First time visiting, but it won’t be our last! Every table was full when we got there, and it took a half hour past our reservation time to get us seated, but sitting at the bar having a drink & chatting with the bartender along with another patron made the wait bearable.
Service was great and so was the food. Busy, busy day for them and they had run out of several items. The owner stopped by to make sure everything was ok, and he sent over 2 complimentary desserts!
Great place, we’ll be back!
I ordered the lobster ravioli "special". Didn't taste lobster and the scallops and shrimp were apallingly tiny, barely dime size. For what they charged, and advertised to be an evening special, I would have sent it back except I was treating a girlfriend to her birthday and didn't want to make a scene. In fairness, her pork medallions were way better than my meal and the walleye cake appetizer and tomato basil soup were good, although everything seemed heavy-handed on the salt.
The place has gotten way too crowded. We felt really crammed in there. From the parking lot, to the bar, to the waiting area...TOO SMALL!! Our table was at the intersection of the kitchen and the bathroom hall; not too appetizing seeing people coming in and out of the bathroom during my meal.
Last time I came here, our party waited an hour for a table (WITH a reservation!) because a table that had finished eating would not leave for an eternity. Not entirely Buona's fault, but it was not handled gracefully. We ended up leaving and going elsewhere.
I really wanted to like this place and have a destination that wasn't a chain up in this area, but I think I've finally given up on them after several visits. Too many disappointments.
Buono Sera is totally a winner. Great service, broad menu and exceptional specials. We all enjoyed Buono Sera and had a wide variety of meals, all of which were great! Chicken Saltimboca, shrimp Scampi, Lobster Ravioli and Glazed Salmon - and everybody raved about their meal. It’s small though so you’d better have a reservation.
Birthday. They didn’t do much to make the the Birthday experience exciting. Oh well. All else was great.
Another great evening for dinner at Buona Sera. John was impeccable as always and appreciate his service, attention and timely delivery of our menu platters. Great to be back!
Food and service were excellent. Steak was cooked perfectly, and the salmon was seasoned great, and the veggies with the meal were crisp and tasty. Waiter explained all the specials and was helpful in choosing a bottle of wine. Will definitely go back.
Excellent food! Our server, Scott, was exceptional. He took amazing care of us and those at other tables. Great wines.
AMAZING FOOD AND SERVICE!
Thank you for making this neighborhood gem a great hidden treasure.
Always delicious with a great variety of meals to choose from.
Best pork medallions I have had in a long time. Melt in your mouth. Mushrooms, olives, and very tender pork. Will order again. Bruschetta, tomato basil soup all delicious.
My kids and I love Buona Sera. Service is always genuinely friendly and welcoming. Great cozy ambience and the food is beyond outstanding. We have enjoyed the walleye cakes as an appetizer on a couple occasions , when they were on special. The cakes are exceptional, but, the accompanying topping and sauce set them apart from others. This week I enjoyed the veal porterhouse steak, which was a beautiful thick cut that was prepared perfectly with a house blend of seasonings that was out of this world. It topped my favorite Montana steakhouses for preparation and flavor. My pasta accompaniment was fettuccini Alfredo which was by far the best I've had anywhere. My son says the chicken Marsala here, is the only chicken Marsala he's had which is as good or better than mine and I certainly agree. This is one of the few special places that I know, when eating out, I'll get a meal better than what I can prepare at home. If you're looking for a special, unique place for a special occasion......this is a great choice. If you're looking for a place to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine....this is it. If you're looking for a place to enjoy a meal prepared with skill and a passion for perfection.....this is it. And I didn't touch on the desserts. I'll just say wow, take your pick, you can't go wrong. And you won't leave hungry, my leftovers covered another meal at home. This is a special gem tucked away in a Champlin neighborhood. I can't recommend it highly enough . Buon Appetito!!
It was a fabulous evening. Food was exceptional. Wait staff made us feel like we were the only table in the restaurant.
Excellent food, service and ambiance. The only negative is that only one person can use the bathroom.
I had great hopes for this restaurant, especially given Mr.Virgillo's experience with Bellisios in Duluth. Unfortunately, these restaurants are not at all compatible.
There are no real selections for wine by the glass beyond house wines, and no exceptional selections by the bottle. They were completely out of Tanqueray for a pre-dinner cocktail at an early Friday night seating (must have been a wild Thursday!).
The starter bread was tough, as if it had been frozen and microwaved to serving temp. The sauces for the Tortellini al Boscaiola and Penne Arrabiata were unremarkable, as were the soup and salad. Both pastas we're served considerably past al dente. The appetizer dip was about chain restaurant quality.
