The food was outstanding, but the seating was to confined
I don’t know if it was just the Valentines Day special but this was by far the most unsatisfying dining experience of my entire life. Mediocre, over-priced food with zero space to move. The tables were so close together I could hear 10 conversations going on at once. Very unhappy with my choice to dine here.
A debacle from begging to end. Made a reservation through open table - only availability was 8:45pm - my bad I waited too late for Valentine’s Day reservation. Noticed several days later an 8pm opened up, called the restaurant directly to modify but was told the earlier time wasn’t available. So I hung up and modified the reservation on open table, didn’t make sense to me! Arrived 8pm and was immediately seated on the patio at a table for two. The small patio normally has great ambiance. However, this night the restaurant had squeezed in so many extra tables to accommodate the holiday that there was literally no room for a private conversation. Zero. The lights were too well lit removing any hopes of romance. Our first choice of wine was no longer available, which I can understand that happens sometimes. But come on. You know your restaurant is overbooked for Valentine’s Day, be prepared. We ordered from the prix fixe menu which had great variety. First course was fine, nothing special. The butternut squash ravioli tasted like Trader Joe’s, not bad but not amazing. Our dinners came out in good time but not what we ordered. Sent it back. 10 minutes later came again out with another server and still not what we ordered. 10 minutes later our correct meals arrived. To our dismay, the short ribs were bland and my lobster wasn’t worth the price. Dessert was super disappointing. We both ordered chocolate soufflé but when it arrived it definitely was unlike any soufflé I’ve ever had - it was cold chocolate in the bottom of a ramekin covered by a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Weird. Maybe the soufflé didn’t rise??? Anyway, the waiter apologized, rightly so, even though I’m not sure if any of it was his fault. Service was just ok which is unjustly expected on Valentine’s Day. It’s too bad restaurants sacrifice quality and experience by overbooking.
What a joke! So much for a Romantic evening on Valentines Day. Service was horrible! Waited over 30 minutes after ordering and no food. Server never explained why! All she said you don’t have you food yet, oh! Mgr. approached advising our order was lost and he would take care of it. No coffee or after dinner drinks offered with our deserts. Received the bill and we paid. No mgr. around! Server never ever apologize or explain the poor service! DO NOT RECOMMEND! Not worth the expense or time! Noise level was over the top! Two locals who will ever return!
It was really Fabulous for a Valentine date night dinner. The corn soup was the best! My husband had appetizer shrimp and it was huge. We had steak and lobster. Both very good. Desserts were good, too.
Good food and atmosphere and service.
I dine here regularly and it is great but this was a typical night out for Valentines Day... rushed and crowded with food being simplified for accommodating the crowds. Overall a nice evening and a very capable wait staff.
Loved everything about our Valentines dinner experience at The Bungalow!
Sean is the best waiter for 22 years and Kevin was very attentive as well. Great 3 course meal!
Service was fantastic and staff friendly and attentive.
The Bungalow is the place to go for a consistently excellent meal. We visit at least once a week. The Calamari is so good and do not miss out on their Corn Chowder it is phenomenal.
We dined at the Bungalow for lunch with out-of-town guests and it was superb. The food was excellent (including the appetizer salad and corn chowder soup), the service was fantastic, and the ambiance was very lovely. It was our first time to dine there and we will certainly return. Highly recommend the Bungalow.
Went for dinner on Monday evening. Were shown straight to a lovely booth. Our waiter asked us if we were celebrating anything so he could gage whether we wanted to take our time or be served quickly. Being from the UK we don’t like to be rushed so we appreciated this gesture. Drinks arrived and we asked for advice on wine list. Our waiter advised on a beautiful red that was not expensive, we were impressed as he could have pushed us towards a more expensive wine. I had the oysters followed by the fillet and my husband had calamari salad followed by fillet. We shared sides of sprouts and creamed corn. No room for dessert but can honestly say the food was some of the best we have ever had. It was not cheap but we believe you only get what you pay for. The food, drinks and ambiance were fabulous and the service (think his name was Chris) was outstanding! We will definitely go back when we return to the area.
