Buona Sera Ratings and Reviews
The food was mediocre they use way too much sauce the crowd can be loud and noisy and disruptive if you're trying to be on a date I showed up for my reservation five minutes early and didn't get set at my table for another half hour was extremely disappointed with the service wine list is not accurate
I made our Valentine's Day reservation 3 weeks in advance with very high expectations based on our last experience there. However, the Riesling we were hoping for was no longer available, nor was the dish I wanted for dinner---out for the evening. The unfortunate thing was that the server did not mention that when I placed my order. So I finally decided upon another dish, which was to have included a salad or soup. Again, our server did not mention a "Caesar" salad would be an additional charge, not much, but was not expecting to pay additionally for them, (just saw the charges on the tab) as my SO and I both ordered one with our entrée. May seem like minor things---but all tolled--not the dining experience we were hoping for.
We have been to Buona Sera many times and the food is amazing. Our service, however, this time wasn't great. It won't deter us from returning, but if it happens again, and for the price you pay for food, our expectation is excellent service. If it happens again, we may not return.
I had heard so many good things about the restaurant. Service was excellent. I found the food to be OK - not as good as what I had been told. I am not a food snob, but considering price and value, a bit of a let down. Went to a different restaurant the following evening and got better Italian food at half the price (my wife agreed), which probably skewed my perspective a little regarding my Buona Sara experience. I will probably give it another try in the future hoping that I caught them on an off night.
This is a quiet, intimate place. Small enough to feel cozy but there are 2 dining rooms so it seats more than it first appears. I had the shrimp scampi with a side of pasta that it offers as a choice. It also came with fresh vegetables, unusual nowadays. The shrimp were large and swimming in a garlic butter sauce. My husband had Spaghetti del Pescatori which was good but the “complemented with a light touch of tomato sauce” turned out to be more like a soup than a sauce. We had the Molten Lava Cake with vanilla ice cream for desert which would be plenty for one person but was just right for us to share. We would definitely return.
Buona Sera is always top notch. This time we celebrated my birthday with a spinach dip appetizer (absolutely fantastic!) and sumptuous entrees. Topped off with the hot lava chocolate cake.
The Southern Comfort Manhattan before dinner was magnificent! We come as often as we can.
One of the best Italian restaurants outside Italy!!! Quaint interior, friendly and helpful staff, excellent food and excellent wines. It's so enjoyable to go out for a nice dinner with your spouse and be able to enjoy quiet conversation at the table without screaming sports on tv screens and noisy bar. In fact, the only tv screen will be the one showing tours of Italy...so cool!
Excellant food. Very compact space and the table seem very cramped. Loud and you feel like you are part of your neighbors' conversations. The pours are small for the price. Call ahead and ask what their corkage fee is. Saw a lot of groups bringing their own wine.
I'm giving 4.5 out of 5. Two things were not excellent. The Butternut Squash was mediocre in taste while also overpriced. Our other 3 entrees were outstanding and priced fairly. Also, service was okay and nothing more. I had superb service on my previous 2 visits.
Made reservations to treat the family to a New Year's dinner and was so disappointed. The food was just ok, nothing special and over priced. It is too tight and you could hear everyone's conversations. Even though you are in our neighborhood, we just can't see going back to support you.
