C2-Congress Squared Restaurant
Too few servers on a very busy Friday evening. Hostess and kitchen staff pitched in to prevent a major problem but overall service and timeliness was not what it had been on previous visits. Food remained very good.
The service was horrible and I was in that restaurant four times while attending a conference in four days. The food was horrible and the prices are ridiculous. A beee costs $7 which is unheard of!
We went on a Friday. We were there 5:15 to 6:45. Only one or two pother customers. Didn't understand that. Maybe much to early.
Not very busy on a Saturday night. Food and service were great.
With all the great restaurants in Portland, eating at a hotel isn't something we would normally do, but we wanted a quiet place that was "easy". With the separate entrance, C2 doesn't feel like you're in a hotel but once inside, there's definitely a hotel vibe. The beet salad was GREAT, the flank steak and burger AWESOME, and the service very good. I'd say it's a very good option in the sea of Portland restaurants!
Food was great with a variety of choices and the service was very friendly and helpful. Very nice place for lunch and not too crowded.
Having forgotten to make reservations earlier I found a table at C2. It was restuarant week but they only had one wait staff. I told her I had theater tickets but since she had very little help I left without the third course of my meal. The food was adequate but the menu other than the restuarant week special was not particularly interesting.
The waitestaff was fair had to wait a long time for water refills and they were not that busy. The food was fair the nuts used were not cooked. I had not been there in a long time and it will be a long time till I go back. Not the quality servers or food you expect for the price. We paid over $200.00 for 2 people and did not have the experience food the price.
Friendly wait staff excellent food, drink menu dessert menu very nice. Arrived early sat us without wait.
Great food and service! Creative cocktails, however the drinks were a bit on the heavier side. If that’s your thing, then they were perfect.
Stuck in a hotel with a Christmas-Day reservation in Portland Oregon instead of Portland Maine? Lucky we found our error in time to get the last 2 PM booking at C2-Congress Squared Restaurant via Open Table! The food was OK and the service seemed harried although there weren't many patrons. Amazing we had the sense we were just squeezing in when the place was half empty. I suppose they were gearing up for a big slug of new customers right after we left. Restrooms almost impossible to find.
My companion had a plate of seared salmon and I had a modest serving of "sea scallops", these scallops far smaller than what I would expect from the Maine fisheries. Rhode Island's scallops are much larger. The food was good, well-arranged, but frankly I'm not into food-as-art. My companion's "hot rum toddy" was lukewarm at best and it took 15 minutes to get it back. The winter squash soup was excellent.
Christmas Eve dinner. I thought for the grandeur of the hotel, the restaurant wouldn’t look like the breakfast room of the Hampton Inn. The food was good. The waiter wore tired jeans and the lighting was bright. Not a good choice for dinner on the town, but probably suitable for breakfast if staying at the hotel.
Btw. I was disappointed in The Top of the East bar in the hotel. The chairs need to be replaced as the pleather was coming off on my clothes. The drinks were great, the service slow though our waiter was working very hard.
Food was not hot & was not anything special!
This was perhaps one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. I wish we had stayed at the bar upstairs, or ordered room service. Service was awful and the food was even worse. Save yourself the disappointment and go to the Chinese place down the street.
Did not expect the meal to be served buffet style. The service was very poor.
It's difficult to get excited when there are insects in the food!!!
The food was very poor and the place lacked any kind of ambiance. The chicken salad was not fresh at all. I had to wait for my dinner because the server had accidentally put in the wrong order, which meant two people ate while I waited for mine. We will not be back.
Where to start. The Brussels sprouts were barely cooked and tasteless, and the so-called "heirloom" tomato salad was inedible. Large tomato halves were served that were white inside, no edible flesh st all. Let's just say that I had a granola bar when I got back to my room! I certainly expected more from Westin.
Conveniently located, quiet, informal restaurant. Servers were friendly but service was slow, perhaps because they were also helping to prepare food. Salmon and haddock entrees were very good, if a bit spare. Cobb salad was disappointing.
Pork chop was excellent!
