C Street Ratings and Reviews
drove down from alexandria. took my grandson to lunch. food was great. the other possibilities on the list make me want to come back for dinner or happy hour. the scallop chowder was excellent, as were the sliders and the burgers. exceptional. very reasonable prices. we would recommend your restaurant to anyone looking to eat in Richmond.
The food was delicious, but the service was lacking. We enjoyed our appetizers (deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes) and meals (vegetarian and meat). The place was pretty empty for a Saturday night, but there was nice live music throughout the evening. However, our server was not very attentive, especially for how empty it was. It was an enjoyable experience overall, but I hope the service is usually better.
We've been to C Street a handful of times for brunch and dinner and it is always very good. It tends to be on the quiet side which is a nice change from the many over the top noisy restaurants in town. They have a lovely outdoor patio and on the evening we went, a wonderful jazz trio. Would highly recommend it!
Went here to celebrate daughter's birthday. Lovely outdoor area with jazz quartet playing. Unfortunately, a large loud party was there and disturbed the ambience. Service was awful. Good just okay. Meat and cheese platter was worse than a lunchable. Will not return.
We met some friends on a Saturday night. Very nice night out and we had 7:30 seating. We were shocked they were out of Chardonnay (l and Bombay Sapphire Gin to start. They were able to "find" some white wine eventually. They ran out of a few of the regular menu items and the delivery was very, very slow. We complained to the owner and received little sympathy about their lack of preparedness and delivery. Ambience was very nice, shame the service was poor (not the waiters fault) and management so uncaring.
Started looking for a place that met my reservation criteria as we had play tickets at 8:30 and found this restaurant. We had eaten in the location when it was Acacia a long while ago. Knew we liked the location and the comments seemed like we should give it a try plus it has some parking right next door. They also have jazz outside on Friday and Saturday evening which was another pleasant surprise. We chose to sit outside in their courtyard to hear the band and there was a pleasant breeze even though it was a warm evening. The inside of he restaurant now has two bars clearly if they do events. They have added seating in that large room that was a shop. Inside was cool but the bar was noisy and bathrooms were clean.
We started with the crab cake appetizer and it was very good. 3 smaller cakes with little filling and lot of crab plus a wonderful dipping sauce. We then did the salad special of watermelon, blueberries, feta and a dressing which was very refreshing and well balanced. The dinner was lamb shank with fresh vegetables and potatoes and chicken with vegetables and rice. All very good and not over seasoned. Drinks were a mojito (not enough rum), glass of Chardonnay (very nice) and then an IPA (solid choice).
Recommend for sure and will go back to hear some more good jazz though with no mojito.
The array of waiters who came to our table was amazing. About every 10 minutes a new waiter would come out with dinner and ask us if we had ordered this the answer was no. This happened to us three times. My friend ordered salmon when it came out it was white looking and we figured it was just different but it turns out it was not salmon. The waiter made no amends for the mistake. When we ordered cocktails the waiter took one person at a time order to the bar so it took 20 minutes for all four of us to have a drink at the same time. We were all very disappointed and we will never return to this restaurant
The special occasion was my 32 year old daughter's visit. We had a lovely time.
The wait person was fantastic.
The food was great. (eggs benedict with fresh crab) & (poached eggs on toast)
The coffee was strong like I like it.
I had a champagne cocktail with lemon, lime and a splash of cranberry which was tasty.
We were not rushed.
I love the tea lights.
The table linen was a good feel as well as the silverware.
I hope that you will still be a focus on Carytown when my daughter visits again from California.
After, our celebration with C Street we headed over to Perceptions Spa to continue our pampering day.
Three dishes were great. My veal cutlets were overcooked . Appetizers slow coming out. Had to ask where they were. Breads and spreads had no bread, just crackers.
Service poor. Guy was new. Had not been trained properly. Nice guy, however. Good attitude. Tipped 20%.
We have been to C Street a few times now as it is one of the few restaurants in Richmond where you can actually enjoy a conversation with your friends as the noise level is low. The food was very good. The service was lacking. The waitstaff seemed harried, as though they were minus a server or 2. Our waiter, though friendly, needs more education on how to serve. Even though we were at a table that was accessible from all sides he crossed over one customer's face to serve another instead of walking around. He did that when serving the food, but also when filling the water glasses. It was annoying, as was clearing plates before all diners were finished, though, many restaurants are guilty of that. The service at C Street seems to be lacking. It's a nice restaurant, and I'll still go there, but it could be so much better with a more professional staff.
Went here on a Friday night, it was our first time inside the place and it is an architectural gem! We were surprised to see only three other tables occupied and no one at the bar, it's Friday night in Carytown this place should have been busy. So needless to say we weren't sure how it was going to be.
Glad we stayed, the drinks were generous sized and the food was great.
Someone needs to market this restaurant more....
