Buona Vita Ratings and Reviews
This was our first time at Buona Vita and we all had a wonderful dinner. It was restaurant week so the prices were well below what we would have spent. There were two larger groups in the restaurant so the noise level was louder than we would have liked. All-in-all, a wonderful evening and a restaurant we will go to again.
This was Resturant Week in Somers Point NJ, all pre fix menu on the menu that we ordered from said $25.05 pp when we received the bill it was $27.22 pp I challenged it the waiter handed me a promo brochure indicating $27.22 pp and that the menue we ordered from was last years NOT GOOD BUSINESS
Restaurant week dinner was very good. We got the spaghetti entree, with Caesar salad. Service from Chris was excellent. A few things fgor future. No salt/peppers on table and had to ask for grated cheese for our entree. The cheese was served in what seemed to be a coffee cup. Lastly, the portion sizes seemed small in comparison to full menu entrees next to us, as well as the dessert. Other desserts were full size, tiramisu, ours was half the size. I may go back, but the noise level was very high as noted by many other reviews.
Such a great spot! They sat us outside on the second patio with a fantastic view of the bay. The owner, Raphael sat at an open table next to us. Perfect night for it in October.
I thoroughly enjoyed my homemade pasta Bolognese and my girlfriend loved the lasagna! We shared a creme brulee dessert with cappuccinos! Awesome spot, we will be back
Our dining experience was absolutely OUTSTANDING!! From the service to the food to the ambience, I can't say enough fabulous things about Buona Vita!! My new favorite place to dine without a doubt!! I will never visit Ocean City, New Jersey againwithout making making reservations at Buona Vita!!!
Well decorated and very comfortable interior. A bit noisy on a crowded Saturday night. Service is friendly, professional and prompt. The grilled calamari was very good. The caprese salad was good, although unfortunately it's not the best season for stellar tomatoes and it showed. Both our entrees were spot on- osso bucco and Bronzino. BYOB is a real plus.
Disappointing. There was no hostess to receive reservations. At least a dozen parties waiting for their reservation on a Saturday night. One waiter was unapologetic and rude another embarrassed and frustrated. The dinner was delicious although our hot appetizer was cold. Our waitress was not attentive enough to warrant a $75 pp meal. I might give it another chance on a weekday, but it won’t be anytime soon.
The food was very good but a little pricy very loud. acoustics not very good for intimate conversations. It's seems to be a hot spot and therefore it may take a little longer to get your meal. I've never been to an Italian restaurant where they don't have meatballs (not even as a side). I'm Italian so I'm very particular about the sauce/gravy. It was very good. We made reservations on open table and we were seated on time but a lot of people were disturbed because they double booked and couldn't accommodate
My wife had a fish dish covered with crab meat and an unappealing yellow sauce. Wasn't sure what it was. Bland. My Bolognese pasta dish was average. Nothing special about except it was "slow simmered" which implies it was tastie. Gotta start with proper ingredients for that.
Dinner out with my Beautiful wife.
Was seated right away outside as it was a beautiful September night. Service was very fast and so was the food! Had Egg Plant as appetizer, My wife had the veal and I had the Osobuco. Best Osobuco I have ever had! The veal was huge, enough for two. If I had a message to send it would be to the kitchen, Food is great but presentation is lacking. Don't forget this is BYOB. Cheers!
Great food. A bit on the pricey side for the specials but they were awesome. The specials we had were very creative and delicious. We came here the second night in a row. We were there on Friday night and it was a lot less crowded and therefore more attentive by the staff. Saturday night was a long wait for our meal. It seemed they overbooked. We had to wait about 10 minutes past our reservation time. We sat outside on Saturday night and the weather was beautiful and the patio atmosphere was relaxing. We opted for outside because inside was a bit noisy and crowded. They had the same specials on Saturday night that they did on Friday night but that just gave my husband and me a chance to have the opposite special.
We have dined at Buona Vita 3 or 4 times in the past year, and every time has been very enjoyable. The restaurant is BYO and in a former house, with dining on the first and second floors, a few tables for 2 on the porches, and tables on a covered patio. The furnishings are elegant and simple; the waitstaff is pleasant and knowledgeable. On previous occasions we've eaten inside, but this last time it was a pleasant late September evening and we chose the outdoor patio. Onto the food, the most important part. Every meal we've had here has been delicious, with the food cooked to perfection and served steaming hot - it clearly is never sitting under a heat lamp waiting to be served. In the past we've had the branzino special, the lobster ravioli and a couple of veal dishes, all delicious. This time we shared the fried calamari, tender, crispy with a spicy marinara sauce. One entree was the Fettucini Buona Vita, spinach fettucini served with jumbo lump crab and a light and tasty white wine sauce. Normally I don't like fettuccini because it tends to be heavy, but this was light as a feather and the lumps of crab were truly jumbo. The other entree was Veal Carciofi with artichokes, mushrooms and a white wine lemon caper sauce. The veal was fork tender and delicious. For dessert we shared the tiramisu which was heavenly. Needless to say, I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to our next visit.
Wonderful experience. We sat in the back courtyard and it was very nice. Service was great, we were seated right away, and our waitress was very attentive. We had the eggplant appetizer, my husband had the veal parm, I had bronzino, and we shared the cannoli. Everything was very good and nice size portions. We had a great experience and will definitely return.
This restaurant was described as a quiet upscale Italian restaurant in Somers Point. What a disappointment. It was undoubtedly one of the loudest restaurants I have ever frequented. We were actually in and out of the restaurant in 30 minutes, not quite what one would expect while dining out. The food was adequate but far from good Italian food. We live 50 miles from the Italian sector of Philadelphia and yet we drive there for dinner because the food is so good in many of the restaurants. The chef needs to visit some of these Italian restaurants in South Phila. to learn what classic, tasty and light, good Italian food is.
First off, the hostess greeted us and was very accommodating as we asked for outside seating and went out of her way to please us. Secondly our server was very k knowledgeable and friendly and lastly, the food was outstanding! Look forward to another visit soon. One note, it seemed very loud inside, not sure if they have an acoustical ceiling or walls; probably wouldn't hurt!
Immediately upon arriving we were greeted and offered to sit downstairs upstairs or on the upper porch. We chose the upper porch which had a wonderful view of the bay in Somers point in the street below. Chris was our waiter, who is very attentive and we would highly recommend. Pasta dishes were clearly homemade and absolutely delicious. We enjoyed the lobster ravioli special as well as the fettuccine Alfredo. Highly recommend the experience and we will definitely return.
