Yum! Good food here! We tried the soup of the day, a spinach and cream soup, and the French onion soup, both very good. The breads were very flavorful. I had a veggie burger that comes with frites, and it was excellent. The other person had mussels with bacon and onion and he thought it was great. The beer selection is also nice, although one bottle of a specialty beer was $14. Service was very attentive, constantly filling up water glasses and replacing the bowl with mussel shells. We would go again.

The restaurant and the wait staff had great personality. Went based on the recommendation of a local in the theater scene and it did not disappoint. Great heart food and libations. Small but festive.

This little cafe was great before going to theater. The mussels were terrific, especially with the fries and Belgium beer!

This was our second visit to BXL. Solid menu and beer list and fair pricing for NYC. Staff was attentive and friendly. We'll be back again. Thanks!

Good food and attentive wait staff. They were ready for us when we came in and we were seated on time. Food menu was as expected - some of us ordered mussels Delicious) others ordered a variety other choices. It was loud - guess you can’t help that! - bathrooms were available but quite small.

I once had brunch here and I really enjoyed. So, I chose this restaurant for a get together with friends before a show on a Tuesday evening. The noise level was insane. Music was blasting from the speakers. That combined with the noise from the bar made it impossible for us to hear one another. We asked the hostess if the music could be lowered and she said, “No.”. I regretted choosing this restaurant and o wont be returning.

Great traditional Belgian food, with a strong beer selection. Service is spotty -- had to practically tackle a server to get a drink -- and the 70s disco soundtrack was too loud and an odd choice.

Found BXL through a Search for restaurants near Bryant Park. Visited during a girls trip for Christmas. Very happy with the atmosphere and service. Food was delicious. Ordered from the brunch menu, whole group liked the food.

Went with my husband for brunch this past Sunday. We had their brunch "special" which was basically any sandwich, or egg option on the menu with one mimosa or bloody mary and unlimited coffee for $20.00. He had the eggs benedict and I had a croque monsieur. Both we good just nothing special. We asked the waitress before we ordered what our dishes came with and she got both of the sides wrong. When we got the bill they had charged for the coffees but corrected it once my husband pointed it out. It was an okay/good brunch for the price.

Bar crowd so loud could not hear anything in dining area. I booked a reservation to meet sister and niece for pre-theatre dinner. Despite high trip advisor rating I found the whole experience unnerving. Couldn't engage in a conversation, waitress (when she was available) couldn't hear my requests, had to ask repeatedly for more water. It's obviously very popular, but I'd never go back and would never recommend.

Second visit here and was disappointed. Ordered mussels with bacon and the bacon was missing and celery and onions were over cooked. The mussels and fries were very good however. This is more of a bar with seating than a restaurant

Not horrible but no reason to go back. Waaaaay too crowded and over-the-top noisy. The places next door and across the street have much better burgers, and the mussels were overcooked. Fries soggy. Very nice host and server, but not enough reason to return or recommend.

We were very early for our reservation; the bartender kindly found us a couple of bar stools to perch on until our table was ready. Waitstaff were all cheery. Belgian beer and sausages were a treat! Have already recommended BXL to a friend. And, we'd go back.

The maitre d' seemed to be expecting us. As soon as I told him my name, he knew we needed a table for 2. The wait staff was friendly and just chatty enough. The food was very good and reasonably priced, especially for its Times Square/Broadway location.

Great for a quick meal with an amazing assortment of mussels and great beer selections.
Also burgers and other quick meals - not for the gourmet but quick and easy and centrally
located in the heart of the theatre district so totally convenient. Super noisy - not meant for quiet intimate conversations.

Belgian bistro. Authentic, based on long ago visits to Bruges and Ostend. I had Sun-Mon night all you can eat moules frites special, with a Stella thrown in. Loud hip hop constant, so if not a fan, not a place to linger. Wait staff pleasant.

We have eaten at this restaurant before and the noise level has generally been "energetic" (as the ratings diplomatically describe the highest level), but our recent experience last Thursday was actually painful. The bar was noisy, as bars usually, and understandably, are, but in the restaurant area it seemed that everyone at every table (mostly guys) was intent on shouting as loudly as he could. It was ear-splitting (it was truly a relief to get back out on the merely noisy street). It's a shame because the food is quite passable and prices are reasonable, but we won't be back.

Terrific brunch -- mussels and french toast. Both were terrific even though the combination sounds bizarre. Service was completely backwards -- brought me a lovely apply dessert with ice cream (that I didn't order) first, then mussels and french toast came together. Wish they'd served the mussels first, then the brunch. The dessert was redundant but very good. Bloody Mary was weak, even though I ordered a premium. The server was lovely, apologetic and it was all good. I'd definitely go back -- yummy mussels.

BXL Cafe’ is a MUST if you’re in The City. Hands-down, their all-you-can-eat Moules Frite special on Sun/Mon is the best dining deal in NYC. Loved it at 1st visit 7 yrs ago; same opinion now. Being in town but failing to dine at BXL would’ve been like having failed to attend a theatre production. LOVE BXL!!!

BXL Café was more bar than restaurant. It was packed and may be the loudest place I've ever eaten, to the point where the people at the table next to us were literally yelling at each other from 3' apart. Our group of four 60ish year olds gave up trying to talk, and leaned to within a foot to say anything. It's on us that we decided to stay. My wife ordered mussels. They were tasty but VERY small. I ordered the entrecote ribeye. It was over 50% inedible fat and grizzle (see uploaded photo, showing the last passable bite next to all the grizzle). I showed the pile of grizzle to the waitress, who seemed unconcerned but said she would talk to the manager. He/she never came to the table. The waitress came back and said that the manager said "that's the way a ribeye is supposed to be, that's what gives it its taste". I said I've eaten a hundred ribeyes and never had one that looked like that, and a cut like that should not even be served. She shrugged and walked away. We paid and left. I rarely complain about my food (less than ten times in my life), and never write reviews (this is my first), so when I got your email I promised myself I this would be the first.

Too noisy for conversation. I was there for brunch. No bread or rolls were offered or brought to the table. I didn't want potatoes and asked for extra salad. The waiter said no problem, but extra salad wasn't given. Repeatedly had to flag down a waiter to take our order and get coffee refills. The food was fine but would have preferred a restaurant without the multiples tv's blasting in addition to overly loud music.
