Bookings for OpenTable Experiences were up 27% YoY.*

No signs of slowing down: a survey revealed 42% of diners said they would be more interested in (or doing more) experiential dining in 2025 vs. 2024.**

The most popular kinds of dining experiences diners are interested in trying in 2025 include: tasting menus (38%), dinner and a show (34%), bottomless brunch (29%), special deals/promotional offers (28%), and themed dining experiences (16%). **

2. Wednesdays are the new Friday

Why wait for the weekend? Mid-week dining is on the rise, with Wednesday emerging as the biggest trending dining day, perhaps due to hybrid or remote working schedules.

Wednesday saw the largest increase* (+11%) in seated diners compared to any other day of the week, year-over-year.

OpenTable data* reveals group dining is up 8% year-over-year, with 10am and 6pm seeing the highest increase year-over-year (+11%).

We’re consistently seeing more large parties at our restaurants – while we do see a lot of special occasions, we’re also seeing ‘just because’ group dining,” said Kevin Boehm, Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Boka Restaurant Group and OpenTable Advisory Board Member.

We love this because we know magic happens when people come together over a meal and hope to see this build momentum into 2025.

This is lead by younger generations: 71% of Gen Z and 68% of Millennials plan to dine more at restaurants in 2025**.

*OpenTable Data: OpenTable looked at online reservations for all restaurants active on the OpenTable platform from January 1 – September 30, 2024 and compared it to the same range in 2023.

**OpenTable Consumer Research: An online survey was conducted by PureSpectrum among 1503 US consumers. Within this sample, major cities have been weighed for direct comparison. The research fieldwork took place between 25 October – 4th November, 2024.
