Butcher & Singer Ratings and Reviews
Butcher and singer’s steakhouse was amazing. I loved every bit of the restaurant and food. I will and have recommended I️t to friends and family. I’m happy i found this place online. Service, food, just everything was perfect. Will be visiting again in the future
One of the best steaks (I had the NY Strip) I've had in a long time. Perfectly cooked to medium-rare, it was an excellent cut of meat. The bone marrow appetizer special was delicious - accurately described by our terrific server as "meat butter." Expensive, but worth the price for high quality steak.
Great find in a city of steak restaurants. Better than everything was our server Brian. Outstanding service and attention to detail all while being pleasant and carrying on a fun conversation. I'd go as far as saying the best server I've ever had period. Back to the restaurant, highly recommended.
I feel like this place deserves way more than 5 stars! I think this may have been the best steak I've ever had in my life! In fact, every item we ordered was perfectly prepared and tasted beyond delicious. Our server was ON POINT. She had drinks at the table before we needed refills and made sure to have everything ready to go when we needed them. There's nothing worse than having your steak served with no knife on the table. This place was class all the way! The dessert and drinks we're all amazing. Our waitress even brought us an extra dessert because she knew I was contemplating trying the baked alaska. So nice. I honestly will do the 2 hour drive from north jersey to go to dinner here on the next special occasion.
Came here from out of town for business. Probably the best steak I've ever had, hands down. I don't even consider myself a real steak lover, but I thoroughly enjoyed the Porterhouse. My boyfriend and I are light eaters and I was worried the staff would be stuck up if we didn't both order drinks or a steak for 2 portion, but everyone was lovely and I didn't feel pressured to go all out.
The service was great, at the beginning of the meal we got a lot of attention because it was a 5:00 PM reservation, the service had slowed as the place got busier but was still great. The atmosphere was very nice, perfect for a date or special occasion- wasn't too loud or too quiet. I would definitely dress up a bit to come here.
My only complaint was the mashed potatoes were a little too buttery for my taste- they really tasted like straight up butter. Also I probably wouldn't order the fried calamari as an app if I came again, just wasn't up to parr with the rest of the food for the price.
Biscuits they serve at the beginning of the meal were amazing, salad was good, drinks were great. Chocolate cake and coffee at the end of the meal was delicious. Of course a little pricey, but in my opinion worth it and nothing was over the top priced if you order right. Overall I would definitely come back.
Great experience. Waiter was a bit rude, judgy of our requests. You’d think they would be a little more welcoming or accepting — but no! “Oh! You want it THAT way?” said beneath rolling eyes ...
At least wait until your customers cannot see you before you get mouthy and rude. Other than him, everything was great.
We came, all of us for the first time, to B&S for a work holiday party. We sort of went all out with cocktails, the shellfish platter and potato skins. (Who knew potato skins could be so yummy, says the partakers.) Then all of us got salads (steak, tuna and cobb) except one of us who got a chicken type dish. All of us were stuffed. We finished off with dessert--key lime pie was the winner but the creme brulee a second. My carrot cake left a little to be desired in the frosting area. Service was awesome--we weren't rushed. Ambience is very old school classy. We definitely felt in the lap of luxury compared to Parc and The Dandelion where we've gone before.
It's a classic steakhouse type menu. Nothing outstanding or noteworthy on the menu, but the space (a former bank lobby) is pretty cool. Drinks, particularly the wine selection, is WAY OVERPRICED (in the order 4-5x markup from retail). We couldn't find one reasonably priced bottle or glass of wine to accompany our meals, which sucked cuz I would've liked to have wine with my steak.
We celebrated my wife's B-day on Saturday Nov. 25th. For the most part food was good. My wife ordered the Bronzino and in my opinion it was "NOT FRESH"! It had a "fishy" smell, it tasted ok. On a positive note my filet was wonderful.
I think your drink prices are quite high, we had a bloody mary & stinger and the bill for drinks only was about $30.00!
this was one of the nicest restaurants we ever visited. our waiter was extremely helpful in describing how their meat was prepared and suggesting some things to order. their " butcher salad" was a great choice and very unique set of ingredients. the staff was very attentive from the moment we entered. highly recommended
We were in Philadelphia for the Thanksgiving day weekend,we made reservations through open table for butcher and singer after reading the reviews , but our expectation was above and beyond what we could imagine. From the moment we walked. The staff was friendly. Everything from the Decour, to the music playing, was extraordinary. Our waiter Brian was fabulous and while knowledge. The food was out of this world so were the drinks. We couldn't stop talking about the food and the service. According to my brother-in law that it was one of his best meals he's ever had in his entire life. Thank you for making this an extraordinary and Fabulous weekend in Philadelphia butcher and singer.
Food was delicious! Wine/cocktail selection was perfect! The building itselt is gorgeous! The waitress was very efficient, although not very warm. Not that it mattered much, she did her job very well in serving us promptly and was curtious. Great time overall!
Went for my son’s 24th birthday. There were 6 of us. Four of us ordered the porterhouse for two, one ordered the swordfish, and the other the filet. The meat was delicious! Beware tho that medium is more like rare; pink edges and hot red center. If you don’t like to see red, order medium well. We started with one B &S salad, which had the kitchen sink in it and was good, but not outstanding. One person ordered the special seasonal salad tha had pears, apples and blue cheese in it and it was very good. Our sides were roasted cauliflower (nothing special), bacon Mac & cheese (outstanding) and mashed potatoes (very good). Dessert was homemade ice cream and coffee (yum). Believe it or not the most memorable part of the dinner for me (we were all swooning) was the bread/biscuits and honey butter. I could have eaten those all night and been happy. Truly the most delicious flaky biscuits and best butter I’ve ever had. All in all it was a wonderful dinner. Very expensive as everything is a la carte, so a $50 steak along with everything else running from $12-24 each comes with a pretty high price tag, but for a special occasion it’s worth splurging. Great evening!
The ambience and service is great. We had fried calamari, Caesar salad, and the Porterhouse for two. The calamari and salads were good, but the porterhouse was way too salty, to the point of being unable to eat. I’m usually one who pours salt on everything, but it was way too overpowering.
