Great food and service!
We love this restaurant! Its a perfect place to celebrate us! The staff is fabulous and I could go on and on about the fabulous food!
Made a reservation through open table and were not seated until an hour later.
Dirty silverware. I was served bottledbeer that expired eight months ago my wife was served a beer that expired six months ago.
Generally very good. The wait staff was a bit rushed....perhaps a bit of a slower less rushed pace would have made for a more relaxed meal but overall quite good.
We celebrated our Anniversary as we have many times here. Great place for special occasions.
Reservation for 7:15. Didn’t get our food until 8:30. Sorry, only one baked potato left. “Fries Ok?” With pork Marsala?
Waiter was obsequious. Dial it down dude!
That’s when he actually stopped at the table.
Food was great as always. Service has always been 5 star. Bad night? I’ll be back for the food and ambience. If the service is the same next time, I’m calling the owner.
Love Buona Sera -- excellent food. The service was slow but I think it's because the place has become so popular on weekends that they can't keep up with all the people/orders. This time I felt the pressure to leave so that our table could be merged with another to seat a larger group. I guess that's what happens when a small restaurant becomes so popular. Wine by the class is very limited -- for example, on liine a couple of Chianti options were listed and I planned on ordering the Chianti Classico but on the menu - i the only options are generic Chianti, Chardonnay, Cabernet, etc. -- all for $10 per glass. The Chianti wasn't good and the waitress couldn't tell me what it was other than the brand (which she had to go ask the bartender). Not really a wine bar.
Awesome as usual, best steaks in town, on top off their Italian menu
Buona Sera looks like a large stucco house in a well-kept neighborhood on the corner of Douglas Drive and West River Road in Champlin, but it’s anything but average or ordinary!
Buona Sera serves authentic Italian food, created and often personally prepared by the owner/chef, Raffaele Virgillo, a first-generation Italian. The authentic savory flavors are a combination of obviously genuine, fresh food—not pre-prepared elsewhere. The menu is simple and yet extensive—serving veal, pork, and pollo, with a variety of the most flavorful sauces I’ve ever eaten. From the Grill, perfectly aged New York strips, filet mignon, fresh salmon, and delectable lamb are served. Seafood is also on the menu, and often featured in the house specialties. Last night, I enjoyed a creamy fettuccini alfredo with a combination of scallops and shrimp at the personal recommendation of the owner/chef himself—a portion large enough for two meals. The butter, cream and parmesan were mouthwatering with delicious, fresh seafood! Crusty bread with flavored butters preceded our meal. The night was a special occasion, and the desserts—a Crème Brule and Tiramisu did not disappoint. The service matched the food...perfection and personable.
Buona Sera is exceptional—and my favorite restaurant. Even though I live nearby, this restaurant is worth driving across town for some of the most authentic, delectable food you will ever eat. Hard to believe that I only found it a couple years ago, when it’s been there for decades. Do make reservations—it’s only open for dinner Tuesday’s—Sunday’s—a true family business.
Great food. Mediocre at best service though, however it was probably just an off night, other servers have always been fantastic. This time we had more than one request forgotten about.
Love this place! Staff is extremely friendly, food is amazing and it gives a great welcoming feeling.
The food was good but the desert was lacking. The service was excellent and the setting was both lovely and intimate.
The cheesecake was terrible and appeared to be store bought. Store bought is not bad on its own, but at least get something good or not at all.
Great food and wonderful service. We celebrate special occasions here and we all commented as we were eating that we can always count on delicious food, a warm atmosphere and excellent service when we visit. It’s definitely our favorite restaurant.
It was absolutely perfect. Food was served hot and steaks were done just as we ordered. The
Waitress was very efficient.
We are always so pleased with Buona Sera. The staff is wonderful and the food is amazing!
Food and service was excellent! Definitely going to go back again.
We enjoyed the evening. It was my birthday and although they do not do anything extra for birthdays, it was a nice place to celebrate it.
