Good fish tacos!
Great outdoor dining with great service. The margaritas are always great and the food is always solid.
The food was very basic and lacked any flavor or sauces. The service however was very nice and prompt. The tables inside seem to be positioned badly. We sat inches away from the dispense bar which was a very chaotic area for the servers. We also had an extremely loud table behind us that was so close I couldn't get in or out of my chair. If the food was better I would come back.
I write a food blog and I didn't find myself wanting to cover Cactus as a gem or disappointment. It's basically Mexican food a step above Taco Bell. The service was good. The atmosphere is plain, not a lot of ambiance, but by no means a turn off. Me and my girlfriends just wanted a cheap eat , a drink special, and a place where we could sit and talk , and it served all 3 purposes. I'd return for the same reasons. I would Not however recommend the spice, mango margarita.
Yum!!! Great food and drinks
Do not eat here, food is horrible, cold and unsatisfactory. The food was lacking in the authentic Mexican flavor that one would hope for from a Mexican joint. I can garantee your disappointed if you eat here.
Our son was in the mood for Mexican fare so we chose Cactus. For my 10 year old, the food was fine. However, for more sophisticated palates, the food was just okay. The menu selections looked promising but the execution was uninspired. Reminded me of a college bar back in the 80's.
Food was good , far from authentic Mexican nice place ,
I must say I was impressed by this bar the moment I walked in it was very crowded which is a good thing. howeverthe table that they had reserved for us was too smalland right near the bar so in the middle of us was the aisle which was about 3ft wide. So not enough space.. In my opinion they shouldn't gave tables there. My food was amazing I had the shrimp burrito with enchilada and cheese sauce. To die for. By date had shrimp fajitas which was good but was missing something. Maybe sauce it was a bit dry.. My drink was mediocre watered down mess. Taste like juice...but regardless it was only 5 bucks the cactus Rita. My food was so good it didn't even matter Lol.
We had wonderful service! Food was good, beer was tasty, and the staff made us feel welcome.
We love Mexican/Southwestern food but didn't like this place at all. $10 margarita pitchers for happy hour but they were horrible and we sent them back. Guacamole was below average and my friend's chicken tacos were stale. The server was apologetic and had management make adjustments to our bill. It would have been nice for management to come to our table but they didn't.
The employees are cordial and pleasant. They made us feel as if we were the only customers in the room. Drinks were made exactly as ordered by the bartender. The waitress had clearly taken pride before our arrival. The table was spotless.
Overall very good. The food was excellent! I would come here again.
Great seat for bike race. Service was great - super friendly.
This was a horrible experience. The good was absolutely the worst Mexican I have had. The fajitas came out cold, the beans had no seasoning, the rice was hard with no flavor or seasoning. I literally had one bite of my food, as did my boyfriend and we asked for the check. The manager was a jerk and stated "this is how they make their food". I would never recommend this place for anyone to eat. I wouldn't even feed this food to my dog.
tomato sauce for salsa and way too much of sour cream and way tooooo little avocado in your guacamole. the chips were excelant but ruined on the tomato sauce and what you call guacamole..... $2 tacos were worth it
very loud most folks must eat after getting drunk
Food was very good and a good price. Drinks were expensive, not filled all the way and not the best tasting.
I took my two children (aged 10 and 14) to an early dinner after Easter service. The service was excellent. The host was nice and personable. He had a genuine smile. The waitress was on point with coming to our table at the appropriate time. She was very perky and nice as well. There were only a few patrons seated and a few at the bar but the atmosphere was peaceful. The food was ok and the portions were large for the price, but it didn't taste very authentic. Also the menu was small. I was craving Mexican food but it tasted very "American". The beer selection is interesting. I got a special blend of Blue Moon which was delicious. I would come back though for drinks and nachos with my friends.
There aren't very many experiences in my life that I would describe as religious. But Cactus's chorizo burger is transcendently good.
The food was bad. Over cooked, flavorless...and not very Mexican.
If you want beer you'll be fine, but don't go for a margarita.
The music was metal - Black Sabbath, Def Leopard.
And the drama...
Sitting at our table I could hear the manager swearing and complaining, "I don't care if he's my f'in brother...I'll never schedule him again if he ... somebody go after him".
Our server was very nice and attentive - she could find a better place to work.
Great food and service!
Manager was very nice. Some patrons were using loud profanity, and he asked them to leave since there were families with children in the restaurant. Gave us his card when we asked about a recipe for a particular dish.
Great substitute for your basic chain tex mex restaurants. Great happy hour options and margaritas were delicious. I am a big appetizers lover, so I would definitely recommend the Texas shrimp and Cactus Nachos; they were awesome!!!
Jalapeno Poppers were excellent -- crunchy outside and gooey rich inside. My Spicy Ceasar Salad was just okay. Hubby's Burrito very good.
Stake corn tortillas, worst guacamole ever tasted like a jar of mayo. Service slow and not very friendly. Never again.
TUNA DISH WAS OUTSTANDING, PERSONABLE CREW, GREAT BEER/MARGUARITAS, AWESOME
The owner/host sets the tone of this fun, friendly, noisy. casual eatery. Our experience was very enjoyable.
Margaritas were great. Service was excellent.
Wonderful friendly service but very bland and unoriginal food. No corn tortillas in a mexican restaurant???
We them assumed this was more of a bar then a restaurant but apparently that did not pan out either..
Drinks were not particularly good. The margaritas tasted like they were made with a mix from Costco with cheap tequila added.
Didn't dare stay for dessert.
Enjoyed the food and margaritas were great. Limited menu due to the art festival so I wasn't able to get my primary choice of the fish tacos. Will definitely go back again
Our waitress was genuinely nice!!
I had the Texas Shrimp, best shrimp I've eaten in a very long time...loved them !!
Burritos really good! Interesting beer selection. Ordered and did not care for the enchiladas & they replaced it with another item - very nice!
I love mexican food, and the two times I've been here I've enjoyed the cuisine immensely. I'm not much of a drinker, but I loved my margaritas as well. Overall great dining experience!
Great food, good beer, fun spot, good experience
Great beer selection, great nightly specials, and afforable prices!
Just average, food and service were adequate. Went on Valentine's Day, restaurant was not that busy, wanted a four top for two, they would not seat us there. Tables were not used the time we were there.
Amazing as always. The food is wonderful and the staff is great. Very reasonably prices
Specifically, the salsa has a chipotle flavor that is unique and oh so tasty, and I love the pulled pork.
This was my second time visiting Cactus. I brought my son here just for the chips and salsa. The salsa is probably the best I've ever eaten. My son was not disappointed. My kids are 5 and 14 and both were happy with their food choices. My husband too was pretty happy with his meal. The service was pretty good this time. The shrimp burrito is really amazing. This is not a place that presents food well though. You get what you order on a plate, no presentation what so ever. But, the food is really good. The first time I went here was with some friends, and their drinks were really bad. My friend ordered a skinny girl margarita and it was not what she expected. It was so strong, she couldn't even drink it. Surprising for Philly
Casual bar setting with Tex Mex food. Fine for what it is.
