One of the best NY Strip steaks I have ever had and I have been to almost all of the best steakhouses in the US.
Our server Ricky was great and the food was superb as always
Wonderful meal ! Excellent service !
We went to Butcher and Singer as a family for our son's birthday. It was a delicious meal and we had a server named Drew who was outstanding ! Great menu. The portions are large so I split with my husband. We had a great veal chop. My daughter and daughter in law ordered salads for their entrees. It was perfect meal. Very nice wine selection as well. It's a very pretty place. We highly recommend !
Wonderful place to dine. Enjoyed a great meal and was not rushed despite a full restaurant.
35th wedding anniversary
We have been here a few times. Always great. Valet parking is a good option.
This is my favorite steakhouse. I came to Philly from DC specifically to celebrate my birthday at B&S. I was not disappointed.
The ambiance is perfect: dark & cozy, but still well lit and comfortable. Energetic atmosphere abuzz with conversation, but not excessively noisy. Classic jazz/big band music reminiscent of classy supper clubs of old.
The wine and spirits lists are comprehensive but not so big as to be unapproachable. I did a little research ahead of time and picked two bottles that would compliment our meal. When we arrived they were both available, but I perused the list anyway to see if anything stuck out. I had a couple great conversations with the sommelier who reinforced my choices: a lovely Muscadet to accompany seafood appetizers and a spicy, tannic Tempranillo to pair with our steaks. Both bottles were fantastic and paired perfectly with each course.
Our server treated us so amazingly well. We weren't rushed. We ate and drank each course comfortably and leisurely.
The oysters were fresh and delicious. The escargots were rich and succulent. We opted for the massive 50 oz tomahawk ribeye and it did not disappoint. We were encouraged to gnaw on the 2 foot bone, which I did with enthusiasm and vigor. The steak itself was cooked to a perfect medium rare with a lovely crust and melt-in-your-mouth bits of marbling. Sides: stuffed hash browns (crispy crust and a creamy tender interior) and creamed spinach (luscious and classic).
For dessert we had a glass of port with a spread of 3 desserts: butterscotch sundae, key lime pie, and baked Alaska. These were all absolutely amazing, but the star of the show was undoubtedly the baked Alaska. Toasted meringue covering banana ice cream all on a lovely cake and crust. It is an amazing marriage of contradictory experiences: crispy & soft, warm & cold, sweet & nutty.
We finished the night with an Islay scotch. Pure bliss.
Butcher and Singer will not disappoint. Go here. Eat and drink everything. Enjoy.
My wife and I had dinner here and can report that the food and the service and the atmosphere were all excellent. Highly recommend.
Really great experience and great food. Our server was awesome and very knowledgeable. The only complaint we had was how dark it was.
We had a nice table, a fabulous dinner, an extremely competent and friendly waiter. What more could you ask? We enjoyed out visit immensely.
I was entertaining business associates. The food, service and the ambiance was tremendous, a big hit and very much appreciated and enjoyed.
Received great service the minute I walked in. The staff were very understanding and polite. Staff worked together perfectly. The food was just outstanding. Will definitely recommend to everyone.
I love this place because of its fine dining and elegance.
My favorite restaurant
The hostess wasn’t the greatest she did not want to seat us.
Got there about 45 minutes before our reservation. Sat at the bar and had a few drinks. Bartender was nice and made a little small talk though he was getting crushed by the service bar. Sat right on time. Ordered Filet and she had the Del Monaco steak. Both were cooked perfectly. For sides, we ordered the stuffed hash brown, green beans and the bacon. Portions were huge. The sides were great, but the biscuits were really good. I think our server’s name was Corey. Very professional and attentive. Next trip to Philly, we will return.
Service and food were great. Noise level is high but we were placed back in a corner so were able to hear.
Wonderful service and exceptional meals for everyone in our party. I have a gluten allergy and the server was able to provide a special gluten free menu (huge plus when you normally have to ask a million questions about how food is prepared) that still encompassed a wide variety of appetizer, entree, and side options. All of our steaks were cooked exactly per our requests and seasoned wonderfully. It was a joint birthday dinner for three of us and we were each surprised with a scoop of ice cream with a candle and a candied “happy birthday” banner. Cannot recommend highly enough!
Butcher and Singer’s porterhouse is the greatest steak I’ve ever tasted. Each bite is better than snuggling than 30 French bulldog puppies. The meat is so smooth and flavorful. Thought about the steak for months after
Our visit was disappointing. The beef wasn't as flavorful as when we had been there last. I don't think the ketchup was Heinz. They need to work on their fries.
