Steak
Butcher & Singer, in the amazing historic location at 1500 Walnut, is an intimate and sophisticated dining experience in a relaxed clubhouse setting. We brought back the true classics from perfect Manhattans and Sidecars to hand cut steaks and chops, and freshly caught fish. Timeless and fun for all in the continued age of the American chophouse.

Came here for Restaurant Week and had a fabulous evening. We arrived early for our reservations just so we could hang out at the swanky bar they have. House cocktails did not disappoint and the bartenders were very professional.
We we seated at a table for two on the upper side level. Table is just big enough to accommodate the required glasses and plates. The styling and ambience make me think that this is where the cast of Mad Men would go when they wanted a steak dinner.
And what a steak dinner it was. My piece of fillet was as tall as it was round. Cooked a perfect medium rare and rested long enough so no juices were waisted yet the meat was still warm. Alas, the stuffed hash browns were not on the prix fixe menu. However the creamed spinach was delicious.
Everything about our evening here had polish and class. The staff was welcoming and helpful both to guests and each other. Working as finely together as the jazz bands that provided the soundtrack for the evening.

If you are looking for sumptuous steaks and perfectly crafted cocktails make a reservation here. The service was impeccable as well. The ambiance is that of a low light steakhouse out of the 40s and creates a great atmosphere for a date night or special occasion. We will be back!

Food was tasty but soup, filet, and creamed corn spinach were served lukewarm. Server was not friendly and never checked on us when we received food. I've been here before and I know this is not the norm.

Very good for restaurant week. Ambiance is amazing! We ordered “flat water no ice” thinking it was normal tap water but were then charged $7 for the water, which was very expensive.

I think maybe my expectations were a little too high. Service was excellent, and we got some delicious virgin cocktails. As far as food goes, I could have eaten an entire basket of the bread of the butter. And the lump crab was insanely delicious (and I usually dont prefer crab). The mushroom soup was ok, but just couldnt get myself to finish it (maybe it was the grainy texture?), and my steak was cooked a little more like a medium than a medium rare. Mashed potatoes were nice and creamy and well seasoned though. Dessert was standard.

Food was good not amazing. We were seated in the middle area of the restaurant. I felt crowded. We moved the table to try to have more room and the person's seat behind mine was still banging into mine

I loved the old Hollywood atmosphere. The restaurant is cozy and can get noisy if busy. The filet was excellent and the mushroom soup was delicious! The service was attentive and friendly. I would recommend this restaurant for couples, business dinners and friends night out!

I came here for restaurant week and I ordered the steak, baked goat cheese, mashed potatoes, and lemon tart off the restaurant week menu. It was all super delicious although I had placed an order for medium rare and got rare/almost blue - I didn’t mind it since I had debated going a bit rare this time but it was a good sear on all sides. I always enjoy Butcher and Singer’s atmosphere and ambiance with friends.

We came for restaurant week. Aksana was our server and did an excellent job. I just wish you would serve some bread with the meal. I have a healthy appetite and the portion of Salmon was perfect but the amount of salad was very small.

A friend was celebrating her birthday so I know she enjoy her meal. She opted for the generous burger and shared her delicious fries.

Thank you for participating in Restaurant Week.

Soup had tin foil in it. They were very apologia and gave two extra sides but still diminished the dining experience. Could have offered more.

Delicious and wonderful, as always. Hands down the best steakhouse in Philadelphia. We go a couple times each year to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. This year we celebrated during Restaurant Week. Even though it’s a limited menu, it has something to please everyone. Everyone (6 of us) ordered the filet mignon that was so tender and cooked to perfection. We went off the menu and ordered the hash browns, which easily serves 6 people. If you’ve never had it, it is definitely a must!! It is just so delicious. As always, the service was impeccable.

If you’ve never been to Butcher and Singer and want a great dining experience, you must try it!

Always love dining in the beautiful space. Restaurant week menu was fantastic. There were 3 of us and we supplemented with an extra appetizer (escargot) and 2 additional sides. We were able to take home an entire meal +2 of our three desserts. The food was fantastic. Our waiter was charming and friendly and took great care of us.

Very nice ambiance. Very limited menu. Food was good but not outstanding. I had a Cosmopolitan which seemed like there was no alcohol in it. For what it cost, which was a treat for me, it was disappointing. They gave no bread and butter, no dish to put anything on.

Celebrated a wedding anniversary. From reservation to completed dinner everything was exceptional especially the service. (Jason was awesome) The only confusion was when a call to confirm we were still coming,I was asked if we were celebrating anything. I mentioned we were celebrating an anniversary they said great. The server knew and wished us happy anniversary, but at most typical high end restaurants, they either offer a desert or drink from the restaurant. Neither was offered.

Very elegant vibes. Awesome service. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the drinks and the oyster Rockefeller, the food was unimpressive. For top dollar I want a top cut of steak. Medium temperatured delmonico was very tough to cut, burnt around the edges and completely raw in the center. Hashbrown cake had no flavor. Creamed spinach was very salty.

Elegant steak house with plenty of options for seafood, chicken and salad lovers. Everything was done perfectly. All orders were delivered as requested, and timing was excellent. Excellent service. We've been here before and we'll be back.
