Everyone who ordered one enjoyed their burgers. The pate and Steak Tartar were also great.
Noise level was high but it was a fantastic place to catch a pre show dinner before going next door to Town Hall.
Loved the atmosphere, a nice upmarket pub style. It was warm and cozy, much needed on a cold day sightseeing. Staff were very attentive. Food was great.
Good food but the restaurant fit
Convenient location. Good food. Very loud. We had a big group, service was exceptional and attentive.
We had dinner at BXL before attending Hamilton (again!). Entrees (roasted salmon with mashed potatoes/grilled veggies and meatloaf with mashed potatoes/grilled veggies) were good, bread was wonderfully crusty, and service was friendly and efficient. But the noise level, boosted by some random thumping music, was quite loud. Is it really necessary to play loud music in a restaurant?
Picture in website looked nothing like the restaurant does now. Smelled of beer and menus were dirty! Would not eat here!
Always a cozy, convenient and reliable experience. Great mussels and comfort food
This excellent gem just blocks away from Grand Central Station is a must try! The mussels are fabulous as is the tartine! Great selection of salads and other appetizers as well. The entrees are exceptionally prepared and the beer selections are not to be missed! A special shout out to Nathan the manager and Eugene an excellent bartender and waiter as well!
The mussels were fantastic! Plea NYU to choose from. I was hoping to get some good Belgian frites however they seemed to be the frozen variety. Overall a good experience
Thought we might have made a mistake at first because the place was empty on a Sunday morning during brunch time but it must just be a very well kept secret!
Best Eggs Benedict we’ve ever had in a restaurant and the service/ staff was/ were excellent! Cheaper drinks than we’ve seen at other brunch places as well.
Outstanding food everytime we go....must be our 15th time....going again this week with my children.
Service is great and prices are extremely reasonable
They were very accommodating, I was 34 minutes late, I called thinking I would be 15 minutes late. Got a seat at the bar, and and delicious meal and great service. I would definitely go back!
much too loud (not "energetic"L:OUD) ; seating too close to kitchen door: I kept getting bumped. food okay, but greens were wilted, did not like the marinated herring: too tough.
Great beer selection and food. Staff is super kind! We went here for brunch on a Saturday with our two boys and our friends son and it was perfect!
nice to find a Belgian Café-brasserie in New York. we could drink a real Belgian Beer en good Belgian food!
the owners are real nice and friendly!
thanks for the cosy evening, so close to Times Square!
next time we come to NYC, we surely come back!
Excellent authentic Belgian food, great service and ambiance!
Yes, the staff were very welcoming. We were a large party and they took good care of us to get us out in time for a show. Nice spot....little oasis in the middle of chaos!
Fun place to be, acceptable food, less of a ripoff than one might expect in Times Square.
Staff was very attentive and accommodating. Nice little restaurant with great desserts!
Lovely breakfast meal in a casual environment and setting. Good service. Enjoyable morning.
First time. Crowded on a Friday but food was good (hanger steak for me and meat loaf for her)and service accommodating fir such a busy place. Next to The Town Hall.
Busy little bar and restaurant with excellent food and service. The chicken pie Is delectable
The place has its charm, tucked into a small part of times square among the larger well known and well worn places that serve Italian, Asian and other cuisines. The bar is well attended with all your familiar bottles. The beer list is fat and inviting. The TVs are situated strategically throughout the room with soccer playing on all of them and with patrons who are involved to the point of hysteria over every shot on goal, whistle and card, let alone the occasional goal. The menu is eclectic, but thematic. This is a Belgian restaurant..not just a pub. But, there is pub fare. The servers are attentive and the food was good, hot and worth the price you are paying.
We left right after we were seated.
It is a loud screaming happy hour bar.
We could not hear each other speak.
Too bad, the menu looked great.
So glad we discovered this little Times Square gem. Well prepared, reasonably priced food. The $22 weekend brunch is a great deal!
BXL on 43rd is always great. They are welcoming, provide friendly, efficient service, and awesome food. Tonight we had mussels and beef tips. Both were delish. You cant go wrong there.
Great food and beers. Really noisy every time. Makes conversation tough.
Went pre-theater. Very noisy (barely possible to hold a conversation), food edible but not interesting, and bland. Service was good. Pretty expensive considering quality and ambiance.
I was here before an event at Town Hall. This place needs either a better separation between the bar and dining areas or better acoustic treatment. The noise level was absolutely horrible. I was also disappointed in the food. I had the "Belgian" Meatballs. They could have come out of any plastic bag in the freezer section of any grocery. Overall, I was very disappointed in the total experience. That said, however, I must add that the wait staff was awesome. Attentive without hovering and extremely pleasant. They were the highlight of the meal.
Very nice to find a little piece of Belgium in the heart of New York City! And as a Belgian I am always proud to see that all other nationalities enjoy our good food AND good beers!!
Great food but VERY noisy. I would go again in a Heartbeat.
Food is always amazing at BXL! Great Belgium pub!
We loved everything about our brunch at the BXL Cafe and have already recommended it to many friends. The food, the service and the atmosphere were all amazing and the menu selection has something for everyone. The mussels are a must!!! Can’t wait to return again soon. Not to be missed.
Mediocre food, inattentive service. Not a good value.
We happened on this restaurant when searching for a place for dinner before the theater. The menu looked intriguing and the reviews were primarily good. We were greeted immediately with a warm smile and a good evening, guided to a table in the dining room (a long bar occupies the front portion), and our drink orders were taken immediately. Our server was very sweet and helpful. She explained several items on the menu and made recommendations based on the tastes we expressed. Our appetizers arrived quickly and were hot and tasty. Our dinners were huge portions, beautifully plated, and hot. We also ordered a dessert to share, which was smart, because it was very rich and huge. We don't drink, but the beer list was extensive with an emphasis on Belgian beers. We had iced tea, which was fresh brewed and refilled when nearing empty. By the time we left for a 7:30 performance, the bar was full and lively, so this must be a popular place to congregate after work. The dining room and bar had several TVs tuned to various soccer games with the sound muted. One menu highlight was the large number of mussel preparations. They were a popular choice and served with fries. The large serving somewhat made up for the prices which were a bit high because of location hence the loss of one star for value. I think this is a great choice for theater dining before or after. Something for everyone.
Good food and good bar scene. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Accueil chaleureux, personnel prévenant. Les moules étaient excellentes, quantité généreuse. Prix abordables.
Whenever I am in NYC and in Midtown, I am always sure to stop in for a meal and sample from their many Belgian beers!
Wij hadden grote verwachtingen. Jammer.
This is one of the best “bar” dining experiences in NYC. Food is great and the staff is fantastic.
