Burger and Barrel Ratings and Reviews
We had a group of 8 to celebrate my teenage sons birthday. Our waiter was attentive, knew the menu well, and kept us all happy. we all were pleased with our food and my 20 year old son even said his burger was one of the best he has ever had!
The burgers and cocktails were good. However, the service was terrible. It took us 30 minutes to get seated despite there being an open table. When we asked the hostess if we could sit there, she said no and it later turned out that she was reserving the table for some of her friends who arrived a full hour after our reservation. It took 20 minutes to get drinks and in general we had to put a lot of effort in getting the wait staff to come to our table.
Just a Sunday night date with girlfriend. We had been in once before and had a nice time so we went back. Our waiter was the same guy, he remembered us and he was fantastic. We took all of his suggestions as we did last time, they were awesome. Apparently they offer 1/2 pints of beer and 1/2 glasses of wine, not on the menu, but an excellent way to sneak in a little more. Really enjoy this place and the staff is really great.
Saw the restaurant on tv and the food definitely did not disappoint.
The medium cooked burger with the bacon jam was amazing.
The 1 issue i have is we booked for 830 and didnt get a seat until 9pm. Only a small issue but something to pick out all the same.
Very good place with great food
How does this happen? We've been here over a dozen times (fave brunch spot) and have NEVER been so disappointed with our experience, ever. We wont be back. Our server was DRUNK. We visited Burger & Barrel for a quiet birthday dinner for my wife. When we arrived for dinner, the hostess (Sarah, we think) was lovely and gracious. We thought the rest of our experience would be the same (as it has been in the past). WOW! Were we wrong. Our server (dylan w. - name on our receipt) was a NIGHTMARE. He smelled so bad of alcohol and was clearly annoyed with questions and being asked to repeat specials. My wife did not care for her cocktail as she ordered it without spicy tequila and he told us "that's how it's made", even though we asked for it without spicy tequila. It was still on the bill when we got our check. No candle in my wife's chocolate cake even though I asked him for one when my wife excused herself to use the ladies room. The most shocking part of our experience was when my wife was waiting for the restroom to become available and she overheard our server telling a colleague that he was "over it, didn't care and needed a drink or something "stronger". Thanks for RUINING my wife's birthday. Memorable experience to say the least. And this experience was the LEAST!!!
We had an amazing time. The food was great. I had a BMC burger and took our waiters suggestion to add bacon, egg, and avocado. My wife had the chicken and our server suggested getting the Brussels as a side. All in all it was P E R F E C T! On a side note, our server, Eddie, made our night. He was accommodating , made great suggestions and REALLY knew his stuff. We will be back very soon. Can't wait to try brunch. Thanks Eddie and B & B!
Inside vibe was pretty cool. Nice bar, good music. We showed up right as they were opening and got off to a rocky start as they hadn't received their delivery of beef so no burgers.... Not horrible as we weren't in a hurry and waiter was very apologetic about. Got a couple bloody Mary's which were tasty but could have used a bit more vodka at $14.00 a piece. Ordered a couple of apps to kill time waiting for the beef delivery. One was the ricotta dip which was tasty but very small for the price, and ordered a side of rosemary tots which I can't comment on because they never came. Finally we were advised the beef had made it and we ordered a bash burger and another one that was dry aged of which the name I don't recall. Both were cooked as ordered and both were tasty in their own right. We both preferred the bash burger which had a nice onion jam on it. We got the check and $150.00 later we were done. No mention of a comp on any of the drinks or the one app for the delay of beef at the burger joint but hey I guess not everyone thinks the way we do. All in all cool place but a bit pricey I'd say for what it is.
Burger was outstanding! We ended up splitting it because we wanted to sample other dishes like the chicken lollipop wings (which were mediocre) but the burger was amazing! I'd highly recommend the Batch award winning burger and almost wish there was a refill on burgers. Not splitting it the next time we come to NY!
honestly this place is quite a bit overrated as it's almost lifeless. it's on the fringe of SOHO and makes no effort to draw anyone in. the five of us really did enjoy the food, that's it's redeeming quality. bar food impeccably prepared, perfect burgers, omelettes that are light, buttery and expertly matched with what you want to feel and taste. the bar on the other hand is simply so "...this is what they drink in red states...." so wish i could recommend but in NY, in SOHO we need a bit more than perfect food. sorry.
The server was very good, but unfortunately the burgers were dropping in grease along with the fries, tater tots, and Brussels sprouts. I've been here a few other times in the past few years and this place has gone WAY downhill! I brought my boyfriend here for an amazing burger, now the joke is this wine the award for being the greasiest. I had to wash my haves twice from the grease!!!
We happened to be in town and are a bit on the "Foodie"-type of people. We checked out what was in the area and conveniently we were in the mood for a good burger, so, of course we chose B & B due to their award winning burger(s). Conveniently we stopped in on Wine Wednesday and caught a flight of wines we had not experienced yet. Our burgers were great, fries and onion rings are crispy and just AWESOME. The music was sweet and the atmosphere itself, especially on a cold, wintery night, made us feel quite cozy. I would recommend this as a stop for those looking to wind or "wine" down with a nice burger and glass of wine.
For me, the noise level was so insanely over the top that it outweighed all of the positives, which otherwise are many. The music was blasted at such a high volume, in every square inch of the place, that you can barely carry on a conversation. And because the music is so loud, everyone talks extra loud to hear each other, all making for (in my opinion) a most unpleasant dining experience. For this reason alone, unfortunately, I would not go back.
Over attentive water refilling service
Waiter only had two meals to remember but managed to forget our starter .... he seemed very preoccupied and vacant.
It was VERY noisy despite not being full and only 6pm
Apart from that. Yes a good burger. But wouldn't rush back
