I was entertaining business associates. The food, service and the ambiance was tremendous, a big hit and very much appreciated and enjoyed.
Received great service the minute I walked in. The staff were very understanding and polite. Staff worked together perfectly. The food was just outstanding. Will definitely recommend to everyone.
I love this place because of its fine dining and elegance.
My favorite restaurant
The hostess wasn’t the greatest she did not want to seat us.
Service and food were great. Noise level is high but we were placed back in a corner so were able to hear.
Wonderful service and exceptional meals for everyone in our party. I have a gluten allergy and the server was able to provide a special gluten free menu (huge plus when you normally have to ask a million questions about how food is prepared) that still encompassed a wide variety of appetizer, entree, and side options. All of our steaks were cooked exactly per our requests and seasoned wonderfully. It was a joint birthday dinner for three of us and we were each surprised with a scoop of ice cream with a candle and a candied “happy birthday” banner. Cannot recommend highly enough!
Butcher and Singer’s porterhouse is the greatest steak I’ve ever tasted. Each bite is better than snuggling than 30 French bulldog puppies. The meat is so smooth and flavorful. Thought about the steak for months after
Our visit was disappointing. The beef wasn't as flavorful as when we had been there last. I don't think the ketchup was Heinz. They need to work on their fries.
The food was terrific, and the service was above and beyond. Our waiter Brian was a consummate professional and a credit to the profession. My Italian clients were well taken care of by the Italian speaking Sommelier, who helped them pick just the right California red to go with their American steak and potatoes. The pacing was perfect and we never felt rushed. Butcher and Singer is a good reminder that their is more to going to a restaurant then just eating. It is the perfect place to have European guests get a good impression of Philadelphia.
A few minor dings. The background music was a touch too loud, overtaking the often pleasant background of restaurant conversations. For the price, my scotch was disappointing, I would estimate 2 tablespoons, particularly for a mid-level blended whiskey.
I will return and I will certainly recommend to others.
The service and food was phenomenal. I can’t wait to return.
Server is very professional Brian, great server
I have been to Butcher and Singer multiple times. The food always is outstanding. The atmosphere was a little louder than I would have liked in that I was there for a business meal. We were initially seated at a booth that would be uncomfortable with people who i know only from business but we were able to move to a 4-top. Overall the service was excellent and our waiter was very knowledgeable though he brought the wrong wine not once but twice. A small matter that ultimately was corrected. All in all an excellent meal.
The food, service and everything about the restaurant was wonderful.
Wonderful experience in all categories. Outstanding!
We were in Philadelphia for leisure and I found Butcher and Singer through Yelp. Everything about our experience was excellent. Our server was great in every way. The pace of the meal was perfect. The food was some of the best I have ever had. My filet was incredibly tender and delicious. I added the ‘Oscar’ option, which I recommend. The biscuits were definitely the best I have ever had. It was a wonderful experience and we would highly recommend dining here.
This is one of my favorite places in Philly!
Great restaurant, friendly, hospitable, knowledgeable servers! Food always a win! Love Butcher and Singer!
very nice cut of meat, prepared right and service was good. bar area is small, just good for a drink before sitting down. we had a late dinner, but noise level was excellent.
Been to butch and singer numerous times. It never disappoints. Great food and service. Our server Matthew was great
My husband and I absolutely love Butcher & Singer - it seriously is hands down one of the best steakhouses in the city! This time I wanted to venture out and try something else on the menu. Our server Donavan was fantastic! He told us about some new items on the menu and even suggested if we were undecided with some items we could order them as an appetizer size. My husband ordered the bone in filet (his favorite) and I ordered the branzino and was not disappointed! We ordered the fried shrimp as an app (3 came with the order) and Singer fries (we used the leftovers with eggs the next morning!). Donavon recommended wines for each of us that would pair with our entrees..and he even brought out samples of 2 different wines to see which we preferred. Our experience was stellar as usual..and now we have a new favorite server!
Our experience was perfect. We were well taken care of from start to finish. The cocktails, salads and entree’s were spot on. Keep up the great work...
This was our first visit to Butcher & Singer and we loved everything about it. The food was delicious from beginning to end! We loved the warm flaky biscuits, salads, filet mignon, side dishes and dessert. The ambiance was great.....somewhat quiet, but there was energy that filled the restaurant too! Our service was fantastic and we felt well taken care of. We can't wait to go back for another special occasion!
