About Cacio e Pepe

Consistently excellent, this East Village gem is known for innovation and excellence in Roman cuisine. While Chef Salvatore Corea creates a seasonal menu, partners Alessandro Peluso and Giusto Priola note that Cacio e Pepe remains faithful to its signature namesake dish: home-made pasta brought to your table and spun in a wheel of pecorino cheese, then dusted with a flourish of pepper. Voted a ‘Critic’s Pick’ by New York Magazine, Cacio e Pepe is celebrated by reviewers as a classic Italian restaurant with a sense of style: A 50-seat garden is set behind the main dining room, there is al-fresco dining out front, and waiters with superior wine knowledge help you select the perfect beverage accompaniment to your meal. The mystery remains whether it is the garden, the cuisine, or the service which lifts Cacio e Pepe above and beyond its peers on the NYC restaurant scene. The answer, however, may best be expressed in French: It has that je ne se qua.

Mother/daughter trip to NYC. Discovered this restaurant online and read reviews - it did not disappoint! The tonnarelli is a must-have; absolutely delicious. Pair it with a glass of wine, and it’s perfect. The tiramisu and ricotta cheesecake were also amazing.

The meal and service was great. I think the only thing that could be done differently is that is should be better clarified that they do not take visa/MasterCard.

Expertly prepared. Polpetinna and signature dish are standouts. Instagram crowd. Bring earmuffs or hearing aids. Better yet visit on a Tuesday.

Hostess was very rude and unaccomodating. She gave us our check during our meal as the next seating arrived and would not let us finish/order dessert

After reviewing many restaurants for our stay in New York, we couldn’t have been more pleased with our visit! Ambiance was perfect, service was great! Very reasonable and atmosphere was cozy and romantic. Get the arugula and pear salad and the lamb shank!! The pasta in the cheese wheel is to die for as well.

I really enjoyed Cacio e Pepe. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the host who was super friendly. The server , who was also sweet brought us our drinks quickly and recommended some appetizers for us to try! The cheese wheel pasta was amazing ! And so we’re the meatballs and barata. Everything tasted so fresh and authentic. I will definitely come back when I can!

The restaurant is named for their signature dish, and if it's a favorite, this is the place to go. The caciao e pepe is prepared fresh at your table, rich with parmesian and just the right amount of fresh pepper. Space is small, yet staff is accomadating.

Cacio e Pepe has a signature dish.....cacio e pepe served inside a wheel of parmigiana and it hooks us every time. We see other tables feasting on what look like tremendous other menu options and we know because we ask everyone sitting nearby. Everyone loves the food here, newcomers and old timers alike. And that's why everyone keep going back again and again and again. 'Nuf said. Happy Thanksgiving 2017 to one and all.

Great restaurant with great food. A little unusual in that they only accept Americans Express or cash, was not prepared for that. All else, however, was fantastic!

I’m a fan of Cacio e Pepe pasta (not the resto) so if I go to a restaurant that is called that way, my expectations are high, moreover so when the pasta is pricy. The preparation is fancy, but the taste is no better than any other place.

Overall good experience but a bit disappointed on the food.

This was the biggest disappointment in a dinning experience I have EVER had. I called two times to tell them it was my boyfriends birthday and they did not even acknowledge it our entire meal. The pasta wasn't even cheesy and the servings were so small. The place was so expensive and the quality of the food was average at BEST. Oh and also- if you're going to only accept American Express then you should probably mention it before handing me the check after we have already eaten. This place was not worth it, and I would not advise anyone to eat there. Much better places to eat in NYC.

The food was overpriced which we knew but the quality just wasn’t great. Two of our guest got sick that night. I also specified in the reservation and to the waitress that we were celebrating a birthday to please bring out a candle. That never happened. She came by our table maybe twice the whole night we had to ask for water or the check by asking other waiters.

This Destefano was amazing. All of their dishes where so tasty! Myself and my four friend each got something different and passed our plates around to each other to share! Our waiter was so kind and all his recommendations were amazing!!! This place is a must go when you are in NYC!

Went there for the cacio e pepe. Unfortunately it was too much pepper for my taste as all I could taste was the peppers and kept biting into the pepper corns even though i was trying to pull them out. Next time i will ask for less or no pepper.

We were fortunate enough to get an early dinner reservation 6:30 pm the night before. We were seated immediately and enjoyed a wonderful meal. It got very busy by the time we were on our second course. The food, cocktails, and dessert were all wonderful. Admittedly I was a little sceptical because of mixed reviews but we had a great experience with staff, food and service and wouldn't hesitate to return again!

Food excellent as always. Incredibly noisy; made worse by a group of extremely loud alchohol-fueled women nearby. It really made having a conversation difficult. (I recently had a hearing test and was told my hearing was perfect, so this is a legitimate observation.) The restaurant should consider some sound-absorbing materials.

Very nice experience. Only a couple issues. We sat outside, in the back garden/patio. There were three of us, so we had two small tables pushed together. Both tables were wobbly. The chairs were small, and not that sturdy (and I am a 125lbs, so not me). Kind of felt off balance all evening.
They do no take any credit cards, other than American Express. I don't have an AE card, so I had to get cash out of the cash machine that they have in the restaurant. That was ok, but the machine only allows 200 max, so if I hadn't had some extra cash with me, I would not have been able to cover the bill and reasonable tip.

The waitress completely ruined my birthday. She embarrassed me in front of all my guest because she THOUGHT I wasn’t gonna tip. She didn’t even was nice at all, but as a decent client I still was gonna tip. Always do. And she though I didn’t because she took the check before we were done and said in front of my guests that we didn’t give her enough money. It was the worse thing have ever happen to me. She complete ruined my night and my birthday celebration. I will never going back to this place and is a shame because I used to go a lot and I will never recommend it to anyone. Worse experience ever.
