Burger and Barrel Ratings and Reviews
My business guest was a bit late to lunch and so my waitress gave me a complementary appetizer while I waited. The burgers were well-cooked, the wine was a winner and even the tater tots were memorably good. If I'm in the neighborhood again I'll definitely take another business contact for a casual lunch.
I took my boyfriend here for burgers based off of friends' recommendations and did not disappoint. I didn't mention in my reservation that it was my boyfriend's birthday, but when I mentioned it to the waiter he quicking brought out some ice cream with a candle on top as a surprise. We appreciated it very much and would definitely come again.
The server was horrible. I asked for an iced tea with lemon. It took 10 minutes to get it and she didn't bring lemon. I waited and waited for her to return and when she didn't I asked the hostess for lemon and sweetener. the hostess brought the lemon but said the server would bring sweetener. I did not have everything for my drink for more than 30 minute and the people with me had still not been asked if they wanted anything. I ordered a burget with the sauce on the side and the sauce came on the burger. I didnt bother to send it back because it was impossible to get her attention. And it wasn't very crowded. It was as if she was in a fog. I overheard the table next to us ask her if the restaurant had anything they were known for. She said No!! ( given that the name has the word Burger in it, you think she could have at least come up with that!!
Went on a Saturday night for a double date - two pregnant women :) The food was great. I had the mash burger which was delic, winner all around. My husband had the 40-year aged BMC, which was a miss for him, but a hit for our friend. I tried it as well and didn't like it, so def an acquired taste. The appetizer shrimp was yum, great for sharing, 4 pieces. Appetizer kale salad was great too, but a little small for sharing, good for one person as an app. Ambiance was great for a burger place, lively but not crazy. Service was good until the end when the waitress was frazzled and charged one of our cards double, but fixed it right away. Overall, great experience and would go back for a nice, casual carnivore-infused dinner.
Great food. But the table was so poorly lit that we had to use our cellphones flashlight to be able to read the meny. When asked about it the waitress just shrugged. The service was uninterested at best. The beers on tap kind of uninspiring but the coctails and wine was great.
Been here before and took friends from out of town here for a casual dinner. The food and drink were great. We all had variations on the burgers , each was terrific. I had the truffle burger and fries. It was beyond delicious! Cooked to perfection! A place to go for a less formal meal and drinks.
Food was excellent. Overall experience was fine. Service was ok. Only the hostess/person at front desk would have been a little warm and inviting towards the incoming guests the experience would have been better, the person was noticeably cold and not even a hint of a smile.
Came with a friend for dinner. Excellent burgers, good beer selection. Service was fine. We enjoyed the ambiance and the menu had a lot of great sounding options. We could hear each other to converse even though it was full, which was important to us. Expensive for a burger but not surprising to us.
The lunch special is a great deal for NYC. $25 for a salad and a burger (or other entree of your choice). The veggie burger was incredible, homemade with a special breaded crust, yum! I will definitely visit this spot again. The wine glass prices are also very reasonable if you aren't looking to spend over the top SoHo prices.
