    Nice food, one or two of the cakes a bit disappointing. Service excellent. Speaker immediately behind me a bit intrusive but overall great.

    We visited on a Wed eve and the restaurant was buzzing. We were so lucky that there was an incredible jazz ensemble playing in one of the corners which really made the perfect ambience, we thought it was a wonderful touch and made the evening much more special. Wish more restaurants would do this as it gave a focus and made us stay (and drink) a little more than we would have. It did take an absolute age to get the bill at the end and for them to come back and take our money and we had to get up and ask several staff several times.

    We were a table of 8 and staying one night. Could not fault the place. Every member of staff we encountered was a credit to the hotel and themselves. Thoroughly recommend.

    Found a huge hair in one of the cherry cola macarons which was incredibly off putting. Food was ok but sandwiches were hard around edges where they had sat out, and scones exceptionally dry. Didn’t live up to the hype. Really disappointed as had been looking forward to this for a ling time. I’d recommend hair nets are used when making the cakes as this was frankly revolting to find a full length hair baked into the macaron.

    We sat in the front room and we had the Afternoon Tea Extravaganza. It was brilliant. Too much choice!! The staff were very friendly and attentive. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

    Being shown to the 'perfect' table by pleasant member of staff, settled in with our menu, only to be told that this table had already been requested sometime previously by another party? We were then shown to the next room to a table for 4. The door was open to the street, car noise/and some fumes made this a far less pleasant table, twice we got up from our seat to close the door, after a while the waiting staff 'cottoned on' to the fact that we did not wish to sit in a wind tunnel! We felt that some of the food was not at the standard we were accustomed to at Byfords after using their Cafe/Restaurant for many years. This was a particular disappointment for our 2 Grandsons staying with us , as they had a wonderful evening on their last visit and had requested that they would enjoy another visit. After a 30 mile drive to go to Byfords from our home in West Norfolk, it was sad it turned out like this! There are some very friendly, helpful staff at Byfords, just get yourselves better organized.

    Very pleased with the whole experience from start to finish. Food, staff all exceptional. Witnessed a very grumpy and rude customer being dealt with in the most professional manor, who went above and beyond to please them despite their rudeness. Will return very soon. Thank you for a lovely evening Byfords.
