Cacio e Pepe
One of our favorite restaurants! Always good especially the Cacio e Pepe pasta. It is the best I ever had.
Our go to Italian in East Village.. consistently good pasta, friendly service, and overall upbeat and fun vibe...Tonight our server was exceptional and made the night even better!! Def worth a try if you are in the neighborhood !
We had a great experience overall! We’ll definitely be back!
The place is too small yet they try to squeeze in chairs and tables that you can't get up without hitting the person next to you if it is occupied. The service sucks! Didn't even introduce his name, when asked about stuff in the menu, obvious that he doesn't want to be bothered longer. But on the other table, was jolly and interactive. And when they took stuff and cleaned the table, just grabbed stuff and kept over reaching without an excuse me. And the cacio pasta wasn't even what I expected. They didn't even give us bread with the cheese and meat not until asked. Service sucks,no personalities, and the food is mediocre so didn't even compensate, making it a not recommended place!
Worth the hype! Saw it on insta and wanted to try the cheese wheel it was so delicious!!
very nice covered garden in the back! We enjoyed the food and the ambiance
Best sunday pasta dinner! Food is amazing
Very good food. Staff was super nice.
Thank you so much !!!
Lovely place. You can tell they care about making your meal and night special. Delicious, traditional dishes especially the cacio e pepe prep. Thanks.
It has a chain restaurant type feel. We were in and out in an hour. We pretty much didn’t have a server. The host seated us and quickly asked for our order. The food came out quickly. But he never came back to us. We basically had a runner bring our food and that was it. If that’s what your looking for, quick in and out meal, it’s not a bad thing. Food was pretty good. 85% of the restaurant was there to order Cacio e Pepe for the experience of the pasta being mixed in the cheese wheel. We ordered it. It was fun and tasted good. Seeing that the wait staff had shirts with the name of the restaurant on it said a lot to me about the service. I feel the price of the menu reflected the experience. Had it been more expensive I would have been upset about the rushed service. Quick turn over was clearly their goal. They also had their card machine down but had a cash machine for you to use in the back. Given the $5 service charge to have to take cash out, they should have taken $5 off the bill since they are the ones with a down machine. I don’t plan on returning but it certainly wasn’t a terrible experience. Just mediocre.
The food is alright. Not worth the price, there are much better Italian places...I will say that the creme brûlée appetizer was amazing tho. However, everything else was just ok. ALSO, you can only pay cash or American Express......it does not say ANYWHERE on the door or anywhere else that they don’t accept CC, which is not right. If you insist they’ll take your CC (I had no choice I had no cash and only a CC). I’ve been to so many incredible Italian restaurants here and this one was just not it
Best pasta I’ve ever had at a restaurant!! Extremely tight and loud space, but definitely worth it. A little out dated with only accepting cash and Amex
A little tight in the restaurant, but the food was delicious and very affordable
Salvatore the chef pushes the bar set on flavors. The servers make sure you’re cared for. Every dish leaves you wanting more.
Limited menu. Everyone comes for the Cacio e Pepe! Which is good and creamy/. Everything seemed very salty to me. Fast dinner - food came quick. Place filled up by the time we left. Everyone eating the the "Cheese Wheel" pasta.
Service and food was excellent
Consistent. Always great food and service. The staff is friendly, attentive, professional and informed. Class operation top to bottom. My favorite restaurant in the city.
The food was amazing, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The presentation on the namesake dish is wonderful, and you should order it just to see it served!
Nice place bit expensive for what us is : pasta !!!
We got all the classics and loved it. The parmesan creme brûlée appetizer was awesome – an unexpected and fun treat! The Cacio e Pepe pasta dish is not only fun to watch but also tasty and filling.
Food was great - I enjoyed watching how the Cacio e Pepe pasta was served. Great for dates and small groups of 4.
My only critique is that you have to pay in cash or American Express. It's 2020, we should be able to pay with any type of credit/debit card these days.
I would gladly come back.
Caccio e Pepe is the best place
Did not know they only took American Express. cash only ATM in the back would have brought cash if I knew
As always, wonderful food great service and a warm friendly host. We never miss coming here anytime we are in NYC. All our friends and relatives we referred here are fans also. This time I bought their Cacio e Pepe t shirt.
Very limited menu. Tight and cluttered seating area, and the pasta in the cheese wheel is nothing special to rave about with the small portions they serve.
Amazing! Loved the cheese wheel!
We had a reservation for 9pm and we arrived they informed us that they were running late. The restaurant is very cramped so there wasn’t even a bar that we could sit at to wait for our table. We finally got seated at 9:45pm. They were busy so service felt very rushed. Bread was cold and the marinara sauce was bland. The appetizer and food was just ok. I had the signature cacio e pepe and it was underwhelming at best. FYI that they only accept AMEX and cash which I did not see mentioned on their website. We were caught off guard but thankfully they had an ATM on-site. Overall, this whole experience was an extreme disappointment and I would not return nor recommend this restaurant to anyone
Even though I had a reservation for 7:30, I wasn’t seated until 8:40—the restaurant’s mismanagement made for a lot of unhappy customers. Very disappointing.
Amazing as always !!
Amazing tasting food and fast service! Authentic Italian flavour!
Cacio e Pepe was great years ago when it and Lupa were the only places in the city to order the eponymous dish. Now that cacio e pepe shows up on menus across town, the restaurant needs another reason to dine there. There isn’t.
Delicious food...the pasta in the cheese wheel so good ...Tiramisu one of the best I ever had...my whole party enjoyed their meal even basic lasagna was delicious...always a good choice for a nice night out with family and or friends
The pasta cheese wheel was fun but overall not worth the hype.
We have been many times to the restaurant. The food is good but a patron feels like they are eating with a stopwatch timing them. The restaurant staff circles around looking for plates that “might” be finished to whisk them away to turn the table and get you finished, out and a new table seated. I know that’s how restaurants work, but it’s very obvious here. There really is no relaxing meal despite good food. Tables are crowded into a very small space to where it’s often tough to pull out your chair or move to a table. It’s very close to being good. Treating the customers just like dollar signs, and having you feel that, is disappointing
The food was outstanding! Cace e Pepe and the Sardinian breast with the creme brûlée with balsamic gelato !!! Great .. Good wine
Will definitely go back !!
Classic Italian food just really well done. We went for the Cacio e Pepe mixed table side in the Parmesan wheel but were blown away by everything we ate. Fantastic experience. 5*
Food and Service were fantastic!
