Everything was exceptional and somehow exceeded our high expectations. The pace was perfect, with appetizers and meals coming out just as you became hungry again from the previous course; the ambiance was stellar, striking a nice balance between hip and traditional; the drinks were well-balanced and well-priced; and the food...every course got better and better. The oysters were a nice size and served as a half-dozen with freshly grated horseradish. The broccolini was divine - freshly, bright, spicy, and warm. The lamb, Southern burger, rotisserie chicken, and Artic char were all just exceptionally seasoned, portioned, and priced. I can’t recommend it enough. And our waitstaff was great too - hats off to Rebecca!
Top notch food, everything was adventurous and delicious. Bar staff ridiculously knowledgeable of spirits, especially bourbon - we had an impromptu tasting with Greg that was phenomenal. He knows more about bourbon than anyone I've met (and I'm born and raised here). The mixed cocktails were interesting and delicious. Amazing service, we let the bartenders order our food and they chose wonderfully. One of the best restaurants in Louisville.
This is my go to place for brunch. They recently added chicken and waffles to the menu and I can easily say it's the best in the city. It's so difficult to choose what you're going to eat because it is all so good.
Really great restaurant! Beautiful room, great service, tables are spread far apart. Brussel Sprouts were great. Chicken entree and, burger both perfect. Extensive cocktail list. Service was paced perfectly; not rushed but always attentive.
I was disappointed in the food. I had such high hopes. I had the steak frites. The steak temperature was cooked to perfection (medium rare) but it didn't have much flavor. I've had better steak at chains like the Capital Grille. It probably didn't help that I ate at Jack Fry's recently and their filet makes this steak taste like a marie calender meal. It's was a good steak but really I'd rather eat my own grilled Ribeye at home. Me making a better tasting steak against a trained chef shouldn't happen. I really would choose my thick cut ribeye from Kroger's over thier steak frites (Even without price being a factor). I made a prime rib roast from Kingsley for Christmas. I used a recipe from Pioneer woman. Never made it before. So great! Butchertown steak, nope. Moving on the Fries were really dry and awful. I'd rather eat McDonald's or Homerun burger fries. Why use Fries with this meal? Brought the dish down a notch. The broccolini was decent but didn't blow me away. I mean come on! I hate lima beans and Pat's Steak House has lima beans that blow me away. I'd eat a lima bean sandwich from there. I'd spread those beans on my toast. My wife really loved her burger. I had a bite. It was good. I asked if it was better than the burgers at Baxter Station on Payne before they closed. She loved their burgers for some reason. The answer was "no." Mussel and Burger Bar? "No." Jack Fry's? "Hard to tell" Next the coffee was great at first but getting down to the bottom of the press there was an alcohol like aftertaste. When it came time for dessert I opted to just go home and make my own trader Joes creme brulee. Sad.
Went for a late lunch New yYars Eve Day - limited menu but good.
Service was okay - we said we wanted to take our time but they kept checking. Please.
Also, lots of servers moving past us to go someplace in the back to eat and having conversations - the restaurant is our chance to relax, I am not interested in servers conversations, pep talks, etc.
Just a lot of busyness. One other thing, there was an empty dining area when we arrived and we were a party of two - yet we were placed in the booth closest to the rest rooms and the servers area...why?
Was there a place to hang coats? No one inquired or asked us - we wedged them in our booths and this could have been better.
One nice thing - we left a holiday card on the table and another server stepped out into the cold and returned it to us as we left the restaurant. Thank you.
Excellent food and service, banana bread pudding and benigns are a must have
Fabulous cocktails, really good, hearty pasta dishes that tasted great on a freezing cold night. And thanks to a gracious staff who helped us relocate away from a table of loud-talkers.
I thought it was rather expensive. The food was delicious.
Great service and great food. It was my friend's birthday and they went all out for her birthday.
We went with two families both with babies to celebrate my husbands birthday. The food, drinks, and service were all great. If we lived in Louisville, we would definitely go back.
Overall, we really enjoyed my birthday dinner there. Three of us all had different entrées and we shared multiple delicious side dishes. The salads were actually the highlight and were outstanding. The entrées were also fine. The chicken in particular was delicious. Very trendy, with very pricey craft cocktails. Wine list was interesting in fairly broad, and, whether good or bad, did not have a lot of familiar names . Service was very nice and food came out quite promptly.
Took our two adult boys and a girlfriend and everyone was very impressed with the cocktails and the food. We enjoyed a delightful evening.
