Lunch: Monday - Friday: 11:30am - 2:30pm
Dinner: Monday - Saturday: 5:00pm - 10:00pm, Sunday: 5:00pm - 8:00pm
The brunch buffet was excellent, but I couldn't believe that it was not even ready ~20 minutes after opening (and some additional dishes were put out after we first went through the buffet). Our reservation was for 11:15 and when we arrived, people were waiting to be seated (restaurant opened at 11, but no on was seated yet). They eventually started seating parties after we waited ~10 minutes, but I found it very unprofessional that their buffet wasn't ready on time.
I liked the unique choices alongside standards, and most of the dishes were delicious.
The food was amazing, but I believe the A/C was broken so it did get a bit warm in there near the end of our meal. Service was good and the atmosphere was lovely.
Food was terrible and tasteless
Booked a table for dinner after a matinee Broadway show at the Gershwin Theater - service was excellent and accommodating. Dinner was amazing - I would highly recommend the Gnocchi Mac and Cheese for an app and the Butters Pan Seared Chicken breast was definitely the unanimous favorite at the table. Dinner was perfect and we would definitely go again.
Very excited to have gone to Butter and it was a great experience. I don't know why it bothers me, but the waiter never introduced himself. The veal bacon was fantastic. We did a pasta course with the all amatriciana and thought the pasta really needed 30 more seconds to give it a silky feel. And I didn't get the guanciale at all. My main course was the halibut, which was beautiful and delicious but it really needed some salt. My son had the duck leg confit and it was out of this world, so good job there. I would go again but I'm sorry I was missing some salt. The piece I took home was so much better after a small hit of kosher salt
Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I anticipated a extraordinary culinary experience. Unfortunately, the experience was more ordinary. We had what was recommended and were still underwhelmed. I can’t imagine that our meals accurately represented Alex Guarneschelli’s immense expertise. I thought they would.
Came here for Restaurant Week last night. Very disappointing meal and experience. If not for watching the owner/chef on Chopped, Beat Bobby Fly, etc. all these years I would never have come in the first place. The restaurant was warm and had an oscillating fan cooling the area. Really? The Restaurant Week menu was a tasting menu. Mini portions and nothing to rave about. Even my salad of olives, cucs and tomatoes was the size of a scoop of ice cream. My husband's ham croquettes tasted like tater tots. My portion of bass was about 3 oz, same for my husband's short ribs. With a glass of wine the bill was just under $150. For that amount I could have eaten at Ocean Prime or Strip House. I think most times Restuarant Week lures you in but the meal served is less than amazing. Won't be returning.
Great food and drinks. We will definitely go back.
Food was amazing, service was great. This was my wife’s first choice on this trip to NYC. Did not disappoint.
Very disappointing. The amateurish service was unforgivable given the price point.
Absolutely wonderful everything was delicious! Hands down one of my favorites-in NY!
Wow, where do I start. It was a sure pleasure from start to finish. Staff was polite and attentive to our needs. The food was absolutely amazing from appetizers to dessert. Way to go Chef Alex and Team!
I am such a fan of Alex but the short ribs were very fatty and cut in half that there was little mean on any of the bone. No vegetables were provided. It was more like a tapas once the fat was removed.
There was no air conditioning in the restaurant which i would have liked to know when we arrived. We sat at the bar for a drink but the heat was unbearable at the table. There was no accommodation or consideration made for heat. No complimentary sparkling water, or drink was provided which should have been done.
We expected a little more from an iron chef restaurant. The fish and the dessert were dry. Quality food, yes. Quality delivery, no.
The service was pleasant.
This was an underwhelming food experience. I was forewarned by a friend who had visited last week, but I had high expectations. The service was wonderful as was the decor of the restaurant but in addition I would have expected a much better plate of food. The temperature in New York is 100 degrees, as I watched my husband perspire and the patrons beside me fan I realized it was approaching an uncomfortable temperature in the restuarant as well.... Our server indicated there was a problem with the air conditioner and they were addressing it but it never became comfortable during my visit. The presentation of the food was cute and picture ready but the quantity was petite at best. The portions of the meal were by no means satisfying even on a diet. I had the the short ribs that resembles a thin cut pork chop with greens that had as many stems as it had leaves
My husband had the sea bass which was just okay. The taste of the meal was not what I would have expected. Overall with the price of the meal this experience should have been much better. I have paid less for much better.
I was disappointed because I went in with higher expectations than I experienced.
The AC was either off or not working and it was 95 degrees. When asking staff about the air, there was zero acknowledgement of the issue. My dinner guests sweated profusely throughout dinner - and it took nearly 90 minutes to be served dinner for 4 people. I will never be coming back to restaurant.
The food was good but the ambiance was not consistent with the Open Table review. It felt very masculine and was loud — not at all cozy. The night we were there, the air conditioner was not working (the temp was 90 during the day). The service was through, but I wouldn’t put this restaurant on my list again.
Food was amazing as was the entire experience. I am a huge fan of ICAG and this restaurant did not disappoint. Short ribs, Gnocchi Mac and Cheese were delicious as well as my torte I had for dessert. Cocktails were very refreshing too.
