Butcher & Bee - Charleston
Book your next event with us
Not particularly impressed. Very limited menu. Food not prepared according to specifications (hamburgers requested medium rare were well done). Service was good. Doubtful we will return.
Waiter would refill one drink and not the other. Brought one straw and not two.
Seemed like he wanted us to move on before the last bite. Not a great place
to meet a friend and catch up.
Loved the vibe, the coffee! and the food
A little slow to get us seated even though we were a 2-top with a reservation
Will return most definitely
WEnt based on online reviews. Two couples visiting Charleston. Loved the ambiance and the food. Great night all around and fair value.
The food was ok. We had two different kinds of sandwiches for lunch. The roast beef was quite good but not so wonderful I would go back to have it again. The lamb did not taste of lamb at all. The yogurt dip was the best part of the meal.
Butcher and Bee was probably the best dinner we had in Charleston. Creative, delicious, and shareable (which we love). Everything was great, but the cauliflower small plate and mushroom pasta were particularly tasty.
The restaurant itself is lovely, and the only downside was our rather surly waiter who didn’t even bother to wipe the table until asked.
Incredible experience. Staff was accommodating and fun. Food exceeded our expectations and was very unique. Definitely will recommend to everyone in Charleston.
I was in town and my parents had been wanting to try so I made a reservation. We got up and left and went to Edmund’s Oast instead. We were 5 minutes early for our reservation and had to wait 30 minutes to be seated, which is ridiculous. Then the waiter came, and took one person’s drink order and walked away. Did not take the other drink orders and did not come back for the 15-20 minutes we sat there. Saw him throughout the dining room doing other things, but never came back. Never even got water. So we got up and left and went next door. Will not be back.
Great choice for a diverse group. Something for everyone - fresh fish, meat, and excellent vegetarian options. We are not vegans by any means, but thoroughly enjoyed a meatless meal just because the items sounded that good - and they were! Preparations and flavors are like nothing you will find anywhere, from cocktails to dessert. Service was excellent. Ambiance is urban, chic, energetic, but can also be considered romantic albeit a little noisy (vibrant, not annoying). Highly recommend Butcher and Bee as an out-of-the-ordinary experience in Charleston.
Amazing food!! Creative and fun atmosphere, became one of my favorites!!
We enjoyed the food, the waitress ' service and personality and the atmosphere.
Service was great, food was delicious. Food is great for sharing family style and it’s nice to get off busy king st. Great place to get together with friends.
Lovely meal, interesting and flexible menu with small plates and big plates. Delicious food in relaxed surroundings.
Visiting Charleston for the first time. Came here for brunch and couldn’t have made a better choice. The food was spectacular and the staff made the experience even better. Wish we had more days so we could come back. Next time!!!!
Always great. Have added more diverse menu options (hamburger, etc). Vegetarian combinations are great. Had the whipped feta, cold eggplant salad, and the flavors of the Moroccan snapper, saffron rice and a bunch of goodies was special. Service is low key and attentive. You will not be disappointed.
Appetizers and entrees came out right on top of each other. Better timing would have been appreciated
Would not recommend. Made a reservation with a request for a booth. Walked in to a nearly empty restaurant and they sat us at a table. When we moved to a booth a waitress rushed over and said we couldn’t sit there, “It’s reserved for a reservation and we are packed tonight”. Really....only three tables were occupied. If my request could not be met the hostess should have made reference to that. Not be yelled at and embarrassed by a waitress. Promptly left and won’t be back.
Great birthday dinner with girlfriends! Loved it.
The staff was excellent and the food was extremely good. Drinks were a little pricey bet a great selection to choose from. Overall will be a repeat customer
Hostess said out loud to the lady she was training “do not sit them at that table, it’s too nice of a table”
Steak was not the best cut. Kind of chewy.
Desert was a frozen ice cream sandwich, served with a steak knife. I know, right?!
No national brands of beer, only local brews.
Food very interesting and delicious...LOVED the dates wrapped in bacon💕💕
You have an open kitchen but the kitchen etiquette is sub par to say the least. The food is pretty good but having seen their disgusting aprons and dirty hand towels, it is extremely off putting. If the kitchen wasn’t viewable I probably would have enjoyed the meal bc ignorance is bliss and the food is order pretty good.
Excellent food and service. Waiter gave me 2 pastries at the end of the night for free!! Amazing night! So surprised it took me this long to finally go. I have meant to go for about 2 and a half years now. Great first time!!
One of the best meals I have had in a while. Everything we ordered was done to perfection. From start to finish: AMAZING. Our favorites so far are the spicy carrots, bacon wrapped dates, whipped feta (a must!) and the steak. The cocktails were awesome as well and they had a great wine and beer list. After the meal, our server gave us some complimentary pastries to go. Delicious! Overall a perfect experience.
fantastic except for the chanterelles which had way too much salt. Victor was able to eat it though. would like the recipe as I have them growing in my backyard
Always excellent , food, atmosphere and management (owner Michael) welcoming environment and one of our favorites
Delicious love your restaurant thank you
You have to have the whipped feta with pita and the stuffed dates. OMG!! came back just for those two appetizers. Kabobs were delicious.
Amazing food and service.
Feta dip with honey and pita
Tons of Rose
I took my wife here for her birthday dinner and the food was fantastic along with the atmosphere. We will definitely come back here again!
Fantastic tasting menu!
It was a little awkward when we arrived for our reservation. Both of the two restaurant staff people near the front door walked by us several times, completely ignoring us and offering no greeting or welcome. We were unsure of what to do, or where to stand....and felt very strange and unwelcome. It was not the usual reception you normally receive in a restaurant of this caliber - - especially in a "foodie" town like Charleston where the competition is fierce for diners. Note to manager: tell your people to at least say "hello" to new guests who arrive.
It also seemed a little odd that Rose' was the only wine selection on the menu. We assume that the wine menu must be seasonal, but not a great choice if you don't like Rose'.
The feta cheese appetizer (with fermented honey) was spectacular and we did enjoy our meal. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. We thought it was odd, however, that they didn't offer any dessert (not sure if this was server oversight or if they just don't offer dessert).
Because the food was good, I would recommend the restaurant to a friend. However, with all of the fine dining opportunities available in Charleston, we probably wouldn't go back.
Everything was so good, and the restaurant is beautiful! Definitely get the hummus or the whipped feta. The hummus was the best I’ve ever had! I had lamb tartar, which came on a bed of the whipped feta. I’ve never had anything like the whipped feta, and it was sooooo delicious with the tartar! Another must have are the grilled peaches. So beautiful, and the taste is incredible! My friend enjoyed the local lettuce salad, and I found the chilled corn soup refreshing and tasty. We finished the meal off with the panna cotta, and it was very good. Overall, a fantastic meal with excellent service as well. We highly recommend Butcher and Bee!
One of the best meals of our lives. We got the tasting - would highly recommend. Every bite was delicious
Food was great and atmosphere was nice.
Food is excellent and creative. Excellent value. May have been short a server as when the restaurant filed up, the staff seemed under pressure. But they were gracious and gave us free dessert that was unnecessary. Thank you!
Sat at the chefs table. Michael was great. Informative and entertaining. Cynthia was also wonderful. Took her time to engage with us. I appreciate that. Food was amazing. Live the middle-eastern influence and local, seasonal produce.
Great food. Ok service. Fresh as it gets. Great menu