We love Lola’s
The atmosphere is cozy and encourages conversation without shouting
The service was excellent. Amber was super attentive and sweet
The Brussels sprout salad was to die for and should stay on the menu year round!!! PERFECT
Meeting Bobby Benjamin was a super fabulous treat
Lola’s is our most favorite place
5 Star all around
Delicious meal as always! Their pecan pear salad with blue cheese ice cream is addictive! The rotisserie chicken is delicious, as is everything we have tried on their menu! Oh, and the brownie they send home with you is one of the best brownies I’ve ever tasted! This restaurant is a real treat!
Great food, great service! Excellent experience!!
Our kids were home for Christmas. Great food, fun setting (we were in Lola) server was knowledgeable, made great recommendations and was fun.
Our new favorite place to go to.
Always great food, nice atmosphere, outstanding drink selection. Butchertown great shopping location which makes Butchertown Grocery a great place to stop and refresh or catch up with friends
We visited one other time in the past, and it was a nice experience. However, this time was TERRIBLE. We were in the upstairs bar, which has a nice idea but the atmosphere, to start, was VERY cold and dark. Our server was kind enough but was unable to read our "readiness" therefore, we heard "are you ready to order" over and over... and over. First course (beet & kale salad, and cauliflower) were yummy but hard to see the beautiful presentation because of the darkness of the room (we are only 30 years old so shouldn't be due to our visual impairment). Main course was TERRIBLE! I got the steak with truffle bernaise. Steak was seasoned well and cooked perfectly; however, ALL components were COLD - steak, bernaise and fries. The fettuccine was so cold and over salted that it was inedible. The server responded well by replacing it with the broccoli; which was fine. Overall, we were so hopeful after our first meal there last year, but this visit fell short. So far short that we are unlikely to ever go back due to the fact that, if The Grocery wants to charge these prices, everything should be well executed: the atmosphere, the service, and the quality of the food.
Fabulous food and service! One of the best restaurants in Louisville!
Great menu with interesting ingredients and unique flavors.
Wonderful food and great ambiance. A little loud for conversation but worth it for the experience.
Amazing food. Great drinks. Cool atmosphere.
Amazing food, amazing service. The smokehouse grits were full of flavor. Can't wait to go back!
Great cocktails and food! Awesome ambiance and service was top notch.
Wonderful brunch. I had the waffles very good. My husband had free cinnamon roll and eggs Benedict. Again very good. Our friends had the beignets and preachers ham and cheese omelette which they loved. They also had the biscuits and gravy and they were just so so. Over all a great place.
One of my favorite restaurants in Louisville! The food is amazing and so unique! Best Sunday brunch too. The chicken and waffles are the best!!!
First time in, came for brunch and can’t wait to come back for dinner! Grace was awesome; helpful and knowledgable, attentive but not intrusive, just perfect. We had an out-of-town friend visiting, so we sat there way longer than we should have, but we didnt feel rushed. Menu was creative and quality is top-notch. Try the baked-in-house pastries! We will be back soon 😛🤗
Do yourself a favor and get there early enough to try the Beignets!!
Smaller venue and slightly more formal than I expected. Sat at a booth and enjoyed the entrees that we ordered. Service was great.
We went here based on several recommendations from friends and were really pleased with everything. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, our waiter was very conscientious and helpful, and the food was excellent. We actually wanted so many things on the menu that we're definitely having to go back. I did have two small complaints: the price of draft beer is quite high for the amount you get, and our food was luke warm when it finally came. This was particularly frustrating because the bernaise sauce that accompanied the steak frites was almost cold and had we not been so hungry, we would have sent it back. Still, a minor point in an overall great dining experience.
We ate here while in town for an industry show at the Expo/Fair Grounds. We come into town at this same time every year. I typically research what the best restaurants of Louisville are and then pick a spot for the group. We had a 7:30 reservation and arrived a little early to have a cocktail at Lola's. Lola's was was the perfect wind down after a long work day. Described as a speak easy, it was dark and very comfortable with it's large wing chairs and day bed style seating. Then we moved on to dinner downstairs. We had fabulous appetizers (the gnocchi was my fav!), delicious entree's and tasty cocktails. Sarah was our server and she was awesome. friendly and professional, attentive, but never intrusive. I would highly recommend!!!
Amazing as always! The scorched cheese appetizer did not disappoint.
This place is sooo good! The gnocchi appetizer is not to be missed! All 4 of us lived our meals. One of our favorite places!
Top notch in every way!
The Brussels sprouts are delicious
Excellent food and a wonderful experience! I highly recommend it
This was a terrific find. We were from out-of-town and read the reviews in Yelp. We would return if ever back in Louisville.