This restaurant has an unreasonable restaurant gift card policy. Our children bought us a $150 gift card to cover dinner for my wife and me on our 46th wedding anniversary. Our bill came to roughly $136 dollars. We then found out that the remaining unused gift card balance could not be used to partially offset the tip amount (this policy was written on the gift card). In our experience of using restaurant gift cards, we've only encountered this problem one other time. In fact, restaurants that we've been to that do allow this application range from low end (Outback Steakhouse) to high end (Restaurant NIcholas in Red Bank, NJ). However, the worst was yet to come. We agreed to leave the tip in cash, thinking we would at least be getting back the approximately $14 left on the gift card for future use. Such was not the case: we were then informed that unless the unused amount was at least $50, no credit would be given to us, something that had never happened to us at any other restaurant when we used a gift card. It also seemed like a policy that was made up "on the fly" and smacked of greediness on the part of the Butter. What exactly are they saying to us and our children: give us your $150 in your hard-earned cash and, in exchange we'll give you no value for $14 of it? Triple P in my opinion (P___ Poor Policy). Thank you for ruining our Wedding Anniversary celebration, Restaurant Butter. We'll never be back.
Room was warm but food was delicious. Good value for the restaurant week menu.
Went to Alex Guarnaschelli’s place and had a great meal. The food is very authentic like her style. Had the cauliflower dish which was amazing and my son had her gnocchi Mac and cheese. Very pleased with our meal and loved the overall experience. Definitely would recommend.
Delicious food and nice atmosphere and a special shout out to our outstanding server, Jacqui.
Disappointed. Everything needed salt except the desert. Big fan of Chef Alex but this was a let down. Korean BBQ tough as nails.
Everything was perfect from beginning to end. Desserts were best ever
Interesting cool decor, went because my daughter loves Gossip Girl but we liked that it’s a restaurant by a celebrity chef. Very friendly service but unfortunately a bit forgetful as they forgot my beer and my wife’s side of broccoli until we reminded them.
Amazing food. It is pricey, but the ambiance, food, and service are all worth it. There is a different menu for lunch and dinner. On the dinner menu, the NY strip steak, chicken breast, and cavatappi pasta were delicious. The flour less chocolate hazelnut torte is highly recommended for a chocolate lover. The raspberry beignets were like a jelly donut but so much better. Definitely recommend this place for a special occasion or intimate date. There is space to accommodate a big group.
Mother daughter trip to nyc
The food was some of the best food that we have had in NYC...the quality and preparation was “exceptional”....perfection!!!
I knew I had to make Alex's restaurant one of my destinations while I was in New York, and it blew any expectations I had out of the water. The food was absolutely delicious, and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of vegetarian options on the menu. I loved that the cloud cauliflower was topped with even more cauliflower, and the gnocchi mac n cheese is what dreams are made of. Finishing the meal with any of the dessert options is the perfect way to end a dining experience here. A definite must anytime in NY!
The food and atmosphere was wonderful and our server was completely amazing and made the experience even better! Highly recommend and I will definitely be back!
Food was fantastic. And the service was excellent. One of my favourites in New York.
My second time at Butter and it still hasn't disappointed me. The service was on point and of course food was beyond perfection. Reccomend going again but i hope to meet Alex there 😁
Food was small, pasta was undercooked (not even close to al dente), overall unimpressed. Left hungry - very glad it was only restaurant week prices.
Although the food was good, the entree was rather small. Also, the overall experience was ruined by the weak air conditioning and lack of ice cubes in the water. I will give it another chance when the weather is cooler.
Visiting from out of town during NY restaurant week. Butter did not disappoint. High quality ingredients, fresh produce, great flavor combinations and perfect preparation. The Mac and Cheese Gnocci is a must as well as the raspberry beignets. Our server was sweet and attentive, but the bar really slowed her down. Overall a wonderful experience and would highly recommend
Food wasn’t as good as the other times I have visited. I was disappointed. The fish tacos were sub par.
Air condition was broken. Too hot to really enjoy. :(
Hands down one of the best restaurants I've been to, and we eat out alot! My daughter (12 years old) and I were in New York and my husband was adamant that we go to Butter as he loves Chef Alex (both him and my daughter watch Chopped, Beat Bobby Flay, etc). So I made reservations (highly recommend) and was so pleasantly surprised. You walk downstairs from the street level and it is a nice open concept with lots of booths, so very comfortable. Our server (Jacqui) was just amazing. It happened to be restaurant week, which we didn't know so she asked if we were there for restaurant week or the Chef... we proceeded to say the Chef. At which point she enthusiastically went over the Chef's specialties and really explained the menu. She helped my daughter make selections as she is a bit of a picky eater, but loves meat - just very accommodating working with a child. We both tried the two appetizers she recommended - a Gnocchi Mac & Cheese (to die for) and an Lamb (or Veal) Sausage with a Spicy Sauce. This was so good and was such a huge serving that I we couldn't finish it in the hopes of having entrees following.... was too bad we were at a hotel and couldn't take back as it wouldn't be good cold. Entrees were huge portions as well (Jacqui said that they don't want their customers going home hungry and they won't). I had the pork chop and my daughter inhaled her steak. We were so full but had to try the Beignets, again a specialty - the plate went back empty. The service was great - Jacqui was great and the bus boy was outstanding as well, very attentive but didn't rush us. Jacqui even gave my daughter a picture of Chef Alex that was signed. Fantastic restaurant, fantastic service. A must when in New York.
Butter Midtown was an excellent choice for my boss' business dinner. They went during restaurant week and were able to enjoy the tasting menu presented. The food was excellent, the service impeccable, and the atmosphere was ideal. Will reserve them a table here again, and would recommend to others for business dinners.
Sometimes it’s the small barely noticeable gestures that make an experience memorable...and while I’d wished it was for a good reason, Butter left a bitter taste - the lackluster wait staff that didn’t seem to care that the ribs were undercooked and the fish inedible was enough to not make one want to return but the criticism that we didn’t know what fish should taste like was adding injury to insult. While the manager, after having been requested came over and comped drinks I still felt really disappointed in the experience, especially as it was my birthday.
