Cabernet Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Excellent food, excellent service. The one complaint/drawback is there is an enclosed smoking room/cigar bar that even across the other side of the restaurant we could smell. If the rest of the experience was not so good this could have ruined it, but the food/service made up for it. But if you are super sensitive to smoke, avoid...
First two bottles of Napa Cabernet requested were “not available”...learning after 5-10 minute search by waiter after each selection.
Third choice (recommended by the Sommelier who had now involved himself after two misses) came to table and was supposed to be a 2012 Napa Cabernet as printed on wine list, but was a 2014. Really?
Not impressed with a restaurant that goes by the name of... Anyhow, wine list is great (if not in inventory)...and food is always excellent. When your wine selection isn’t available...grab a martini and save yourself the hunt.
My wife and I were celebrating our 16th anniversary and our choice of the right restaurant was easy; right ambiance, perfectly skilled and friendly staff, an excellent kitchen, superb wines, the complete package. I made the reservation online and they welcomed us when we came in and congratulated us on out anniversary, such a nice welcome touch. throughout the evening, we were given the privacy we required, but always on point to answer questions, bring us some more wine etc. a special touch was the heavenly desert on the house. this was not necessary, but very well appreciated by my wife and I. this was not the first, but definitely not the last time time we will be seen to indulge us in the atmosphere of "Cabernet"
It was our first time at Cabernet. We went for New Year's Eve dinner. I've lived in the area for a long time and always wanted to go, and it was SO worth it! Highly recommend if you (and your wallet) are in the mood for classic steak house. Seafood appetizers were fresh and tasty. Salads were very, very good. I had a filet with scallop add-on for dinner, and it was amazingly good... a great cut and cooked to perfection! Desserts were wonderful. And the service was fantastic, both in the bar area and in the dining room. Everyone we had contact with was super customer-focused and it seemed their only mission was to make sure that we enjoyed every single second we were on the property. The cigar bar was an added plus, as I did not know that was there. For reference, they had a special pre-fixe NYE menu available, but everything we ordered was off the regular menu and available anytime. I am already looking forward to going back. Thanks, Cabernet staff, for a wonderful evening!
We had a 6:45pm reservation on New Years Eve, however we were not sat for nearly an hour. The service was very slow & we felt unattended to. Table was not ready when we were seated, no drink menus or food menus when servers arrived to take our order, and service was disorganized. I was sad to have this particular experience, as I have had better experiences with Cabernet in the past.
Exceptional New Years Eve dinner. Reservations made through Open Table for 6 pm. Arrived about 10 minutes early. Two valet gentlemen were waiting on us to open our car doors and park the car. Walk in and checked in. We were immediately escorted to our table. The service was excellent. We actually had two gentlemen handling our requests, to my surprise. We ordered two of the 'inclusive' meals. The prime rib must have been 1.5 pounds and was served medium, as ordered. The 10 ounce sirloin was perfect at medium well. The sides complimented each of the main courses. The scotch was smooth and the Malbec glass of wine from Argentina complemented the meal. For dessert, the Banana Foster was entertainment as well as delicious. We never felt rushed on our NYE dinner and left around 7 pm. This night confirmed why we go here for special nights. Even on New Years Eve, we were made to feel special and welcome.
I debated about writing this review but I think you need to know that my meal was very average at best. My fish was dry and small. My salad was the worst Caesar that I have had. I have told a lot of my friends how disappointed I was and probably won’t be back. Sorry but I had to be honest.
This was my first time eating at Cabernet. A group of us went for my partner's birthday. I had called the restaurant prior to the evening, to ask if they allow outside cakes to be brought in for a birthday. They confirmed that would be fine. Upon arrival to the restaurant, there was a male and female at the host stand; they weren't overly welcoming at all. I handed them the cake, and they didn't ask any questions. About half way through our meal, I asked our waiter, Greg, if he knew about the cake I had brought. No one had told him - so I guess if I hadn't mentioned it, it wouldn't have gotten served to our party. Additionally, I was supposed to get a Caesar salad with my meal, but never received it. I didn't even ask about it, because we were too far into the meal at that point. Also, not sure if the waiter we had was having a bad day, but I didn't like his attitude/tone. For a restaurant of this caliber, he wasn't overly accommodating at all. Hal's in Buckhead slays my experience at Cabernet. As for ambiance, there lighting needs to be dimmed, and music in the main restaurant, rather than just the bar. Very disappointed.
Celebrated 41st anniversary at Cabernet, which has become a tradition. As always, the food was well prepared and servers were very attentive. This happened to be on a Saturday evening during the holidays, so the noise level was pretty high. Everyone seemed to be having a wonderful evening and we enjoyed the energy of the place. Plan to come back for future anniversaries.
The good first:
The Signature Ribeye was fantastic, as was the rest of the food. We got: Foie Gras, Lobster bisque, creamed spinach, Cream corn, twice baked potato. All was fantastic.
We really enjoyed the cigar bar after dinner. We stayed there for 4 more hours after dinner. The cigar selection was nice. The smoke filter system worked well for how many cigars / cigarettes were burning. The music in the cigar bar was really good. As the night went on, it turned into a night club, which was very cool.
Now to the not so good:
Even though we had a reservation, they stuck us in the back corner of the restaurant. Every time the heat kicked on, we were all roasting. They did turn the heat down, which made it much better. But if you have the option, sit in the main dining room, not the little room at the back.
The bourbon list was pretty decent, but the prices were ridiculous! $16 for a maker's 46! That entire bottle costs $35. I think the lowest priced bourbon was 11.50, and it was terrible. The wine prices were much better, and a good selection.
The waiter was very congenial, but seemed to be either inexperienced or overwhelmed with his number of tables. I never received my salad and mentioned it to the waiter, but nothing happened. My wife was served the wrong salad, but at least they corrected the error. Her medium well steak was not too far from jerky it had been so overcooked. We gave up caring and left. We dine at Cabernet only 3 or 4 times a year and everything had always been very good, but we will not be back.
This is 4th time we’ve been there and each times it’s a little less everything. The menu hasn’t been updated for years but being a steakhouse of the old fashioned kind it’s what you’d expect. Menu simple so it should be perfect. Filet a little tough, scallops a little overdone. Good but not great.at the prices and out of date menu it should have been great. It’s now off our list of overnite trip to that area. Too bad
This was our first time dining here. It was our anniversary. We had a 5:30 reservation and were the only ones in the restaurant until close to 6:00. That was a nice treat. The food and service were amazing! My only comment would be it would have been nice to have complimentary dessert since it was a special occasion.
Beautiful decor! Interesting & diverse menu.
A large bug was on our table, which I captured and showed to the server. Immediately, the manager appeared at our table, sincerely apologized and comped our entire meal.
The meal was quite good, but the salmon was average.
Very good experience, great service and the menu was very rich! We had a Senior Leadership Team off site meeting and choose Cabernet Steakhouse because we wanted a nice streak dinner. We definitely got what we wanted! Location is good for travelers and business alike. I mist mention that the seafood selection was outstanding...I personally had the lobster scampi dish! AMAZING