The food was terrific, and the service was above and beyond. Our waiter Brian was a consummate professional and a credit to the profession. My Italian clients were well taken care of by the Italian speaking Sommelier, who helped them pick just the right California red to go with their American steak and potatoes. The pacing was perfect and we never felt rushed. Butcher and Singer is a good reminder that their is more to going to a restaurant then just eating. It is the perfect place to have European guests get a good impression of Philadelphia.
A few minor dings. The background music was a touch too loud, overtaking the often pleasant background of restaurant conversations. For the price, my scotch was disappointing, I would estimate 2 tablespoons, particularly for a mid-level blended whiskey.
I will return and I will certainly recommend to others.
The service and food was phenomenal. I can’t wait to return.
Server is very professional Brian, great server
I have been to Butcher and Singer multiple times. The food always is outstanding. The atmosphere was a little louder than I would have liked in that I was there for a business meal. We were initially seated at a booth that would be uncomfortable with people who i know only from business but we were able to move to a 4-top. Overall the service was excellent and our waiter was very knowledgeable though he brought the wrong wine not once but twice. A small matter that ultimately was corrected. All in all an excellent meal.
The food, service and everything about the restaurant was wonderful.
Wonderful experience in all categories. Outstanding!
Amazing restaurant! We started with the Caesar salad, which was the best I've ever had. The oysters were fresh and tasty. My entrée consisted of a delicious filet and baked potato. After I saw other diners with the tater tots, I wish I would have included them! While I found the prices to be somewhat high, the old adage of "you get what you pay for" would apply! Would definitely make a return visit.
We were in Philadelphia for leisure and I found Butcher and Singer through Yelp. Everything about our experience was excellent. Our server was great in every way. The pace of the meal was perfect. The food was some of the best I have ever had. My filet was incredibly tender and delicious. I added the ‘Oscar’ option, which I recommend. The biscuits were definitely the best I have ever had. It was a wonderful experience and we would highly recommend dining here.
This is one of my favorite places in Philly!
Great restaurant, friendly, hospitable, knowledgeable servers! Food always a win! Love Butcher and Singer!
very nice cut of meat, prepared right and service was good. bar area is small, just good for a drink before sitting down. we had a late dinner, but noise level was excellent.
Been to butch and singer numerous times. It never disappoints. Great food and service. Our server Matthew was great
My husband and I absolutely love Butcher & Singer - it seriously is hands down one of the best steakhouses in the city! This time I wanted to venture out and try something else on the menu. Our server Donavan was fantastic! He told us about some new items on the menu and even suggested if we were undecided with some items we could order them as an appetizer size. My husband ordered the bone in filet (his favorite) and I ordered the branzino and was not disappointed! We ordered the fried shrimp as an app (3 came with the order) and Singer fries (we used the leftovers with eggs the next morning!). Donavon recommended wines for each of us that would pair with our entrees..and he even brought out samples of 2 different wines to see which we preferred. Our experience was stellar as usual..and now we have a new favorite server!
Our experience was perfect. We were well taken care of from start to finish. The cocktails, salads and entree’s were spot on. Keep up the great work...
This was our first visit to Butcher & Singer and we loved everything about it. The food was delicious from beginning to end! We loved the warm flaky biscuits, salads, filet mignon, side dishes and dessert. The ambiance was great.....somewhat quiet, but there was energy that filled the restaurant too! Our service was fantastic and we felt well taken care of. We can't wait to go back for another special occasion!
The hubs and I were on date night. We had a concert at the academy of music. We arrived at 6:37, seated shortly after. We told our wonderful waitress we had a concert at 8pm. She confidnetly replied that is not a problem. You will be out of here in plenty of time. She was absolutely right. We had the most delicious, moist, mouth watering King salmon with roasted asparagus and brussell sprouts, two glasses of champagne. The table bread OMGOSH the absolute best with the honey butter. We had dessert of carrot cake( very generous portion) and a butterscotch sundae. I went to use the ladies room and my husband to get his coat from coat check. We were out of the restaurant by 7:40. Which was plenty of time to walk to the Academy of music to see Patti Labelle! All in all, my first visit to Butcher and Singer will NOT be my last!
We've been to Butcher and Singer on numerous occasions for dinner and enjoy each time we return, as much as the previous times!
This time, we were celebrating a birthday and had the opportunity to try out lunch. The food was outstanding as always. The service was attentive, friendly and very accommodating to special requests. The ambiance in the evening is dimly lit and very warm and inviting. During the day light the decor takes on a different vibe and the upholstery, draperies and lighting brought out another dimension of the attractive dining spaces. Can't wait to spread the word.
Another great dinner with a client. Cory was our server and was outstanding. Be sure to try the Bacon as a side dish. We both had steak as our main entree and were they prepared as requested. Great wine selection also.
Great experience as always. Ask to be seated in Brian's section. Great server!
