Butcher & Singer
Food and service was great. I will continue to come back!
The service was excellent.
The oyster appetizer was ok (nothing special). The fried calamari was fishy as though the calamari was not rinsed before breading. The delmonico was perfectly prepared at medium rare. The branzino was well dine but had a bit too much butter. The mashed potatoes were a bit watery. The cauliflower and the green beans were perfectly prepared. All in all very good but not outstanding. Waited 30 min for car valet as well.
All I need to say: hands down the best filet Mignon I’ve had in my 25 years of existence.
From the moment we entered the restaurant the service was great. Our server Brian was outstanding and made the entire dining experience a total pleasure. He was helpful in explaining the menu and answering any questions. We will be returning.
Absolutely amazing as Always they never disappoint ! I love it
This place was recommended by a local of the area. The food and atmosphere was absolutely incredible. If you are looking for a place to take and impress your significant other, this is definitely the spot.
An amazing first experience at Butcher & Singer to celebrate a birthday. The service was on point, the food was amazing, possible the best NY Strip I have ever had. For the quality of the experience the price was a great value.
Classy and vibrant atmosphere. Some of the best manhattans I’ve had. Tomahawk steak and shrimp cocktail was excellent and cooked perfectly. A bit pricey but overall a great dining experience. My only critique would be at times we felt a little rushed.
This place gets an A.
Brian, our server, was out of this world! Thanks for a greats anniversary supper!
Went to Butcher and Singer for a birthday meal while visiting Philly. The food and ambiance was excellent and our server Brian was a real professional. Would definitely eat there again!
I have eaten at Butcher and Singer in the past, and enjoyed outstanding steaks and prime cuts of beef. This visit was a bit disappointing, as both orders (the porterhouse for two, and the very large tomahawk rib steak) were inconsistent, with some areas of each steak very tender and flavorful, while other bites were a bit rubbery difficult to chew. The creamed spinach seemed almost "runny" and the flavor was so subtle as to be missed.
My martini lacked any "punch." The cheesecake for dessert was outstanding.
Overall, a less than stellar experience at a local steakhouse that I has never missed the mark before.
There were a couple ordering mistakes corrected quickly. The steak was medium rare when I ordered medium plus. Still was good but it seems many premium steak places live to under cook
Butcher and Singer is the best steakhouse in Philadelphia !
Delicious steak! The baked Alaska dessert is far and away the best dessert I have ever tasted.
The standard of excellence for steakhouses in Philadelphia. Always a great experience.
Food and service are always excellent. Porterhouse for two is the best in Philly.
Valet pretty expensive I thought. Excellent drinks. Great steak. Server was amazing in every respect. Had to ask to move as a very loud party of guys were soooo loud it made it difficult to hear our conversation. And it was really just the one guy dominating their conversation. But the staff was very accommodating and without hesitation moved us to another table on the other side of the room. Great job.
Fantastic food, tasteful decor and staff and excellent service as always.
Loud nose - in restaurant. Sound
From the moment you enter the door until you leave this is every great steak and seafood place rolled into one great package!
50oz bone in ribeye- wow.
Seafood tower- wow’r
Lobster A’la Newburg - best I’ve ever tasted.
Baked Alaska - a must have.
The porterhouse for 2 was amazing!!! Cooked and seasoned to perfection and not to mention the Crab Dip and Tuna Tartar was very delicious.
IMHO this is clearly the best steak house in the city. First of all, the ambience is fantastic. Elegant decor, perfect table settings. The service is very attentive without being at all overbearing. The staff will accommodate just about any reasonable request. The food is served in a timely way but there's no rush. The cocktails are wonderful. The salads are wonderful and large. It sometimes might be better to order half a salad if you're going to have a large steak dinner. This is something not all steakhouses allow you to do. As for the steak, it's fabulous. Very flavorful and tender and cooked exactly as you order it. You can have steak done to any degree inside and still have it Pittsburgh (charred) on the outside. Delicious. For veggies at least get the hash browns stuffed with sour cream and onions. This place is perfect for that special occasion dinner, a business meeting meal or just about any time you want the best steak in town. Highly recommended.
Great Anniversary dinner
Four of us for my birthday. The menu is terrific. The wait staff was really professional and coached us through the food choices in a most helpful way. And we just loved the ambience. A return trip (or two or so)? Oh I think so.
Beautiful environment. Classic steak house with romantic retro vibe. Excellent service.
Thank you for making our anniversary very special. Brandy was an excellent server.
Butcher and Singer was excellent from start to finish. Everything from the cocktails, to the service, to the food itself was perfection. Wasn’t cheap of course, but perfect for a special occasion. Would absolutely go back.
Outstanding meal, every time we visit. Stunning decor. Order the bacon!!!
This is the best restaurant in Philadelphia! We will be eating here again. The staff are so professional and the atmosphere is stunning.
The food and service were excellent! We'll definitely be coming back!
Food was great and Brian was an awesome waiter. Delmonico cooked medium = heaven
I took my wife to Butcher & Singer for our anniversary. We had a great time and the food was very good. The service was wonderful and the primary entrees were outstanding. I ordered the halibut and my wife ordered the lobster. The only opportunity was the sides which after a while were cool in temperature, however, overall good flavor and portion size. We took Lyft to get there so parking was not an issue. On price, Yes, it is a bit pricey $$$, but worth it for a special occasion.
Foods and service was goods but forgot own anniversary
B&S is a typical sexy, dark steakhouse with nice sized cuts of meat, huge side dishes, and the same ol' same ol' dessert menu.
A lot of the apps sounded amazing, but after tearing into both flaky biscuits with honey butter, I wanted to make sure I still had room for dessert; those biscuits....WOW. I was so close to asking for some to go, they are that good. For my entree I chose the halibut, and maybe I did not hear my waiter or he was not clear, but the halibut comes not only comes with cauliflower puree, there is also a side of roasted cauliflower. Due to the confusion, I ordered a 1/2 order of asparagus (keep in mind that most of the sides can be ordered as 1/2 portions), and it was a bit too much for me. However, both dishes were cooked to perfection and I was highly impressed. After perusing the dessert menu, I decided to pop into Alma De Cuba for their chocolate cigar (amazing). I have loved all of the Starr restaurants I have dined at, so even though I chose dessert elsewhere, I still kept it in the family.
Beautiful restaurant, former home of Stripped Bass, with a 1940's feel and ambience. However, the food is 2019 and excellent. The Porterhouse for 2 was one of the best we ever had, perfectly seasoned and cooked. The Stuffed Hash Browns are to die for and the Wedge Salad was excellent as were the cold bar appetizers. Service was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. They also have valent parking.
Very attentive service. Perfectly prepared food. Well paced delivery of all food items.
Great food, great service, terrific ambiance! This place never disappoints!
This is one of my favorite restaurants but I was a bit disappointed this visit. My appetizer came on a large bed of ice which fell all over the table when I tried to eat it. My steak was very chewy and I had a hard time cutting it. I hope this was just an off night. I really love the atmosphere and will be back
Fabulous dinner and ambience. Service was superb. My husband and I love treating ourselves here several times per year. Amazing.