The Bungalow was a real treat.
Three of us friends came to celebrate a birthday and we had a wonderful time.
The BEST part of our experience was our delightful server who took very good care of us.
My dining companions LOVED their meals.
My meal was delicious, but lacked a special something... I had the Cobb Salad (lunch). The salad was adequate, but lacking in substance and, quite frankly, mostly lettuce with the usual Cobb Salad pieces scattered around. It really didn't deserve to the $17 price tag.
Above all, I must reiterate that the service was exceptional, AND the manager (?) came around a couple of times to ask if everything was alright.
And everything really WAS alright.
Our server brought us a special birthday dessert of vanilla ice cream and warm chocolate. YUM!
The Bungalow was even better than I thought it was going to be. I will be taking my wife back again next month.
Love the spinach goat cheese salad & the Chilean sea bass entree. Don't forget to start with the grilled artichoke!!
Awesome service and amazing Steaks! Great job Bungalow!
Hostess did not want to give us a Goble’s in the main dining room as it was “reserved”! My friends salmon was way over cooked.
All Good, been there several times and never had a bad meal..........................
Bungalow is both a neighborhood favorite and a special occasion venue -- broad menu, great service, nice ambiance.
The attention to detail from the staff, the kitchen, even the management is always outstanding here.
Great food. Great service. Was disappointed when we got there and had to wait 45 minutes to get a table considering we had a reservation, but overall a good experience. Our waitress was great and Sea Bass was excellent.
Salad was not good. One medium steak was very red throughout (undercooked) but good quality. Sauce wasn’t loved by all. Desert was good but small portions. The busboy didn’t know to pick up from The right and scared one of the guest by almost dropping a plate on her. The busboys, while unappreciae wanting to pick up empty plates or
Felt intrusive. It would be better to allow someone to have an empty plate for an extra minute or two and clear
The entire table. I didn’t look at the bill but it also seemed like there was a surcharge or something I don’t recall ordering. The tables are also very close together.
Great food, drink and service. Still miss the library but the new remodel does look good.
Absolutely fabululous restaurant. Kudos to the chef. The lamb was cooked to perfection and the halibut couldn't have been better. Definitely be back soon.
We loved the food and the ambiance and the experience over all!
Have not been in a long time and very happy we tried again. Food was great. Had the scallops and pork chops. Both were excellent. The outdoor area was really nice and cozy with the fireplace. Waiter was very attentive. Overall, great meal.
Great evening, great service, very nice place.
Great spot, the issue is that our food was slightly above average. Maybe I need to know their specialties
Perennial Excellence in every aspect of our experience. One can always count on this restaurant to provide a first class experience. The staff, from the owner on down, cares about you and your happiness. Bravo, again
We enjoyed sitting outside
Great food and service!
We went during restaurant week and the food was great! Highly recommend the lobster. Our server, Heather, was a delight! We had a great seat on the back patio in front for the fireplace that made the ambience wonderful. The manager checked on us a few times and was super nice! We will be back!
After getting ourselves moved from an unappealing and noisy downstairs room, we were put in a
Lovely intimate room w’ good ambience and service. Our dinner was beyond our expectations.
A fixed price dinner; we had lobster tail, Petit Filet, and sea bass, and all were excellent.
One of the best seabass I’ve ever had. Also a very good salad, and chocolate mousse dessert, in a
Dark chocolate shell. Will go back and recommend it.
Price is too high for food quality and quantity.. I know it's Newport and you think you can get away with it..
Came on restaurant week and it was Just as like we were top notch customers. The food was wonderful and the staff was great. We had lamb and Seabass. Both were cooked to perfection and their martinis are excellent
Dined during NB Restaurant week - wonderful menu, great service - food was outstanding!!
Dined here for restaurant week and loved it! Sat in the back patio which had a nice ambiance and was warm with the heaters.
Our waiter delightful where everything starts, the ambiance awesome, love the booths, yummy meal, great martini.
Great place, great staff, resturant.
Don't over look our favorite place.
Always love everything about the Bungalow
