Butera's Restaurant of Smithtown Ratings and Reviews
Excellent night overall. They were fairly busy for a Monday, which seemed apparent in the staggered service, but the server was exceptionally friendly and hit all the right notes. Food was almost perfect. Home runs on the calamari, the tuna app, the fresh mozzarella salad, and the Portuguese inspired seafood special... the baked clams were the ONLY unfortunate dish. Dry and sandy that night... could have been a fluke. Otherwise loved our experience and would go again.
The food was outstanding - we could tell just by looking at it that it was made with fresh, quality ingredients. My linguine shrimp with broccoli & tomatoes was delicious and the portion was huge - plenty let over for the next day. All the other guests at my table loved their food as well.
We arrived on time for our 5pm reservations. There were plenty of empty tables as it was early evening. They gave us a table looking into the kitchen door. When we asked that our table be changed, we were told that all the other tables were reserved. We ordered wine to be told that they no longer carried that variety. Restaurant was cold - my guest had to keep her coat on.
Food was cold.
Best part of the meal was the bread.....
Food was excellent as always and was served in a timely manner. The server was quite friendly and tended to all our needs. The close proximity to other diners is frustrating at times and the atmosphere is a bit noisy, but the quality of the food and the service outweighs these aspects.
Picked Butera's off the map because we were going to the Smithtown Theater. Checked out the website and the pictures looked good so we took a chance. We were satisfied beyond any expectations we had. The ambiance was warm, very casual and relaxed. The greeter was very friendly. The waiter gave us excellent service, but most of all, the food was delicious! If we're ever around again, we'll definitely come back.
Had 9 people there and everyone really enjoyed the food. With only one alcoholic beverage in all but 4 coffees, a couple appetizers, the cost including tip per person was $37. Just one pizza was ordered. They do very sizable meals that I would encourage splitting. The Nona’s lasagna was incredible but could be split.
I have been here many times before however this week the server Dana took her time to explain some of the dishes on the menu. The four of us had huge servings but more importantly every bite was better than the previous bite. The meal was our best yet and cant say enough about it. I even told our friends last night how enjoyable the night was
It was our first time at Butera's and we really enjoyed the food. Made reservations the same day and were seated on time. The staff was very friendly. The food was tasty and the price was reasonable. Would definitely return and recommend Butera's to friends. 2 thumbs up.
The complimentary bread with hummus was creative and flavorful. The calamari was just the right texture. The risotto in the main dish was delicious, although the grilled shrimp was slightly tough. The pasta with shellfish was overall a great dish, though the two clams were likewise too tough (the mussels and scallops were great). Ambience and service were wonderful, and we would recommend this restaurant.
I asked my daughter for her 15th birthday where she would like to go to eat with a few of her friends and she chose Buteras. I left them and the staff treated her and all her friends well. The food as tasty as always. The only disappointment was knowing this was for her birthday, they didn’t sing her happy birthday. She has a great time none the less and we’ll come back.
