Burger & Beer Joint - South Beach - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
We just ate there 3 or 4 weeks ago and loved it. On Thursday we took a bunch on other people there and ended up very disappointed. It is no longer called "Burgers and Beer" because something happened with their franchiser (or so we were told) - and, in fact, when we were there it had NO name at all. The service was a mess and the food was not nearly as good. They were missing a number of menu items and condiments, which was frustrating, and my "premium" meat seemed like it was a frozen patty before it was put on my plate.
To reiterate - we pretty disappointed and probably won't be going back.
Ok- in a nutshell, food is great but the service is SOOOOOOoOOOO bad it's hard to decide if we can ever go back. It took way to long to bring menus. Then once we ordered, it took WAY to long to get the food. And it wasn't like the place was crowded. We were there EARLy.
That being said: I don't eat meat, so whenever I go, I get the ahi tuna tacos or the kale salad. Both are delicious. The truffle fries are also delicious. Milkshakes are some of the best on the beach. The guys all got the chicken burgers and they ate them all. Said they were great.
So if you can handle the wait, have it. Happy waiting!
This was the WORST dining experience I have ever had in the Miami Beach area. We were seated and had no server come to our table even for water in the first 15 minutes. We then asked the host to send someone over for her to ignore us and wait another 10 minutes. We finally decided to walk out and go to another place to find that no one even stopped us from leaving. It was almost comical how little they cared. Would recommend anywhere else in sunset harbor, even publix.
Despite of the reservation we had to wait 30 minutes - which is never a great start. We know B&B since 2009 and the new ownership has kinda made it " more of the same " it's quickly becoming just an average place to have a burger - without the thrill of feeling really appreciated....Beer served in plastic glasses is a killer for any beer lover...And the burgers are lots smaller than they used to be... Sufficient but no real reason to come back again and again or be really enthusiastic about to share with friends...Just okay
Service was great Andy saw us waiting for about 15 minutes and he came up to us asking if we've been helped, he gladly took our order.
The ahi tuna tacos were amazing!! However I ordered the 1/2 chicken burger on lettuce wrap, by the time I got my food the lettuce was fully cooked and I didn't realize I was getting ground chicken instead of chicken breast, the food was ok.. nice presentation but I didn't finish it bc I didn't enjoy the taste of my burger. Tip is already included, which it's ok bc he did a great job.
It is a shame the management is terrible - the burger was tasty and well assembled! Server got our order wrong, blamed the kitchen, food did not show up til 45 min after order BUT it was the entrees ... Apps never hit the table. AND IT was cold - so not sure what was going on. While we were explaining to the runner while he was delivering the food that we had not received our apps and to cancel them because we were so hungry , the manager interrupted and was like "OKAY OKAY - just put the food down and we will give you a locals discount" well, we are already locals and why are you barking at us? We weren't even visibly upset to the runner - it wasn't his fault ... Just horrible experience . Had to ask for everything after that - silverware, ketchup, sauces we ordered well before, napkins, more water, the check (twice) I mean - we don't trust our money there anymore until they get a better leader . Host (guy) was accommodating friendly and welcoming
One of the best burger's I've had. Our family of four had fried pickles to start - some of the best I've eaten. I had the Hotel California burger and my wife and daughters built their own burgers. Everyone raved about their burger. Love the idea of building a burger exactly as you want it. Good beer selection as well. In the South Beach area but not on the main strip so easier to get to.
This is a busy place that’s full to the rafters so id definitely recommend booking. We booked for 9pm but when we arrived there was already a throng of people waiting for tables and no immediate sign of tables leaving. I made it known we had a reservation for 9pm and despite it being after 9pm, walk in’s were being seated before us which is a little frustrating. It felt as if, if I didn’t make myself known to the reception, we could have quite easily got lost in the crowd. Word of warning, it’s very cold in the restaurant. They have really crude air con ducting that has massive outlets blasting cold air into the restaurant. If your unfortunate enough to be seated underneath one, be sure to wear a shirt and jeans. It’s cold. I mentioned this and the server told me its regularly mentioned to the manager but no changes are made. It is uncomfortably cold so you’ve been warned.
We had a really nice waitress who was very smiley and helpful. We ordered a portion of Onion Rings as an appetizer. We were mindful that our burgers were going to be huge and we didn’t want to spoil our appetites. The Onion rings were the best I’ve ever had and super delicious, hot and freshly cooked. 10/10. We all had burgers which you get to choose the type of meat, size, cheese, toppings and even the bun. They were delicious. Absolutely outstanding and again our waitress was very helpful and my daughters didn’t want certain items in the burger and my wife wanted the bacon really crispy none of which was an issue.
Overall the food was superb if you like burgers and chips and just what I would expect an American burger restaurant to be like. The portions are large but not ridiculous as are the prices. As with all restaurants we visited in Miami, they auto add on a tip which was between 18% to 20% . Another note is to ask your server to stager your food between appetiser and main course. It didn’t happen to us in this restaurant but it seems quite normal
