Buona Sera Ratings and Reviews
Love this place! The food is delicious, the ambiance is cozy and romantic. Our server, Kim, was friendly and attentive. Spouse enjoyed an entrée of veal marsala while I selected a delicious rendition of pork medallions (one of the evening's five specials). Both were accompanied by bread with flavored butter, a cup of excellent seafood chowder, and a side of pasta in their scrumptious house tomato sauce. Portions were generous. We had to pass on dessert, but lingered while finishing our glasses of very mellow Chianti and Pinot Grigio.
We went to celebrate my husband's birthday. We were greeted and seated promptly in a nice booth. Our server, Scott, was excellent! He made both wine and food suggestions for us and they were perfect. We had Conundrum red blend wine. It was very good. We tried the walleye cakes for an appetizer. They were delicious. We had the veal chop and the steak cacciatore. Both were very tasty. The presentations were beautiful! Finally, we shared a tiramisu. It was the perfect ending for the meal!
This place is quaint but vibrant. The food is always amazing, service is always great. You can come here and have an affordable meal or splurge and still enjoy the great ambience. Even if you splurge it doesn't have to be terribly over priced. Great value for the price you pay.
The food was ok this time, not great. Way too much parmesan in the fett Alfredo, tough strip steak and the bruschetta wasn't very flavorful. Waitress wasn't on her game (couldn't remember which salad had which dressing, added pepper without asking, forgot to bring more water). Asked if it was a special occasion when we came in, it was, but they don't do anything special at all. For the price I would really have to think hard before going there again.
Typically we order Italian and are very pleased with our delicious entrees. This visit however we were disappointed. We took our neighbors out to celebrate a birthday. Since he appreciates a good steak and our previous server highly recommended the steak, we both ordered the New York Strip. When the menu lists it at "Market Price", you have the expectation it will be exceptional. It wasn't. Mine was mediocre and his was full of gristle. I notified the server and upon her return, she said we could have one birthday dessert on the house. While I would readily recommend the Italian dishes, I cannot do so for the steak.
Buona Sera is one of the very best Italian Ristorante's around!!! The small cozy atmosphere is like you've been invited to someone's home for dinner. The wine selection is wonderful, the wait staff is genuinely friendly, the food is beyond words! My husband had the carbonara the other night and it, honest to God, was better than any I'd had in Italy!! I had the halibut and that was SO beyond words...absolutely delicious! Highly advisable to secure reservations for dinner. Kudos to Raffaele and staff!
I have dined here many times when I come to Minnesota. The food has always been great and the service is very friendly. If you are coming for dinner on the weekends I would highly recommend making reservations. You can do that on Open Table. I would definitely recommend this place.
This was our first visit to this restaurant, but won't be our last. The four of us ordered a variety of menu items--the lobster ravioli, seafood chowder and pork medallions were especially great. This restaurant is a good value, with soup or salad, vegetables, and a pasta (or other choice) side is included in the price. Loved the Italian scenes painted on the walls, lovely ambiance. Tonya the waitress was great!
