Food was Ah-mazing! The gnocchi Mac and cheese was delicious as well as the pasta with lamb sausage. Our waiter was really nice just very busy. He might have had too many tables in his section. He still did a decent job despite being stretched thin. We had a reservation at 9 & got seated immediately. But I think if we had an earlier reservation the service would have been a tad different. I’d still love to go back earlier in the evening to try the tomahawk steak and dessert. Thanks for having us!
Food good. A little pricey. Would have been nice if they had the food on the buffet when we went up at 11:15 with a 11:00 reservation. Not exactly friendly wait staff but not rude.
Everything about the experience was fantastic. The food, the service, everything!!! Our first visit there. Won’t be the last
Pricey, but the food was very worth it. Our waiter was great and the restaurant had a great atmosphere!
Very impressed with both food quality as well as service. Highly recommend.
Incredible food and atmosphere, would highly recommend for any special occasion!
Food was amazing, I had the Risotto Special with Crab and Bay Scallops. My wife had the New York Strip, we will definitely go back!!
Second time at trying this out. Chef Alex is great on TV and social media, however, service and food were sub-par and it was disappointing.
Fantastic dinner! Dining at Butter was a highlight - service was beyond fantastic, food as well, drinks amazing.
Food delicious but a little salty
Went here after following the chef and the restaurant on instagram for months. It definitely didn’t disappoint! The steak was one of the best I’ve ever had, and the raspberry beignets with vanilla bean dipping sauce were decadent and a perfect dessert to end the meal. I am usually disappointed when I hold a place to such high standards, but the ambience, decor and overall charm of Butter truly went about my expectations.
I really enjoyed my experience at Butter. To begin with the restaurant setting is beautiful. It creates a cozy atmosphere for groups. The booths are nice and large so they can definitely fit a group of 6-8 comfortably. I went for the brunch before attending a play. The location of Butter made it convenient to go to before heading to our show. I also liked the brunch spread. My favorite items were the Gnocchi Mac and Cheese (like eating little clouds) and the cured salmon. I intend on returning to Butter to try their lunch or dinner one day, hopefully soon!
Beautiful dining room, but food was a notch below excellent - halibut was dry and salty, beet salad was ordinary, oysters good but not stellar.
My best friend and I had a wonderful time at Butter Midtown. The staff was friendly and we were seated right away. We ordered the purple paradise cocktail and the gnocchi mac and cheese to start. The mac and cheese will change your life. Seriously, you need to try it. For our entree we had that evening’s special, braised beef short rib ragu with mozzarella mashed potatoes which was also very yummy. What tipped our experience from very good to outstanding was the servers thoughtfulness. When dessert arrived he had placed a candle on the plate and brought champagne, on the house, to help us celebrate our birthdays. Oh, and the raspberry beignets with vanilla dipping sauce are not to be missed.
Amazing! Took my best friend for his 40th birthday and we both loved the service and the food! His birthday was acknowledged by the waitstaff quietly as he does not like a big to-do.
Our overall experience was very nice. Food was awesome, service was very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time celebrating our daughter’s Sweet 16 there!!
Delicious NY Strip Steak and raspberry beignets for dessert. Amazing.
Came for our anniversary in NYC, and because I’m a huge Alex fan. The food did not disappoint, and they treated us to Prosecco for our anniversary. You’re always the best, Alex!!!
While in NYC for a fun trip with my adult sons, we dined at Butter for dinner. Everything we ate was delicious. The beignets for dessert were heavenly.
The wine soaked portobellos and key lime pie were absolutely delicious!
One of the best dining experiences of my life! An Iron chef restaurant is expected to be good but this one is INSANELY GOOD! Best NY strip I've ever had and the halibut dish with geechie grits is to die for!
I flew from South Carolina to New York to mark this restaurant off my bucket list, and it was worth every mile. I can't wait to come back.
Had been wanting to go to Butter since I booked my flight to New York City. Reservations were quite easy to make. My 13 y/o felt out of place (no young people there). I had the salmon and it was delicious. The beignets I've seen posted on Instagram and I knew I had to try them...I died and went to heaven! Fluffy and warm with the right amount of sugar and filling inside! The vanilla cream you get to dip it in was a dream. I even got some to go back to the hotel with! It was amazing.
Absolutely amazing. The gnocchi Mac and cheese was seriously the best thing I’ve ever eaten!
PROS: The food was COMPLETELY AMAZING. Fantastic flavors and beautiful presentation. My friend ordered a mixed drink and said it was the best one she had ever had. The ambiance was cool and modern but cozy. CONS: You pay for what you get... so be prepared for high prices. (a $44 pork chop... Ouch.) The air conditioning was annoyingly blowing directly on us, and one person was very cold through the meal. We asked the staff about it but they were unable to fix the situation. The noise level made conversation difficult without raised voices.
I have been to Butter countless times over the last several years. This past experience was awful. The service was poor and the food was terrible. An absolute waste of money. I am so disappointed after so many positive experiences at Butter. I am not certain what has been done to the food, service personnel or management but please fix it. I can't believe I had to pay for such awful food and service.
Interesting menu the squash was delicious salad interesting good place for lunch
I was so excited to be going to NYC and be able to try Butter-Midtown. I love Alex Guarnaschelli on the food network and she did not disappoint. From appetizers to dessert, each course was better than the next. Thank you chef!
visiting nyc, my wife really wanted to eat here. service was top notch. food was a 5, of course $$, but well worth it. it is a dinner we will remember.
Great experience all the way around. The veal bacon was delicious and we loved the slight tanginess to the sauce. The grits and peppers with the Halibut just made the fish an excellent choice.
I got scallops, just warm. Could have warmer. Husband had pork chop. Excellent , BUT no starch no veg. Just a nice pork chop in the middle of a big plate!
I had been looking forward to trying Alex’s restaurant given her accolades on the food network. Unfortunately I have to agree with many other reviews in that it was good, but nothing memorable. The service was fair but we were never told about any specials and I believe there were some as I overheard another table being told about one after we had our mains. We had the civatappi pasta and octopus appetizers which were both quite good and better than our main courses. For our mains we ordered the lamb schnitzel and the chicken - both were just Ok. I will say that the portion sizes are very large so you do not leave hungry whatsoever. I do think it is overpriced though, despite the large portions. Overall a little bit disappointed and I won’t be going back.
Great food and great service!
I loved everything about Butter! My friends and I split a few apps, salads, and hot plates. Everything was delicious. Can’t wait to go back!
We enjoyed our meal. The gnocchi Mac & cheese was fab! The Brussel Sprout salad was excellent!
The food is exceptional. The noise level is also extraordinary high.
Outstanding ambiance, fantastic service and overall wonderful place.
Good. Would teturn
Gnocchi mac & cheese was incredible, don't leave here without at least one for the table! Very reasonable options for bottles of wine. Had a great meal overall!
The appetizer of thick-cut veal bacon (a new one on me, but veal belly, actually) was sensationally good. But the burger was standard fare only, and the accompanying fries room temp. Dessert of key lime pie was also sensational, though unconscionably tiny for the price. My drink of a perported mix of tequila and mezcal was delicious, but contained very little alcohol.
We had a booth that was both private and comfortable. One warning: the lunch menu is small, quite limited.
