Back to work menu was very good value. Will go again..
The food is really good and the position is amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful. I am a meat eater and they make a very good steak. My family enjoyed the Sunday Roast.
We were a group of four. COVID restrictions were in place with PPE and social distancing. Great service. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The roasted mushroom tartare was immense and I managed to get this as part of the a la carte menu instead of the set menu. My companions all enjoyed their meals and the cocktails and wine were delicious. All in all a lovely evening riverside.
- Given option to sit outside or inside.
- Outstanding service. I think her name was Dani or Jenny but I might be really far off 🤦
- We had: - Sweet chilli squid and rosemary sourdough, half lobster and lamb shank and both had sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Starter was good. Main and dessert were great.
- Lovely view of Tower Bridge
- Felt safe and as though precautions were being taken
Disappointed as earlier in the year this restaurant was dependable but twice in last month it's been rusty and haphazard cooking and service.
The setting is what makes this restaurant. Food good steakhouse standards. Feels strange that the £17 fish comes with chips. But the £35 steak requires an extra purchase....
Went there on Saturday for my birthday
What a spectacular view we had sitting outside looking onto the river and sight of Tower bridge incredible
The service was very good but have to say on talking to my friends afterwards we were all let down by the food two of our party had steaks which were over done one couple had the chateaubriand which was enough for one person really but as it was my birthday my friends did not want to make a fuss
But what the bill came too and seeing we had no alcohol apart from one drink the bill was way over the top
Would I recommend the place to others for the site yes but on the food and value for money no
Wonderful location with a nice terrace overlooking Tower Bridge. Only two things topped the and they were food and service.
We went for dinner he fixed price menu which was extremely good value.
A great way to pass a summer Saturday afternoon.
The biggest selling point of the restaurant is the amazing view of Tower Bridge. Some staff were friendly and others with little emotion, so odd at times.
Observation whilst at the restaurant, it's a first date hot spot with 5 tables near me on obvious first dates. Overall, good but not excellent
Very good meal but limited choice on the menu as a lot of dishes were finished.
Service was diabolical. We spent our entire evening chasing staff to take our order. Not the kind of service you expect for the menu prices.
Great to be back. Relaxed, great food and service.
Food and service was great! The eat out to help out menu is great value. They are really trying to make you feel safe as well with Perspex between the tables, temperature checks and full face covers on the staff.
We had the very best experience, it was my birthday and the staff who look after us Joanna was amazing, friendly and very attentive. Made my birthday very special
We went for a friends birthday! Ordered a bottle of champagne and it was warm the waiter even confirmed it had not been chilled. The birthday girls steak was over cooked and it took over 20minutes to replace by which point the accompanying veg and my food were cold. As always the view was fantastic but the service on this occasion was left a little wanting as it was a treat lunch for a 30th!
The service is always brilliant at the chop house. We have had two lovely evenings there recently - everything is very safe with the Covid precautions they are taking (temperature checks etc).
Lovely Sunday roast next to the river. Very friendly staff.
Great meal with a great view, service was good.
Generally very good, but let down by the poor flavour of the steak. And at over £200 for 3 people (ex drinks) - just not good enough.
Obviously a busy day not alot of food left on menu which was terrible as it was first day open after 3 months , took 20 minutes to be served and when we did not a menu given . But after all that the food was lovely, shame the service from the restaurant not the waiter was soooo long .
Excellent as usual - great to see it open again. Sensible precautions taken with temperature check on arrival 👍
It was the first day reopening and so great effort. Some of the menu items were sold out and unfortunately my party was seated in the bar rather than outside or in the main dining room which was more pleasant. My steak was good and my friend enjoyed the chicken and mushroom pie. I have sat outside here in the past and the view adds a lot to the experience.
Short of staffs and we had to request for almost everything.
Wonderful view of tower bridge from our outside table. Welcoming and friendly staff. Good food. Plenty of wine. Lovely experience.
Excellent meal, service and location. Felt so comfortable and relaxed. Well done to the team for adapting so well.
I understand it’s hard to start back up after the lockdown period and I was willing to let a 1 and half hour wait just to get my starter slide ! Then my fillet steak came I asked for it to be medium rare but it was well done ! Service was very slow although I forgive that considering the circumstances! Staff were very friendly though and they took off two glasses of wine for the late starters ! Overall lovely location nice staff but the steak was dry and tasteless I’m quite disappointed.
I have been to the Chop House on several occasions and have had a great experience both with the food and service, unfortunately on this occasion it was very poor, they forgot our starters and brought the mains, I then said could we have our starters 1st which then came up slow again, once we had finished the starters, the same main was presented, it wasn’t a fresh main, it had been sitting on the hot plates for 20 minutes... this then made the beef and chicken roast very dry and potatoes so hard that you couldn’t put your fork into them... with regards to the service I think the waiter may have been new... was very forgetful and not very concerned about our overall experience.. with the current market conditions it wasn’t very busy in the restaurant and makes it hard to understand why the service lacked the normal service and expectations of the Chop House.
Too cold and noisy. Use of truffle is excessive ...
The food and service is always very good. The location is unbeatable. Will definitely come again (and again).
Food was nice but didn't rate the roast very much, staff were lovely and friendly would go back but won t have the roast again
Terrible slow service, steak cooked on only one side
Food drinks was very slow .. Had to wait 35mins for dessert spoke to manager he wasn’t bothered at all took dessert off bill ...
I’ve have been chop house many times b4 and it’s got worse not happy like normal don’t no what happened there!
We really enjoyed ourselves
I booked this restaurant for my partner and I for Valentines evening. When we arrived , our table was not ready and we were asked to get a drink at the bar which was fine. However it took over FIVE minutes until we got served. After finally being seated we were given a menu which we questioned as when we booked this table there was no mention that on this day ONLY there would be a set menu. Once of the reasons I booked this was because of the varied menu that I knew we would both enjoy. But we both disliked all three things on the starter menu , the main course was ok ( steak ) but dessert my partner did not like one bit. When the waiter cleared our dessert plates he could see my partners had not been touched but did not ask any questions about this and just took the plates away. Very disappointed with the whole evening experience and would not recommend. If you do book it make sure there is not a set menu otherwise your go home very hungry like we did last night !!!!!!
Fixed menu for Valentines night. Would have preferred the a’la Carte nenu
Waited 15 mins for table but had a drink at the bar. Ed the barman very friendly. Unfortunately the only good service all night. Food was good but were never asked if everything was ok. Medium rare steak was blue but by the time we could get anyone’s attention it was too late to ask for a bit more cooking. Disappointing that I’m a half full restaurant a bit more care and attention was not given. Good food but will not return
Unfortunately we had to wait a while for our food and our table was late... had a great waiter who apologised profusely but was such a shame, spoilt the experience slightly
Hadn’t been here for many years and the food was every bit as good as I’d remembered. Our service was polite but very slow - table at 8 and main course arrived at 9:45. There seemed to be enough staff to cover the floor so I assume the delay was in the kitchen. Would have appreciated some information from the server though instead of having to attract their attention and complain. Only mar on a nice evening. Once the food arrived it was delicious.
Good value with the Evening Standard offer. The food was very good, but the restaurant was incredibly noisy - the wood interior, though lovely looking, seems to make it very echoy and it sounded like the pace was full to bursting when in fact it was not. This was a major detractor to an otherwise very nice evening, with good service and a nice ambiance.
