Food was amazing! The waygu appetizer on the hot stone was delicious. Bennett was awesome. He explained the menu and offered suggestions. We will definitely be back.
Great place for steaks, you have to try the Charleston S'mores.
This is gem amongst Charleston restaurants, we always have a great experience and highly recommend dining here.
Food isn't nearly as good as it used to be as the menu is much more limited. They were out of two bottles of wine that we ordered as well as a tequila we ordered. It took upwards of 15 minutes to get drinks and everyone's steak was undercooked (the mediums were medium rare and my medium rare steak was rare - bad). Service added insult to injury, we hardly saw our server and were interrupted when she finally came back around. I will not be going back for some time now.
I’m a huge fan of Burwells and try to eat there at least every two weeks although recently it’s more like once a month. But that should tell you all you need to know. My future father in law /major foodie was in town so I had to bring him. He was in town for 5 days and our goal was to eat at as many places as possible, and to no surprise, Burwells was his overall favorite.
This restaurant concept changed since this last time I dine here, which was disappointing. However, it still looked like a fun atmosphere with good steaks. Our server was fairly new, which led to most of our issues: lack of attentiveness and follow up. The entrees came out very quickly; too quickly because one of the steaks wasn't cooked correctly. The manager corrected the situation, but it made for a disappointing experience.
great food with great friends. The rooftop bar was also enjoyable as we got to the restaurant early..
Great food! Will definitely be back!
Our server Will was amazing! The ceviche and chocolate lava cake are a must.
Great service, wonderful atmosphere! Food was amazing
Outstanding service and exceptional meal. I've visited more than once and this time it was even better.
Food was great! Service from Meg was first-rate! I heartily recommend Burwell's for that special night out.
Pricey but amazing. We went to celebrate a birthday. We did the “hot rocks” thing, one with lamb, one steak. Both delicious but vervlittle actual food, makes a good appetizer or could be a meal for one. Fun to cook it on the hot lava rock.
After that we had or actual meal ( I had the filet mignon) and the steaks were total perfection with amazing sides.
The service was great as you would expect.
Desserts were delicious also.
Overall a bit pricey for an everyday meal but wonderful for any sort of special night. I would definitely recommend!
Great food and service.
Had a great experience. The building was buzzing with all the pressure from the SeWee event going on but servers and food was great.
Spending time with my son is always a treasure for me. The food was wonderful. Steak , salad drink all excellent.
We always enjoy the bar experience before the dinner. The bartenders are so friendly, enjoyable and personable.
My husband and I visited for the first time this past weekend. The food was good. However, our service was a little to be desired. We waited about 10 minutes for our waitress to come to the table. We had reservations and were sat right next to the hostess station and had to listen to them discuss where everyone would be sat. Meanwhile, there were many other open tables. Our server was very nice, but spent a lot of time chatting with other tables. She was rarely seen throughout the meal. It took about an hour to get our food after we ordered. We were understanding until other tables who arrived after us were served before us. Thankfully, the other servers stepped up and refilled our drinks. We most likely won’t return.
The service was excellent from the second we walked in the door. It was my wife's birthday and they made sure it was a pleasant evening for her. The food was very good. You have to try the hot stone appetizer. These are always just a neat experience. Overall very nice restaurant off the beaten path. Highly recommend.
We had a fabulous server who knew what he was talking about and genuinely loves his job. We had the Wagyu Hangar Steak and the Duck Confit Ragu pasta dish. We shared the Brussels Sprouts and Fries. For desert we had the Molten Chocolate Cake and it was AMAZING. It was worth every penny and we will return as soon as we can!
I went for Valentine's Day weekend amd everything was lovely. The steak was cooked to perfection the service was awesome. Romantic setting. You will definitely get your money worth.
This was our second time at Burwell’s and I always recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Charleston. The menu is diverse, great wine selection, great food. The staff is awesome. We will definitely go back.
The food was fantastic. Our waiter, Will, was personable and charming. He made recommendations that were great choices. Excellent experience. Thanks, Will!
Burwell’s is wonderful! Been there 5 or 6 times and love it every time. For the first time however, I was seated upstairs and I do not like it. Never want to be seated up there again. It lacks the warmth and charm of the downstairs and instead it is overly lit up and sterile. Food was great.