The food was spectacular as always. Our server Rachel couldn't have been nicer or more efficient, as was the entire staff. Only bummer was where our reservation got us placed. I recognize Buona Sera is a smaller place which is normally part of the overall ambiance but our table, right by the front door across from the little bar, was atrocious. While I know they were packed, we were bringing friends who ironically live about 5 minutes away that had never been there before. I have eaten an Buona Sera literally dozens and dozens of times. Although it's always tight, I have never had such a horrible table and that was WITH an Open Table reservation.
Not sure when I'll be going back, but I don't expect my guests will be back anytime soon. 😡
My first meal here was better, but this one was pretty good. Their seafood options are awesome. Service is great.
The food was good just not what I was expecting.
Since it is such a small restaurant and people are sitting close to each other you can’t always hear the conversation.
The thing that made my night bad was someone had put on an excessive amount of perfume which gave me an instant headache, so we couldn’t really enjoy.
I've eaten in a lot of fine dining places throughout the United States, but Buona Sera is by far the very best. We are so lucky to have this fine family establishment, truly a hidden gem for decades, in Champlin.
The food was excellent as always. My sister from out of town enjoyed everything about her first visit to this restaurant, and loved the homemade Italian salad dressing, bread and Chicken Parmesan.
See note to restaurant below.
Never would have imagined you could find a fabulous Italian restaurant in Champlin of all places. The ambiance was so quaint, wonderful wine list and excellent service. The menu will please everyone and the specials are above and beyond. Can't wait to go back!!
Relaxing, good food, nice size portions, the owner / chef took the time to talk with us and a great server
Food was good. Waitress told us the owner was cooking and liked to take his time cooking. She was NOT kidding, took forever.
Awesome! Fantastic food. Will return.
On this occasion, it seems that both the kitchen and dining room were slightly understaffed. The wait times were a little longer than normal, but certainly worth the wait. Our meals were perfect and the service was just as friendly and personal as always. It is rare that we notice any sort of delays at Buona Sera and perhaps most people wouldn't have noticed, but we are semi-regulars and always enjoy dinner here whether we are celebrating a personal event or dining with friends.
We have been to Buona Sera 5 times and food was very good. Small and quiet atmosphere is awesome for our Thursday date nights. Will definitely return
I had purchased a groupon and never had been here before. It is a quaint place. While parking can be a challenge, it is worth it. I had surf and turf and the filet was amazing. One of the best steaks I have had in years. Whatever they marinate it with it is delicious. My friend had a pasta dish and it was out of this world with flavor. Neither one of us remember tasting something so good for pasta! The service was outstanding and they were always checking in with our table. I went with a friend so there was only two of us. We had conversations with guests at other tables -- very welcoming atmosphere. While the prices are expensive, it is what I would expect for such a great meal. Plan on spending some money but worth it for an occasional special night with friends or family. I plan on going back in a few months and it will be a new place to have an enjoyable night.
The food and service is always wonderful at Buona Sera. The atmosphere is enjoyable and a great idea to have a restaurant setting in a big old house, however, the noise level is terrible. If we aren't at a table along the window in the main dining room, it is almost impossible to have a conversation at the table while dining.
Great food. Great wine. Great friends!!
I have been going to Buona Sera for years now and each time its a great experience. The food is amazing and its hard to decide on a course, its all good! Nice atmosphere in a quiet neighbor hood.
We very much enjoyed our evening and meal at Buona Sera. Everything was exceptional and perfect!!! We are most anxious for our next visit and have made several recommendations to relatives and friends to enjoy the experience.
My husband and I had a delightful time celebrating our anniversary at Buona Sera. Kim was friendly and fun and all the staff were attentive. Food was delicious and prompt. The atmosphere was Italian and inviting. We will be back.
Fantastic food and ambiance! Great service as well! Friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive staff! Love this place!
Food is not what it used to be. Not sure we will be going back. Too bad; was a nice, neighborhood gem.
What can I say. Excellent Food, service and value. Location is awesome and very quaint
Was relaxing not rushed. We will go again. Enjoyed the food was high quality food.
