About Cafe 225
Welcome to Café 225. California Bar and Grill . Having grown up in the San Francisco Bay area, I thought it appropriate to bring my food experiences with me to Visalia. My family has been in the restaurant business since 1959. I learned that every customer in the restaurant is a guest in your house - a friend, neighbor, or a member of the family who has come over for great food and a memorable time. And like family, no one should ever walk in without a warm greeting to be followed by the best meal they ever ate. I'm sure you will enjoy what comes out of our exposed kitchen and wood fired rotisserie & grill.
I want you to feel comfortable coming in any time. For a business or family lunch, a cocktail and appetizers for happy hour, a Great dinner or a burger before a movie. We want to be the place for a dressed-up meal when you're trying to impress that special someone. And we want to share those milestones in with you.

Cafe 225 Ratings and Reviews
We brought friends from Arizona, as I remembered you had a really good filet mignon.
Very disappointed that this item was not on the menu. Your bread, too, was quite disappointing. Are you becoming a hamburger joint? Saw quite a selection of burgers. WE still love the atmosphere, but the menu needs some work.
We planned on celebrating a birthday today for a friend whos wife is in the hospital. Cafe 225 isn't open on sundays. Frustrated that they don't have their hours correct with open table because I had a reservation at 1:15 today. We had to find another place.
We went to Café 225 for dinner before attending a concert at the Fox Theatre, which we've done before. The food and service were really nice. We did not feel rushed, as sometimes happens in a busy restaurant. The menu is varied enough that you can always find something you'd like to try. The wine list could have been a little longer, but we did easily find a wine we enjoyed at a fair price. I'm sure we're going to return. We were able to make the reservation online, which was really convenient for both us and the restaurant.
Extremely noisy...and not in a good way...as we were seated across from where plates were be stacked by dishwasher going in and ou, as well as cooks and platers yelling. Artichoke fritter-type appetizer tasted raw on the inside and finally found one tiny bit of artichoke in it. I had side salad with balsamic vinaigrette. Sadly it seemed to be just balsamic and olive oil, now seasoning. They used to have a good vinaigrette. We both had steak frites and it was served with 'cold' gravy...actually cold! The fries were standard frozen shoe string fries. We were really surprised how bad it was since we USD to eat here a few years ago. Last time was Mother's Day 2016 and it was bad then. I attributed it to the busy holiday. Apparently that was not the case. We will not return.
I made a reservation at 8 o'clock on Valentine's Day. We got there 15 minutes early just for them to tell us they don't have a table for us because there boss forgot to take them off open table. so thank you for ruining my special day I don't appreciate it...
Very underwhelming. I had a Margherita pizza and you would think with a wood oven they could get that right. The crust had zero flavor and had a texture of being microwaved. My husband had a steak which was very thin and certainly not worth the price. My cosmopolitan was pretty good but a little sweet for my liking. We will not likely return to this restaurant.
Busy Valentine's night so a but crowded and hampered service a bit, but pleasant waiter.
Good and creative variety on the menu with moderate to slightly high prices but not outrageous. Our meal had good flavor but was overcooked/burnt do they didn't charge us for that item. Menu said it was happy hour but they didn't give us happy hour prices on our drinks.
Nice find on the Main Street of Visalia- stumbled in with a little hint from the internet that the chef had trained and previously worked in San Francisco. Looking for high quality and savory food, I was drawn to the creative menu. Once inside, I was very pleased with the ambiance and excellent service- that was just the perfect blend of attention and concern combined with time to leave me to eat alone in quiet to people watch and decompress after a long day of travel. The lamb kabob (as recommended as one of the servers 2 most favorite dishes) was FANTASTIC and I picked a perfect bottle called Renegade to pair with it. There was no room for dessert- but I will save room for that the next time I return!
Haven't been to 225 in years, decided to mix up our restaurant dining. Food was good and flavorful. Our waitress was nice and attentive, but seemed like she had too many tables and was pushy for us to order. The hostess was lost and walked around the entire restaurant looking for a table for us. She also appeared to be clearing tables. Overall the dining experience was OK, not what I remember from Cafe 225. I've heard lunch there is great.
Had a great time with my lady, we both enjoyed our meals thoroughly! I had Garlic shrimp linguine and she had the Mac & cheese with chicken, delicious! Service was great as well our waiters made sure we had everything we needed, much appreciated! I'd recommend Cafe 225 to anyone!
Enjoyed 2 of the special entrees the night we dined. Ganero ("G") our server was very helpful in providing suggestions when we were selecting our entrees. He also was attentive and friendly during our visit. Thank-you to restaurant and "G" for providing a delightful evening out!
We were the last reservation for the evening. We had changed the time, so there was a little bit of confusion. The restaurant accommodated us with no problem! We were very hungry after a long day of travel and very grateful to receive such wonderful food and service. Thank you.
I had an option to make reservations at 945 pm which I did. Did not know restaurant closes at 10pm. I got a message at 9pm that my request to cancel reservation was done which I never cancelled myself. I reserved 945 pm again. When I got to restaurant, staff was surprised of our arrival and they had already begun closing and cleaning. They allowed us to eat dinner but felt rushed to finish with staff presence that they wanted to leave. Nice restaurant but don't make reservations at 945pm
