Bumble Ratings and Reviews
I was shocked to see the horrible decline at Bumble! I will never step foot in there again!
#1: We had reservation at 1pm and arrived at 12:20; we were told by the hostess there are no tables available until 1pm. While waiting there, we could clearly see empty tables available but she made us wait the 40 minutes. And even after we were seated at 1:00pm, there were still empty tables around us!
#2: It was a bright and beautiful sunny day but all the window shades were drawn closed and all lights inside were off, therefore creating this gloomy and claustrophobic "attic" atmosphere.
#3: The hostess was arranging the chairs around the table behind us and was literally banging the metal chairs so loud on the floor that we noticed all customers were turning heads to see what the noise was.
#4: The comfortable chairs/sofas have all been replaced with very uncomfortable metal chairs with narrow backs, making it even more uncomfortable to lean back and relax.
#5: Their menu items have been drastically reduced. The flat breads are gone, the salads that were so delicious before are now just 'so-so' and very bland.
#6: The sliced carrots in my child's meal was old and stale with black skin (old) and the soybean was wrinkled up (old) - not fresh at all whatsoever.
#7: The chicken wrap indicates, "shaved red onion" but you get thick sliced onion rings which overpower the taste of the whole wrap. The salad was so wet with dressing.
#8: We had two orders of chicken wraps and one order of sliders (kid's menu). They brought my child's sliders so late (because "they were cooking") that by the time they brought it, we were done with our wraps.
Unfortunately, we will never return there again and what a waste of $$$ for the food and service.
Bumble was great. Great decor, cute fish in the fish tank will entertain young and not so young for sure. Very home like feeling, which I adored. The food was really good, especially the sunrise sandwich. And I loved their cappuccino.
Maybe not the best spot if you don’t like kids, but amazing if you have your own or don’t mind the noise.
Such a cute, cozy place- but we went there for lunch and it was extremely noisy. Lots of little ones screeching and banging silverware. I love kids but I couldn't even hear my friend across the table and there were a lot more young children than most restaurants. The food was OK- nothing special. Great service. Best thing is the atmosphere- I would go again if I could find a time when children didn't dominate the scene.
Service was good, everything else was average. Ambiance for which we chose this place was non-existent. Private party had overtaken the main room, the kitchen area was incredibly smelly and noisy, the only option was outside which again gets no points for ambiance. Great idea for play space and restaurant but doesn’t work as well in practice.
Went here on a Saturday morning because they take reservations and we were afraid there would be wait at our other two options. Upon walking in, no one was at the greeting station so we waited a moment (no big deal) but as the hostess approached we did not even get a smile as she asked if we had a reservation. She asked if we wanted to sit outside or inside so we chose inside as it was a chilly morning out. As she led us to a tiny table right next to a big party with children lying on the floor on scattered throw pillows, my husband's face must have shown the panic he was feeling as one of the parents of aforementioned children took one of the pillows off the floor and placed it on the seat we were to sit it. The hostess then offered to seat us outside on the patio. If she had told us previously that the patio was heated and for adults only, we could have avoided that awkward encounter.
Anyway, I ordered the avocado toast to see what the fuss is all about and my husband ordered the breakfast burrito. I feel that $15 is a bit much for a slice of thick bread smeared with some avocado and arugula plus 2 slices of bacon, and the breakfast burrito was a little bland compared to others we have had. The salsa verde made it better but there was such a small amount of it on the side that we had to flag someone down to ask for more so my husband could finish his breakfast.
Bottom line, I wouldn't come back but if you have kids and want them to be able to roam freely or lie on the floor, then this might be the place for you.
Our experience was horrible, starting from the front of house who would only give us a table that fit the 3 of us if we promised to give it back in an hour. Bees and hornets surrounded our table the entire meal. The food was tasteless.
The best entrée is the pink waffle with bacon. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
What an ingenious idea! I'm a busy working mother with two children. At times, I just want to take my eyes off my kids for a moment and sit back, know that they are within the vicinity so that I can enjoy good food and a nice drink, feeling carefree in an inviting, cozy nook in Los Altos. Bumble is situated in a craftsman's house that has been redone to fit your family's needs and for that parent who needs a refuel every once in a while. Charming atmosphere!
Loved sitting outside under the shade of the big tree, and listening to the birds and people. The food was simply amazing, and the Pomegranate Mimosa was so yummy, I'm still dreaming about it. The staff was really on top of it, asking if we needed drink refills, checking on us and just above the usual wait staff, superb!
This is the only place I have found where you can have a nice meal while watching your small child have a great time in the sandbox. Sadly, the service this last time was terrible. All five entrees were brought out separately, with the last entree 10 minutes (at least) behind the first.
other aspects of service were poor also. The server was very polite & friendly, perhaps they were understaffed somewhere?