Service staff were the high point - very attentive and friendly. But at over $100 with tip for two, there are simply too many better options. I'm sorry to say it because I really hoped for a home run here, but I probably won't return.
The wait staff was excellent. We love the guy waiter too when we come in but we had a nice younger waitress who knew a lot.
The service and food were impeccable. My kids are still talking about it 3 days later. We will definitely go back.
Love coming to Buona Sera. We go a few times a year.
Food was very good as usual, Love the lobster ravioli, to die for. They had a mussel special for appetizer and I love mussels so we ordered it and it was nasty, I thought it tasted muddy and my date said he thought it taste like a minnow bucket, our waiter took them back and removed them from our bill. Only problem we had was we paid with cash and our waitress took our payment, she never asked if we wanted change back but of course we did as we had not intended on giving her a 30% tip, but I guess we did as we waited for 15 minutes for our change and she never returned. So other then that we love this place.
Food and Service was fantastic however they didn’t read the notes regarding my Aunt’s 87th Birthday which was a little disappointing.
Awesome as usual!
Great food, service and atmosphere! Never had a bad experience. Can’t wait to go back
We've been meaning to try this place for a long time. I am glad we finally did. Brent was an awesome waiter we would ask fro him again. if you've been meaning to try a nice quiet place with a good atmosphere for dinner, this is the place. A true hidden gem in the northern suburbs;
Fantastic food with great ambiance and the waitress is totally knowledgeable of specials including wine. Thank you!
Had an excellent birthday meal. Great staff, great food!
Great food and top notch service. Highly recommended.
Great service with a smile, a bit of conversation and humor. Owner even followed up with asking what we had, how was it, and some background on our food choices.
The manicotti was great. Calamari was good. Dessert was good the cookie. The veal marsala was like a piece of charcoal. You supposed to pound the veal down. Unfortunately this feel was as thick as filet mignon. Tough like a beef jerky. That's why they only get a three
I enjoy the ambiance and friendly service most of all. I find the special menu items to be fresh and always a good selection of appetizers and entrees. Most of their pasta dishes I find very good. I have often found the menu items mediocre so I pretty much stick to the "specials". I do like the basic red sauce and pasta which I usually get as a side dish with my entree at no charge!
Not so good. Spaghetti and meatballs were bland. Veal T Bone was small and over done. Was a loud group next to us again. Not a good value, bland food and noisy.
Food is always great here, been here 2 dozen times in the past 5 years. SERVICE is where it had been lacking in the past couple years. Last week we got seated and must have been wearing our invisible clothing. We sat there for 15 minutes without anyone coming to our table. Then we ordered our meal, and AFTER I had ordered my meal, just before food was brought out, they said they were out of baked potatoes, which I had ordered. French fries or pasta was offered instead. I had ordered the fillet mignon, I like a baked potato with it.
Love it!! Always awesome!! Rafael and the team never disappoint! And we found a new favorite wine!!
Food was ok, service was very good. Vegetables with dinner seemed like they were frozen from the grocery store. Had the surf and turf, would not recommend the steak. Shrimp was excellent.
We have been to this great place before and so enjoy everything especially the food. We had a mishap this time and there was a big plastic thing in my husbands pasta. We were stunned, and didn't finish our meals. The server Scott was very kind and so apologized. The owner came over and he apologized too. They were so sweet and did not charge us for our Meals. We so appreciated that they were so kind. When the time is right we will make a date and try out this fantastic place again.
Always fun to dine here. Great food at a great value. Hidden gem
Not impressed with quality for the price. Table was next to drafty door that would not shut. Will not be back
The food was mediocre they use way too much sauce the crowd can be loud and noisy and disruptive if you're trying to be on a date I showed up for my reservation five minutes early and didn't get set at my table for another half hour was extremely disappointed with the service wine list is not accurate
As always, the food and service were beyond compare. We were there this time for Valentine's Day and still received the same great food and service. We have had our server, Brent, several times before. He is amazing!
I made our Valentine's Day reservation 3 weeks in advance with very high expectations based on our last experience there. However, the Riesling we were hoping for was no longer available, nor was the dish I wanted for dinner---out for the evening. The unfortunate thing was that the server did not mention that when I placed my order. So I finally decided upon another dish, which was to have included a salad or soup. Again, our server did not mention a "Caesar" salad would be an additional charge, not much, but was not expecting to pay additionally for them, (just saw the charges on the tab) as my SO and I both ordered one with our entrée. May seem like minor things---but all tolled--not the dining experience we were hoping for.