Worst service I have ever experienced.
We both ordered fish and chips. Both came out cold! When served, I asked the waitress for some malt vinegar. It never came.
Don’t waste your time and money here!
it was delicious perfect location cause we had tickets to the state theater...soo close
Only problem was a few flies and small bugs hovering about
Bland food for expensive price. The food was very bland and had little taste. It was also very pricey for what it was. It was pricey hotel food is how we would characterize it.
Hotel restaurant. Food was good potato for breakfast was hot spicy and they had spicy chicken sausage
Really slow and poor service.
The food was great but the service was amazing.
Front of the house needs to get it together. There should be at least one staff available in reception/dining room even when business is slow.
Waiting 5 minutes for a hostess to appear in order to be seated is not acceptable.
On the upside, the kitchen and the young waitstaff are very good.
Food was delicious, the environment was nice. Clean and up to date. Went on Mother's Day for dinner, it was nearly empty which makes the slow inattentive service baffling. Perhaps all the regular staff was off for Mother's Day? Throughout our meal we had 3 different servers. Good beer selection, though not many on tap. Excellent wine selections and very good cocktails. We'll return.
Overpriced for what you get.
We were very disappointed with the Brunch. We were there for Easter Brunch and expected the same quality and similar food. We couldn’t believe they did not even have toast , bagels. For $55 we all felt like we were robbed. Our waitress looked over whelmed and we had to request water several times. Even when the coffee was served milk and sugar not provided. Very very disappointed
We came for a 4-generation Mothers Day brunch. We agreed the food was good. Please pass that on to kitchen. The company was the best part of the experience because we bring that wherever we go.
Our reservation was for 10 o'clock. Upon prompt arrival we were seated in a weird, windowless room near entrance. A stack of linens, array of clipboards, pile of silverware were on a side table. There was not one flower, nor a single picture on the wall in the room. I asked to be seated in the restaurant and was told there were no tables available. We prepared to leave, then your staff person (server?, hostess?...) offered to find another table. She did and we were seated in the dining room among many vacant tables. She then explained that the buffet was not ready, but by the time she finished her sentence, said it was ready. All rather strange. She was nice and tried to be helpful, but was quite harried as were the rest of the staff. All were sweating which was off-putting. She tried her best, but the intermittent service was not good. It took a long time for simple requests like cream for coffee, juice etc, and water that never came. After waiting a while for the check which never came, I went to pay and met our server who had the bill. I had my credit card in hand which she reached for before allowing me see the bill. When I asked to look it she then asked me my granddaughter's age. Then she adjusted the bill because she is 4 1/2.
Upon departure, a staff person said this to my 88 year old mother-in-law: "Thanks for showin' up". Not particularly professional to say the least. We won't be back and I'll be sharing our experience. For $200 I wish we had gone to Becky's diner.
Thanks for askin'.
Treated myself to a special dinner at C2-Congress Squared Restaurant, as a start to my vacation. Started with a lovely specialty drink called Co-Pilot. Ordered the Grilled Berkshire Pork Chop entrée, which was quite good. Overall a very nice dining experience.
I was hoping for brunch but it had ended before we got there
Fantastic Easter Brunch !.
We had a very enjoyable dinner and would definitely recommend this restaurant. Our waiter was great, attentive and knowledgeable. The menu not that extensive, but seems to be something for everyone for dinner. Not sure if there is a children’s menu. Worth a try!
Excellent 3 course restaurant week menu and fair price for wine pairing. Very attentive service and comfortable atmosphere. Will definitely be back for regular full priced menu!
A few friends and I went for restaurant week and it was spectacular!! Out server was amazing and we had a wonderful time! Oh and the food was delicious!!
Valentine’s Date night. Nice & quiet, attentive service, amazing dessert.
Great eatery! Last minute reservation and asked for a bouquet of flowers for Valentine’s Day, they had a beautiful arrangement of roses on the table when we arrived. Staff was very respectful and responsive to our dining experience. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a quiet everyday dinner or special occasion.
