" list when we visit New Orleans.

The food we ordered was great!. The service however, ruined the evening for us. My husband and I both ordered from a fixed price menu. My soup arrived almost immediately after the order was placed. We received bread, and then we waited for our entree for 45 minutes. The waiter passed our table many times, and did not pour water or ask us if we needed anything. He finally asked us if we had received out entrees. Since he was our waiter, and there was nothing on the table, apparently not. About 10 minutes later, our entrees arrived. He brought the check with the entrees, and we had to remind him that we were supposed to get dessert. He took the check away, and about 10 minutes later we got dessert. A very disappointing meal on our first night in New Orleans!

Do not let its hotel location fool you, Café Adelaide is a terrific restaurant with high standards. This can be attested to by the excellent service, carefully chosen wine, and outstanding food. The Turtle Soup is delicious as is the Tobasco Quail and Black Drum (Fish) entrees. The bar makes drinks with a sublime professionalism. You will miss out if you do not try the café either for lunch or dinner

We loved Cafe A. I had the Turtle soup which a read was a must have...it was. For entree I had the shrimp and grits. Best grits ever. My wife had the quail. Quail is so hard to serve moist....but they did it. The noise from the bar was a little loud at first but once the happy hour crowd left it simmered down noticeably. The service was good, they were a bit overwhelmed at first but when they added another server it was fine. All in all I would highly recommend.

I loved almost everything about this place. There was a LOT of noise from the bar across the way.

The food was by far the best I’ve had on my visit to New Orleans. The turtle soup was delicious and so were the shrimp and grits!

Highly recommend!

THE TURTLE SOUP IS TO DIE FOR! OUTSTANDING!
HAD TO TRY THE SHRIMP AND GRITS AND AGAIN OUTSTANDING. CREAMY GRITS AND JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF SPICE TO BRING IT ALL TOGETHER.
I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT FOR THE OUTSTANDING FOOD AND SERVICE.

Good food, cool atmosphere, slow service. Wait staff polite but not well trained. It took more than 15 minuets to get a cocktail. Waiter was quick to take our order and was a nice person. Was odd to have food start arriving before we had our drinks. Not intended but was rushed.
