Buona Sera Ratings and Reviews
Second time here. Everything was okay except that my steak shouldn't have even been put on the grill. I ordered the sirloin strip and it was full of fat and tough. Due to the graciousness of our waiter, the steak was removed from our bill. That made our dining a bit more "tasteful."
Small cozy restaurant with top notch food and service. Excellent wine selection. We had pecan crusted salmon, lasagna and pork medallions. All were absolutely delicious. And the tiramisu, salted caramel gelato, tiramisu gelato and cheesecake topped off the night. We'll be back!
The friendliest, coziest little place I've ever been to in the Twin Cities. I've lived here for 20 years and somehow never stopped here. Maybe because I normally don't like Italian food, but this place could change that. I owed my little girl a special night out, so we decided to give this place a try. Amazing food, and a staff that acted like they were all family (which I think they are). Happy customers who were treated like special houseguests. What a gem of a place.
We go to Bueno Sera every couple of years. We’ve always been wowed by the food. Several years ago I had the Salmone Al Cartoccio and it was wonderful. This past week I had it for the 3rd time and, either my tastes have changed over the years or the preparation has changed. It was like salmon and vegetable soup. My guest had the squash ravioli and she thought it tasted like frozen ravioli. I took a bite of the ravioli and also was underwhelmed. My other guest had the pork medallions and said it was good.
When you live in the suburbs and want to go to a restaurant, your choices are limited to mostly "chain" operations. Many are pretty good, but it's rare to find GREAT. It's even more rare to find an independent privately owned nice GREAT restaurant, but that's what Buona Sera is.
Great food, lots of choices, unique specials, diverse Italian wines, great service...what's not to like?
I've taken New York Italians here, and they GUSH over it every time! You will too!
Reservations necessary, especially Friday through Sunday.
Buona Serra is a true Italian restaurant. The food is as good as one would find in Chicago or New York @ half the price. I had a veal Porterhouse that tasted like I was back in Florence. The appetizer was muscles in a tomato broth that I sopped up with fresh baked bread. This is a must eat at place. Be sure to have a reservation; it was filled on a Wednesday.
Have been here several times over the past couple of years. It gets busy on weekends even with a reservation, but if you are OK with a little wait and noise you will not be disappointed by the food. They have a number of specials every night and they all have been excellent. We love not going to chains as local places are just a better dining experience. This is one of those places.
You will never walk away from here unsatisfied. Authentic Italian cuisine and some other favorites, plus a full bar and wine list, this is, hands down, the best Italian fine dining in the North Metro and arguably in the city. Small and intimate, you must get a reservation. Service is excellent, and the food is truly great.
Always excellent. Reliable. This place is our go-to place for having great food and great service at a great price. We go there 8 to 10 times per year.
Recommendations: Go with an empty stomach. Be prepared to take some home.
Service is always outstanding. Whether your server is Scott or Erin or someone else you'll be treated well.
Very quiet place tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. Parking is limited, but because it's such a small place, they really don't need that much parking. The food was very good and the service was outstanding. The menu has something for everyone. My only minor complaint is that the building could use a bit of maintenance. For example, the men's room had some repair done on the ceiling and it was never repainted. Minor, but it takes away from the charm a bit.
My wife and I never get tired of eating at Buona Sera, and this visit was just another confirmation. We have both spent a lot of time in Italy, so we have a very good idea of what quality, authentic Italian food should taste like. Buona Sera delivers every time. You will find high quality meats and fish dishes accented with deliciously spiced sauces and a wide variety of pastas that will make you wish your meal would never end. We're not wine drinkers, so I can't comment on that except to say that the wine list is pretty extensive. Perhaps the best item on the menu is Buona Sera's tiramisu. We have struggled to fini"?:
d authentic Italian tiramisu in the U.S. It's either too "soupy," too much Marsala, too much coffee, or all of the above. The Buona Sera tiramisu is a perfect balance of texture and flavors, so each bite is truly a unique food experience.
We also love the quaint, homey feeling of the restaurant and was just commenting to my wife how quiet it is in spite of its size. This is a great place to eat, and you will not be sorry!
The food was good, but the service speed is very, very slow. We waited over 20 minutes for our appetizer, then another 30 minutes AFTER we finished our appetizer for our entrees. From the time we arrived, it's over an hour before we received our entrees which was incredibly disappointing.
The food was good, but by the time it arrived we were very frustrated.
To add to this, we also ordered the "Chocolate Lava Cake" for dessert, but there was no "Lava" We called our waitress over and mentioned it to her and her response was, "That's weird. I'll let them know."
She was not apologetic or offer an alternative and we were left to eat a dry chocolate cake. Needless to say, we did not eat it and left the restaurant right away (after being there almost two hours on our date night with no kids)