Food is good but perhaps a little pricey for what you are getting. Kids meal in particular is overpriced.
Main attraction with this venue is the kid friendly environment. Great play room area and sand pit out front.
Would mainly go here as great place to keep them occupied as opposed to the amazing food
Great fresh, local organic ingredients. Vegetarian and vegan friendly. Friendly service. Good family spot with young children. They have an outside sandbox for kids in the middle of the tables so that parents can eat too! Even without kids it's an excellent brunch spot.
If you enjoying eating at a daycare, this place is for you. Parents let their kids run around and walk around with them like it’s a playground. The “adult section” is still open to the noise of children screaming and crying outside.
Really only good if you have kids. Its like eating in one big playground. We even sat in the adult only section but could still hear the crying, screams etc. and then using the restroom! five crying kids in line.. all tired. Service.. server nice but took our order without our drinks even there. never came back to check on us. We tried to flag her down with no avail. what is it with servers that never look over at their tables? we all sat there with dirty plates and she brought our check. didn't even pick up one plate. Breakfast scramble, served with no muffin or toast.. really? and it wasn't that great. My salad with chicken (dried)was not that great either. our friends just ok.
We have grown kids. I get it.. but we we not be back. Would be cute though if it wasn't over run with high chairs, strollers and running around kids.
We went here for Father's day breakfast and it was just OK. The service was not what I had expected. We asked for a high chair which the server forgot. We ordered drinks and my daughter's apple juice came much after our drinks and I had to follow-up on. I think its a cute place and fun for kids. But thats about it. There is nothing special about the food or the service.
You need to make sure the people in the kid play out area explain parents what's expected out of them. I went there with my child to learn later that parents aren't allowed in that area. Unfortunately, the two people working there weren't very communicative. Please tell parents, communicate... If I'm going to leave my child with you I expect you to talk to him!
Very disappointing. Like several others reviewers also experienced, even though we had an OpenTable reservation, we were forced to sit outside near a sandbox filled with loud kids because of a 'private event' inside and frankly, management didn't seem to care. Bumble even called to confirm several days prior and should have informed us of this issue beforehand.
Bumble has unfortunately gone downhill and we'll be looking elsewhere.
Food was delicious! The organic fruit drink was tasty but pricey. We would like to return for a cocktail and/or dessert or to linger - we didn't have a lot of time unfortunately. However, we did get a huge chocolate chip cookie to take with us - this was a good decision - it was really good.
This was a great experience for us as parents of a 1 year old and 3 year old. We were able to send our kids to the playroom (where they even got a hot meal) while we had our dinner in peace but could still spot them. Some might consider the food simple but it was cooked well, tasted great, and was attractive to look at. I will give admit that if you don't like garlic, this may not be the place for you. The sugar on the top of the creme brulee should have been a little more caramelized, but we were having such a good time that it didn't matter. We'll be back when they do it again.
Bumble has really gone downhill. It used to be clean, delicious and a unique place that is tailored to families.
Now it's overpriced mediocre at best food, painfully slow service and is in disrepair (they removed the outdoor plant installation and left a stained dirty wall, the outdoor furniture is worn and dusty and the bathrooms were filthy without TP when I visited). Their juices used to be giant and are now small glasses for $9! A kids' meal is close ~$16-18! A latte is $6 which even exceeds the price in SF.
Don't waste your money for this subpar experience.
Ordered Sweet Tooth, a brioche soaked in maple syrup with slices of bananas. Surprisingly the left over for next day was just as good and fresh as eaten in the restaurant. Other family members had the quiche and raved about the freshness of ingredients. Inside was cooked just right. Kid's meal inviting and served in good bite sizes. A bit disappointed couldn't get a cappuccino topped with the bear face design as they advertised. Got a heart instead which the grand kids wowed. A decent place to have good organic food.
Nice staff but slow service even though the restaurant was not full - plenty of open tables.
The menu has changed since previous owners. Food is so so. Kids did not like the gluten free pasta or mac n cheese. There is no alternative pasta option.
The prices are expensive for what the food quality is.
Food: Not too bad. Large portions. I got the breakfast scramble and there was a good tablespoon or two of unappetizing brown liquid at the bottom of the bowl? Also got a Soy Vanilla Latte and that was amazing 5/5 would recommend!
Noise Level/Ambience: Two words. CRYING. TODDLERS. The noise was honestly quite annoying as I was trying to catch up with a friend over Sunday brunch (10:30AM). If you plan on going I recommend sitting on the adult-only patio.
3/5, would go back for the coffee at a better time during the school week.