The hubs and I were on date night. We had a concert at the academy of music. We arrived at 6:37, seated shortly after. We told our wonderful waitress we had a concert at 8pm. She confidnetly replied that is not a problem. You will be out of here in plenty of time. She was absolutely right. We had the most delicious, moist, mouth watering King salmon with roasted asparagus and brussell sprouts, two glasses of champagne. The table bread OMGOSH the absolute best with the honey butter. We had dessert of carrot cake( very generous portion) and a butterscotch sundae. I went to use the ladies room and my husband to get his coat from coat check. We were out of the restaurant by 7:40. Which was plenty of time to walk to the Academy of music to see Patti Labelle! All in all, my first visit to Butcher and Singer will NOT be my last!
We've been to Butcher and Singer on numerous occasions for dinner and enjoy each time we return, as much as the previous times!
This time, we were celebrating a birthday and had the opportunity to try out lunch. The food was outstanding as always. The service was attentive, friendly and very accommodating to special requests. The ambiance in the evening is dimly lit and very warm and inviting. During the day light the decor takes on a different vibe and the upholstery, draperies and lighting brought out another dimension of the attractive dining spaces. Can't wait to spread the word.
Another great dinner with a client. Cory was our server and was outstanding. Be sure to try the Bacon as a side dish. We both had steak as our main entree and were they prepared as requested. Great wine selection also.
Great experience as always. Ask to be seated in Brian's section. Great server!
This is a great place in Philly. Menu is extensive but focused on steaks, lots of great cuts and options. One of our party had the swordfish and loved it. Service is top notch. Cocktails here (and at the bar) are awesome. This is great place to take a date or just have a drink. Classic, old school, bar experience. Wine list is extensive as well but a bit pricey, as you'd expect from steak houses. Recommended!
We had a wonderful time at butcher and singer. The food was excellent, my filet mignon was done just the way I like it. Our waiter was very attentive and personable. My wife loves sea food and the shellfish platter was just perfect for her. We will definitely be back.
The burger is the best I have eaten in a Philadelphia restaurant. I dine out frequently in Philadelphia center city restaurants , always find my way to Butcher Singer for a burger at lunch.
Always great. A wonderful, comfortable atmosphere. Best crab cakes in my book. Service was a little off...slow. A surprise as I've eaten here many times without ever having to ask for anything.
1st time and will return. We had a fabulous server who made our experience memorable. Personable, attentive yet not intrusive. Even though it was 5 pm on Easter there was no rush, it wasn’t crowded, we didn’t wait to be seated (many restaurants overbook on holidays) and the food was perfection.
Best wedge salad of all the steak houses in the city and a perfectly cooked Delmonico. Sides of bacon, Brussels sprouts and a monster baked potato were all excellent and they serve the most buttery & flaky cheddar biscuits with the salad & meal - don’t skip these!
Desserts? Wow. Mouth-puckering key lime pie (and that’s a compliment) and an amazing single serving of baked Alaska. That one should not be missed if you’re a fan of perfectly moist yet crisp meringue.
We went for Easter, a little something special. The food and service are great, and the decor is beautiful. It's quite expensive, so be prepared to pay top dollar for the area.
I LOVE this place. Best steakhouse in Philly. We were a party of 5 and every dish was perfection - caesar salad, steak tartare, our meats (delmonico, filet and strip) were superb, as were the creamed spinach and mashed potatos. Highly recommend it!!
Pretty expensive meal and not sure it was worth it
We wanted a romantic spot for a great dinner. Butcher and Singer is perfect !!!
The place is very sophisticated and the food was great - the server was very efficient but not that personable. We basically split everything and the food was fabulous - the steak was done perfectly, and the macaroni and cheese was great. The crab cocktail was not great lumps but still good.
The wine list was great - but the only bottle we wanted was sold out - so we had glasses.
Would go back and recommend.
From the service to the food, everything was impeccable.
Server was great
Bone in filet perfectly cooked
One word: fantastic!!
Our waiter was wonderful. The food was delicious and prepared perfectly. The music was too loud.
Butcher and Singer is one of my favorites in the Rittenhouse Square area. The restaurant has a great vibe - reminiscent of the 1940's; architecturally interesting and aesthetically pleasing. The staff is highly trained and knowledgeable. The service is outstanding. They have a beautiful wine selection, and on this evening, we enjoyed 2 of the Portuguese wines which were featured. Every dish is prepared to perfection. Definitely a must especially for steak lovers!!
