Small plates are small for the price but good overall. The Parker house rolls were not quite what I expected. The short rib was the best dish we've had in NYC so far in this trip. So good!!! The waitress was attentive until time for the check. We had to wait a long time and finally had to flag her down. It is a really good restaurant. We enjoyed the food and experience overall but improvements could be made.
Can’t beat the awesome-some of the food!
The staff was great and so was the food.
Everything was fabulous! Alex is our favorite from the Food Network and eating at Butter only confirmed why we like her so much. The food was excellent but the service was superb. It was a great experience and we will be back!
Very pleasant experience. The food and service were excellent. The restaurant is lovely but not stuffy. Our meal was relaxed and well paced. We had the rolls, roast duck and short ribs plus we shared the smashed potatoes. I would recommend all. Great place for a pre-show dinner.
Great food and beautiful location. Perfect for date night or a fancy family dinner.
I have been wanting to go here for years. Finally got there and it was EVERYTHING I wanted it to be. Food was great service outstanding. Only issue was we had a wheelchair with us and while they were accommodating they definitely forgot about wheelchairs when it was designed. Slowed us down a bit but we’d go back in a New York minute
Best food and service we've had so far on our trip!
This place desperately needs a restyling for both food and vibe/decor. The service was meh at best. Same for food.
The food, service, and atmosphere were outstanding. Highly recommend
Really need to up your game on small plates. Really is much to share as an appetizer with cocktails
This was one of the best culinary experiences we've ever had. I have been planning and waiting to check out Butter for forever, and I was NOT disappointed. The drinks were incredible, and the staff.... well the staff was the most friendly, knowledgeable, responsive, and professional staff that I've ever seen throughout an entire restaurant. They really made the experience. They were basically the right amount of helpful, funny, and kind while not even feeling like they were on top of us.
Ok, I know I said all that ^^ but the FOOD. Well, the food was out of this world. Go to Butter and treat yourself. Your tastebuds will thank you. We had seafood risotto and the cloud cauliflower. We also got every single side (why not?), and several smaller plates for our larger group. The mac and cheese was to die for, the brussels sprouts... wow. And I even ate broccolini! I don't usually like it but I wanted to try everything.
We also got one of each dessert to enjoy back at the hotel since we need to walk off some of it. AMAZING. Beignets were my personal fave.
My favorite drink was the Bitter Sling. If you like whiskey, and a smokey vibe/flavor you cannot go wrong.
A rarity in the theater district. Amazing restaurant.
Amazingly delicious food though slightly expensive.
This is THE best restaurant I have ever been to, EVER.
Dinner at Butter was perfect! Service, food and setting. Bonus we got to spot a celebrity while we were there.
My wife and I were celebrating our birthdays in NYC. The food was expertly prepared and beautifully presented, exceeding our expectations from Iron Chef, Alex! The service was timely, unrushed but responsive, and the atmosphere were fantastic! Really enjoyed the music play list too, but it was harder to hear once the restaurant filled up. Highly recommend!
My mom and I traveled from California to New York for a special mother/daughter trip. I am a huge fan of chef Alex and making a reservation to visit Butter was one of the first things I did. The food was excellent and we had a wonderful time.
The food was amazing. Interesting combinations. Enough food that you were full but not stuffed. We had the Branzino and Boneless Beef Shank. Cooked perfectly
Fantastic meal with out of town family. Food and service were absolutely perfect!
The Caprese salad was very underwhelming. There was no basil with it, the tomatoes did not look as if they were heirloom tomatoes, just normal ones, and it was sitting in a puddle of water, making it difficult to get a good bite of the burrata as it turned into slop as I pulled it apart. The salmon was okay but close to room temperature when served. My mom had to wait 10 minutes for cutlery to eat her meal. I was very excited to try this restaurant and it was pretty disappointing. I ended up spending 120 CA. I wish I had went somewhere else. Sorry.
Our Party of 4 fined at BUTTER on 11/9/21.
Ambiance was refined and yet very comfortable.
We began with Pre-dinner drinks; the craft-cocktails were delicious and very well made.
We also shared the veal bacon, gnocchi Mac & cheese plus the Chef’s special Parker House rolls.
Alex Guarnaschelli’s menu is varied and was well executed by her staff.
All four of us ordered the short ribs which were delicious.
The sole reason that the entire experience did not generate
5 Stars is due to the short ribs not being HOT when arriving at table. However, they were warm enough to be enjoyed
Just before our desserts-to-share arrived, the staff
delivered a flute of bubbly to each of us so that we could toast to our 32nd wedding anniversary. Delicious, and the
perfect way to wrap up a lovely evening.
All things considered, we certainly will dine again at BUTTER!
Excellent service and food.
Great experience! Service was on point allowing time for drinks then order and check when ready! Food was delicious. Will return!
Butter was fabulous! The food was excellent and we enjoyed the atmosphere. We will definitely go back.
Great ambiance- food and service were top notch. Would definitely recommend to anyone, especially as a pre theater restaurant
We really enjoyed Butter! The salmon was cooked perfectly, and the homemade beignets were terrific. The ambiance is great for a date night
From the service to the food, we were impressed. We especially loved the duck and porkchop which were both executed so well. We will definitely come back. They also have the best dinner rolls.
Overall excellent experience. The staff was very helpful and attentive and the food was delicious.
It was everything I expected. Friendly and attentive service. Outstanding.
Everything on the menu is incredible. You literally cannot go wrong here.
Disappointed, especially since I highly recommended it to two friends after a spectacular first visit a year or so ago. A salmon requested well done arrived rare, smashed potatoes side order were whole baked midsize and small spuds. Halibut and second customer’s salmon were wonderful. Charge for bread? Really? $8 for a bottle of still water. Really? Not a terrible experience but expected so much more.
Had a great time at Butter, the food was delicious and our waitress was very friendly!!!
We had a great meal. The portions were generous and everything was so good. I would suggest if you are trying to make a 8pm Broadway show make a 5pm reservation. We did 5:30pm and we were rushed at the end.
Will definitely be back.
The food was outstanding and we loved the ambiance! The cocktails were amazing!!
Our server started out great, but we think she may have been overwhelmed with tables, not sure if they are understaffed. We had a show to get to which she knew from the beginning at 5:00pm and we still had to ask for the check 20 minutes before the start of the 8:00pm show.
We will definitely be back!!
We came to NYC on a vacation and I wanted to go to Alex's rest as I follow her in the food network. The welcoming reception area was very beautiful. The restaurant area was fabulous and it played soft fun music. We sat down in a corner booth so it was great to see the entire restaurant in action. We ordered the bread ( of course ) and I was a little disappointed that we didn't get the explanation of the different butter's served. we had to ask our server. I feel if the restaurant is called Butter and you serve multiple kinds of butter then we should at least be told about them. I had a great wine by the glass and we ordered the pork chops with the brussels sprouts salad and green beans. Everything had great flavor but unfortunately our pork was a bit overcooked and dry. Staff was friendly. Wish we could have seen the outside area but it was a bit cold. I expected the execution of the food to be perfect because it's ALEX. But overall GOOD!!!
congratulation's Alex on a beautiful restaurant
Butter completely blew away any expectations I had. The food, ambiance, and service were all incredible. Our waiter was attentive and able to answer questions about the menu. The food was some of the best I’ve had in NYC. I would order any of our dishes again. Will definitely be back to Butter for another meal!
