Hostess said out loud to the lady she was training “do not sit them at that table, it’s too nice of a table”
Steak was not the best cut. Kind of chewy.
Desert was a frozen ice cream sandwich, served with a steak knife. I know, right?!
No national brands of beer, only local brews.
Food very interesting and delicious...LOVED the dates wrapped in bacon💕💕
You have an open kitchen but the kitchen etiquette is sub par to say the least. The food is pretty good but having seen their disgusting aprons and dirty hand towels, it is extremely off putting. If the kitchen wasn’t viewable I probably would have enjoyed the meal bc ignorance is bliss and the food is order pretty good.
Excellent food and service. Waiter gave me 2 pastries at the end of the night for free!! Amazing night! So surprised it took me this long to finally go. I have meant to go for about 2 and a half years now. Great first time!!
One of the best meals I have had in a while. Everything we ordered was done to perfection. From start to finish: AMAZING. Our favorites so far are the spicy carrots, bacon wrapped dates, whipped feta (a must!) and the steak. The cocktails were awesome as well and they had a great wine and beer list. After the meal, our server gave us some complimentary pastries to go. Delicious! Overall a perfect experience.
fantastic except for the chanterelles which had way too much salt. Victor was able to eat it though. would like the recipe as I have them growing in my backyard
Always excellent , food, atmosphere and management (owner Michael) welcoming environment and one of our favorites
Delicious love your restaurant thank you
You have to have the whipped feta with pita and the stuffed dates. OMG!! came back just for those two appetizers. Kabobs were delicious.
Amazing food and service.
Feta dip with honey and pita
Tons of Rose
I took my wife here for her birthday dinner and the food was fantastic along with the atmosphere. We will definitely come back here again!
Fantastic tasting menu!
It was a little awkward when we arrived for our reservation. Both of the two restaurant staff people near the front door walked by us several times, completely ignoring us and offering no greeting or welcome. We were unsure of what to do, or where to stand....and felt very strange and unwelcome. It was not the usual reception you normally receive in a restaurant of this caliber - - especially in a "foodie" town like Charleston where the competition is fierce for diners. Note to manager: tell your people to at least say "hello" to new guests who arrive.
It also seemed a little odd that Rose' was the only wine selection on the menu. We assume that the wine menu must be seasonal, but not a great choice if you don't like Rose'.
The feta cheese appetizer (with fermented honey) was spectacular and we did enjoy our meal. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. We thought it was odd, however, that they didn't offer any dessert (not sure if this was server oversight or if they just don't offer dessert).
Because the food was good, I would recommend the restaurant to a friend. However, with all of the fine dining opportunities available in Charleston, we probably wouldn't go back.
Everything was so good, and the restaurant is beautiful! Definitely get the hummus or the whipped feta. The hummus was the best I’ve ever had! I had lamb tartar, which came on a bed of the whipped feta. I’ve never had anything like the whipped feta, and it was sooooo delicious with the tartar! Another must have are the grilled peaches. So beautiful, and the taste is incredible! My friend enjoyed the local lettuce salad, and I found the chilled corn soup refreshing and tasty. We finished the meal off with the panna cotta, and it was very good. Overall, a fantastic meal with excellent service as well. We highly recommend Butcher and Bee!
One of the best meals of our lives. We got the tasting - would highly recommend. Every bite was delicious
Food was great and atmosphere was nice.
Food is excellent and creative. Excellent value. May have been short a server as when the restaurant filed up, the staff seemed under pressure. But they were gracious and gave us free dessert that was unnecessary. Thank you!
Sat at the chefs table. Michael was great. Informative and entertaining. Cynthia was also wonderful. Took her time to engage with us. I appreciate that. Food was amazing. Live the middle-eastern influence and local, seasonal produce.
Great food. Ok service. Fresh as it gets. Great menu
The food was incredible, but the service was what impressed us the most! My husband said the steak he had at Butcher & Bee was the best he’d ever had. We’ve already been recommending it to friends!
This was our first time at the new location...my family and I recommend highly!
Excellent food! Although the phatty cakes were missing. The pastry chef that made them had moved on. Really wish she was still there! Missed having that for dessert!
B&B fit the perfect niche for meeting friends for a light dinner with a local atmosphere....and with no wait time. It's obvious that care is taken in constructing a menu with some local, seasonal favorites and in a creative way.
Good place to hang out with friends for a beer or wine and tapas style. Limited menu but food and service were good.
May be trendy and popular but was stuck at bad table with very average food that followed. Very disappointing!
Underwhelming on all counts. We were so looking forward to our dinner given the reviews and recommendations from others. Our server was indifferent and somewhat rude. The wine was warm and the clams were so salty, they were inedible. The mezze was the best part of our meal with very good falafel and grilled radishes.
We enjoyed our dinner at B&B, but it was a hike to get there. Relatively small menu but the flavors were great. The mezzie appetizers are fresh, innovative, and a tasty start to the meal. The fresh catch was deliciously prepared in a unique sweet potato curry sauce. The kebabs were well grilled and ample. The only ding, other than the distance, was the ambiance, particularly the seat cushions on the cloth booth seats were noticeably dirty. We would go again, however, as it’s worth the trip.
Loved this restaurant on our first visit. The food is creative and flavorful. The server was very knowledgeable and helpful in making recommendations. While not in the best of neighborhoods, it has a great vibe and was easily accessed by Uber. Definitely can recommend this restaurant and look forward to our next trip back.
Our first experience at Butcher and Bee was amazing. Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. I want to go back sooner than later for more bacon-wrapped dates, kale salad, and kebabs. Drinks, appetizers, dinner, and dessert were all really, really good. Parking was easy and the level of noise wasn’t too bad, although we did notice it getting louder as the evening went on. You should definitely go.
The food was amazing, but sadly our service was really subpar. We were seated without menus and had to wait nearly 6 minutes before our server stopped by for drink order (and to realize we didn't have anything to review!) Our food was delivered straight from the kitchen, so that came out very timely, but my husband's second beer never made it to our table (so we just finally asked the waiter to cancel). Once our check was delivered, our waiter once again was MIA to take it away, so we had to flag down another staff so we didn't run late to our event! Our dinner started at 5:30 and we didn't get out until 7:15...the restaurant was only about 50% full for most of the meal, so it was totally a service issue, not a kitchen issue.
Great food and service. Very accommodating
Amazing food, mix of Middle-eastern, locavore, and nouveau American cuisine. Flavors well balanced yet approachable for a more timid palate. My husband & I read a review in our local newspaper, Newsday Long Island, just after booking our trip. We will definitely dine there again. Bravo.
Food is overly spiced. Fresh local shrimp don’t need a forest fire of spice. Waiter was rather rude when I sent back my dinner and did t even ask if I would like something else. My husband ordered his fish medium rare and it arrrived well done. We paid our bill and left
It was nice to step out of historic, downtown Charleston to try this very cool place. The drinks were perfect and the flavors of everything were unexpected but right on. The food is super fresh and the overall ambience is equally refreshing and relaxed. I definitely recommend especially if you are looking for fresh, local ingredients.
Best meal we’ve had in years! The layers of flavors and textures were absolutely artistic. Funky, relaxed atmosphere and our attentive server charming. Have already recommended it several times and plan to go back next trip to Charleston🙂
Great service, and the food was amazing!
We allowed the chef to choose. Wonderfully creative food and more than we could eat! We will definitely come back.
Great fresh food!
