I’ve been to Butter a midtown many times over the years. First time since covid. Pork chop is always fantastic. So glad I went with that over their $50 strip steak that others at my table ordered. I have a level of expectation when ordering steak at a nice restaurant that this completely missed. The most recent steak picture on their IG is far from the one you’ll be receiving. Limited cocktail menu and the starters were just meh. I’d like to give Butter the benefit of the doubt that this is just part of impact covid has had on NY restaurants. Unfortunately for a $500+ bill it missed the mark.
You can’t go work with ANYTHING!
Veal bacon was delicious ...
Great salmon and Ny strip was amazing
We had a lovely eventing at Butter. Made our trip to NY Very special! Food was delicious
Was one of the better dinners we have had. The rolls with chive butter were melt in your mouth. Hands down the best grilled octopus we have ever eaten. We ordered the steak for two and it delicious and large! Husband had desert which were three doughnuts stuffed with fruit filling and a vanilla dipping sauce. He said it was amazing. We walked out of dinner with smiles on. Not cheap but worth every dollar.
I really enjoy this place. The pork chop, a specialty, was extra good this time! A great spot just a block from Times Square.
Wonderful food. But an extremely limited menu.
We enjoyed the Prix Fix lunch. The food was fabulous, especially the butternut squash soup.
Butter was a pre-determined destination on our trip to New York City this past weekend and it exceeded our high expectations. Our server was incredible to interact with and we felt as though she really cared to navigate us around the menu and gave us all the time we needed as a group of five ladies. Dish highlights included: White cloud cauliflower, mac n' cheese gnocchi and tobacco smoked pork chops! If you are an oyster fan, I highly recommend them; the accompanying sauces were all exquisitely paired.
We were super excited for the brunch buffet at butter, but were pretty disappointed. Some of the options (steak and gnocchi mac and cheese) were great, but overall we were unimpressed. Really cool spot, but just not feeling it.
Food was fantastic. Gnocchi Mac and Cheese, Brussels Sprouts salad and sirloin with truffle butter were to die for. Had one issue with one of our mains (sent out wrong dish) but it was fixed quickly with a flute of champagne and the dish taken off the bill. Our server was fun and casual but smart and professional. Cocktails were tasty and atmosphere was comfortable. Thanks Chef Alex!
Great staff, very knowledgeable. Beignets and nightly specials are a must
Our experience dining at Butter was outstanding. We enjoyed all the food and the service was very attentive.
We spent the weekend in NYC, we read reviews on Butter and they were all outstanding. We decided on try the restaurant, and we not disappointed. The food and service was outstanding and we would highly recommend Butter
Amazing food and service! Always try to visit when we’re in midtown!
Highly recommend if you are looking for a nice dinner out in the city! The staff treated us extremely well, the food and drink selections are amazing, and the atmosphere allowed for a perfect setting to catch up with a friend. I'm a big fan of Alex Guarnaschelli and the menu definitely didn't disappoint. From the appetizers to the dessert everything tasted so good! Sure, the prices are a little high, but it's NYC and this restaurant is worth every penny spent.
We went for my daughter’s 21st Birthday. I mentioned this in the online reservation so the waiter mentioned it as he greeted our table. This gesture brought a huge smile to my daughter’s face! Thank you, Butter for helping me celebrate my baby girl on her special day!
We had a 7:00 show and a 6:00 reservation so I was worried we were going to have to cancel but they were able to seat us and serve us with plenty of time. Luckily it was a Tuesday night, I wouldn't recommend it when they are very busy. The location is super convenient right in Midtown and on the same block as our theater. Anyway, the salad and gnocchi mac & cheese were absolutely delicious, and my husband ordered the spaghetti starter with caviar which was rich and tasty. He also had the cauliflower steak and that was really good as well. And as we walked out of the restaurant we saw Alex Guarnaschelli and got to meet her. She was very friendly and spoke highly of her staff which I really thought was nice. We will be going back to try some more of the menu items.
Monday night birthday dinner so for season restaurant was quiet. Food was pretty good. Didn’t care for the sides...broccoli was just steamed with balsamic vinegar and sea salt potatoes were steak fries with a brown gravy. Atmosphere and service was nice.
The food here is good and our waitress was terrific but they messed up our order and served another table our food and when we asked to speak to the manager -- when he came over instead of apologizing all he said was "mistakes happen." The manager was terrible and we felt badly for our waitress and with that attitude in management not sure we will be back.
Went to Butter for Sunday brunch. Was surprised that they only had a buffet option. Last time I had brunch there, there were a la carte options. The options went from breakfast food to skirt steak. Somebody watched over the food and replaced as soon as hot plates were low. There were scones and croissants but only mini cupcakes and fruit for dessert. We had to ask for coffee which is not included in the $40 price. Not a bad price for all food provided. Dirty plates were not removed and coffee should have been served without our asking. Place was nearly empty. Service Should have been better.
Excellent food with the freshest ingredients. The variety was extensive.
Noise from heating system I think when we got there
App and fish were delicious
Tasted Someone’s fries and they were awesome
Sundae was not great. Too sweet.
Expensive but worth every penny!
Butter Midtown is a fantastic restaurant. There are various menu, and service is great. I really want to visit again :)
Dinner before or after a show? Try this - especially if you are a lover of pork. The pork chop (their specialty) was the best I've ever had. Gnocchi mac and cheese was a great comfort food starter. Our wait staff was pleasant and helpful. I'll be back.
Great place for a business lunch. Service is good, unique entrees, great ambiance and booth seating.
Friendly staff, slightly inexperienced.
Very cool looking restaurant with nice layout and design, food was generally excellent. Short ribs and beignets wowed, fish dishes were tasty and well presented but did not stand out. Good wine list and suggestion from waiter. Overall a very good experience but slightly overpriced for the simplicity of the dishes.
All very good-didn't like paying $23 dollars for a salad (it was great) and not having enough time to finish it before our entrees came. Our server was great and we came at 5:15 so there was no reason our food came out so fast unless the kitchen was bored. Great rolls, short rib was delicious too. Cauliflower very good-price on that was aggressive.
Beautiful setting. Not many diners at lunch on a Mon. But lovely and quiet.
The price fixed lunch was a good deal and very delicious.
Great variety in the breakfast buffet. I was so pleased to see so many non-breakfast choices. But the breakfast items were also there. And it was delicious.
The service sucks but the food is good.
Disappointing experience. We had high hopes for an amazing dinner, but it was all quite mediocre.
Everything about Butter was excellent--the food, service, and ambiance. Prices were about what to expect for upscale NYC, so really not much to complain about there. We had the veal bacon and cavatappi pasta with lamb sausage to start, and cant sing enough praises for both. For entrees we had the lobster risotto special and pan roasted branzino. Everything was extremely flavorful and we left stuffed. Alex, please never stop serving the Raspberry Beignets, they were mindblowing. We got to enjoy each course without being rushed in the slightest, even on a packed Saturday night, and really got to enjoy each course to its fullest.
A little difficult to find but what a gem! Food was delicious and entrees could easily be shared. Crunchy Brussel sprouts salad is a must! Wait staff are delightful and very accommodating! Great dinner in NYC and would definitely recommend and return!
Outstanding service by all the entire staff and especially our server! Felt relaxed and enjoyed a night out but the staff made it memorable!!
The food was amazing and the service was top notch!
Cozy setting, attentive service, fabulous food! Raspberry beignets for dessert are a must!
Birthday celebration. Wait staff was very pleasant and attentive without being overly bearing
This place was Awesome! Really cool set up and layout. Food was phenomenal.