I went for Valentine’s Day & on their set menu they had waygu & me and my partner shared the sides Mac & cheese and loaded mashed potatoes. They waygu was great, though it may not have been as good as other waygu I’ve had. The mac & cheese was good for restaurant mac & cheese and the loaded mashed potatoes were perfect. I’m sure there food is better on a less busy day but I know other restaurants could have been crumbling under the weight of the crowd they had. - which you couldn’t even tell they had. Their intimate rooms have only a few tables so you forget you’re in a busy restaurant. The service was incredible & overall I can say I was happy to be there.
Had no idea that we were walking into what would become one of our new top 5 in Charleston! From the minute we walked in until we were on our way-every detail was impressive. Our server was above & beyond and the food was amazing. There are several other great steak restaurants around, but I’d say the atmosphere & location of Burwell’s makes them a step above.
Our server Will was fantastic!! We had a table by the window on Valentines Day. Server was very informative of the food and recommended the best steak that was his favorite. It was delicious. We will recommend to any friends who travel to Charleston!!
Was part of a large group that recently dined at Burwell's and we all enjoyed our meals. From the appetizers through the desserts everything was fantastic. Loved their She Crab soup and the 700-degree cooking stones were a big hit and enjoyed by everyone. The service and staff were excellent. Would absolutely dine here again and would highly recommend.
Super noisy. Steaks were a bit over cooked. We enjoyed the stonefire app. Short ribs and iceberg wedge were good. Steaks just didnt meet the Mark for the price
Not bad, but definitely not great steak dinner. Overpriced for what it was. No coffees on dessert menu. Service was very good. Ambiance nice.
Damn Fine Dining.
Great Service and outstanding food
We had early reservations and were worried because it was not busy. However the service, food and ambiance were perfect. It was a buzzing scene by the time we left. We were not disappointed.
Anniversary, service was excellent. Sone cooking for appetizer is a must
My ribeye was cooked perfectly, however, it just wasn’t a tender steak.
Our waitress was very knowledgeable and personable. We had a wine question on a bottle.she wasn't very familiar with so asked the manager to come speak nwith us. He was spot on, and we enjoyed everything. The s'mores are an absolute must have.
The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. I had the ribeye it was tender and too much for me to finish. My sides were the loaded smash potatoes and brussel sprouts. My man got the filet and couldn’t be happier. Teresa was our server and she was knowledgeable with everything on the menu and a sweetheart. Ask for her, you won’t be disappointed. In addition, t have to complement Don, the GM. What a charming and funny man. Our night was spectacular and we can’t thank you enough for the superb service and delicious meal.
Great evening with friends. Good food and pleasant waitstaff.
Food was so tasty! Our server was phenomenal and the manger was great he checked on us twice to make sure we enjoyed our time there and meals.
We go out to eat a lot and just don’t understand the ratings for this establishment. We had an 8:45 reservation and were not seated until 9:25. After being seated, we waited another 10 minutes for menus and then waited another 10 minutes for drinks. We did get our appetizers quickly but our entrees took forever. The filet was over cooked and instead of medium rare, was medium. Absolutely no seasoning on the steak. The macaroni and cheese was so runny. My friend’s chicken was so over cooked that it was not edible. They did comp our wine and my friend’s meal but with all of the restaurants in Charleston, we will try others. We had a better meals at all of the other restaurants and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone unless they enjoy, overcrowded, bad service with bland food.
Had 7:45 reservations and didn't get seated until 8:15. Would've been fine with just the two of us but when you add two tired kids to the mix, that half hour means a lot. Dinner was fantastic once we sat down. Steaks were done to perfection and the loaded smashed potatoes were excellent. Our daughter is the pickiest mac n cheese eater on the planet and she loved the mac n cheese side. It had a real unique cheese in it - couldn't quite put my finger on it. Waitress was terrific even though the restaurant was packed she never made us feel like a burden. They made a special creme brulee for our son who had a tournament that day. They really went over the top with their service. Would definitely go back but hopefully not so late and without kids. :)
