Bully's East is conveniently located in the heart of Mission Valley. As you enter, you feel the warmth of the rich mahogany bar. Locals have been gathering here for four decades to enjoy their favorite beverages and great bar food. It's also the perfect place to view a sporting event. Since its establishment, Bully's East has served more prime rib than any other San Diego restaurant, preparing only USDA Choice, Midwestern, corn-fed, aged beef. It also offers many healthy dining options. Chef Luis Martinez and his culinary staff continually create new dishes, taking advantage of the freshest local produce and seafood to bring diners the best possible culinary experience. Enjoy fine dining in this relaxed environment with over 45 years of experience and tradition. Make sure you save room for Bully's sinful desserts like the Chocolate Lava Cake.
Bully's has been one of our family's "go to" restaurants in San Diego since it opened, so when it came to where we were going to celebrate my Mom's 95th birthday, naturally Bully's was our choice! Our waitress (I wish I remembered her name) was WONDERFUL; cheerful, attentive and knew we were celebrating a very special birthday! Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal selections (we all ordered from the specials of the day)! The waitress brought my Mom a special birthday dessert...and plenty of forks, so we could all share! We will definitely be back soon...probably as soon as Mother's Day!
Everyone was perfect!!! Thank you so much for your service and hospitality!!!
Haven't been here since 1985, and it still looks the same (that's a good thing), and the food is still outstanding and reasonably priced. My "new" go to for Sunday Brunch!
Bully's has been around for a long time. Known for the very good prime rib in a variety of portions. But for a change, ordered the swordfish, which was very good. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. Generous portions. The early bird special is an excellent meal for the reduced price. The mud pie dessert is always a treat.
Prices are very reasonable. Service is great.
Lots of sports programs on the TVs.
Bully's has sadly been on a steady decline. I think this was our last visit.
Bully's may have the best prime rib in town, and the Bully Burgers are always good, too. A very cool old school restaurant--not many of these left in San Diego, unfortunately. Service is usually much better than it was, very slow and inattentive on this visit.
Being in San Diego, you can always expect a wait in line for brunch on a Sunday. Double if it’s a holiday. We had 11am reservations and were very surprised that the place was not jam packed. We have been there before for fights, and games on sundays. It can definitely get right in there.
The staff is always amazing and we had the best time in our Easter brunch there.
I can’t hold my enthusiasm for this place, really one of my fav places to get great food and cool atmosphere in San Diego.
Great food and service
We made the reservation. Really enjoyed the food! The minute we paid our bill the waitress says, "We need this table for another reservation. Please leave soon." Felt thoroughly victimized when the hostess told us on the way out that anyone with a reservation has the table for two hours. We had been there just over an hour. SAD!
Usually go for breakfast and their progressive mimosas, but went for the prime rib and it didn’t disappoint. I recommend getting it with the horseradish crust. I love this spot!
We made a reservation which worked out very well; we were greeted and seated immediately. With over an hour to have our meal, I thought we had plenty of time before having to depart to the Airport. We got our drinks, and were served some bread fairly soon after arrival. Then it was a lot longer before our salads arrived. Well, after an hour we regretfully had to leave to be on time for our son's flight departing san diego. The waitress was very apologetic, but we left without getting our meals.
Food was wonderful but the service - YIKES!
Even though St. Patty's Day, the place was not too busy. Our server Hannah? must have been new or overloaded?
At the beginning of dinner, ordered a second drink. Come to find out, they "ran" out of the ingredients but then the drink came after we finished dinner. They subbed in my drink with margarita mix :( then we told them it was my husband's birthday dinner. He picked a "free dessert" but they ended up charging us for it.
Just really disappointed. They are usually really good but not that night. :(
Food was delicious! The quality of the New York steak was great and it was cooked well. The Horseradish Crusted Prime Rib was good, but the “crust” seemed to be just panko crumbled on top. Baked potato, broccoli, brussel sprouts, and the wedge salad were excellent! Our service started strong, but unfortunately our waitress got slammed with tables due to a sick co-worker so towards the end she disappeared.
Overall great experience and a wonderful ambiance!
Great food and great service! Would highly recommend the prime rib!
Very happy with food and service. Table is cozy booth. Thank you.
Always accommodating!!! Best prime rib....hands down!!!!
Bully's East is like this area's Cheers. Friendly people, great food and drinks and priced right.
Wanted to give it 5 stars across the board, just missed a specially requested table ( which they confirmed earlier) for our anniversary but parked us in the back by the kitchen.
The whole atmosphere was fun and engaging. The food was good but the surf and turf special had a really thin cut ribeye on both that were ordered. Thus I ordered it medium rare but it came out well done. The ribeye was about 1/4" - 3/8' thick. I would have rather had a smaller piece of ribeye that was cut normally so I could enjoy the flavor of the meat more.
Bully's is a sports bar that is too expensive. It has a 1960's atmosphere that needs up-dating.
Everyone is very friendly and the service is very good. Happy hour's 1/2 price on a bottle of wine was very generous.
Overall, we enjoyed our meal, but since I am from North County I don't think I will return.
Been coming here for years. Food is great, notably the prime rib. The prices have gotten a bit high but if you enjoy the good old fashioned atmosphere and really generous drinks of an established restaurant with good food, this is a place for you.
Not near as good as it Was. Avoid the beef stroganoff! Mediocre steaks. All the food is just OK, certainly nothing special. It’s better to think of it as a sports bar that serves steaks, and not the real steakhouse it once was.
Went for a birthday and the experience was awesome. Food was great, Kayley (sp) was great, overall worth every Penney spent.
All good food and service. We enjoy Bully's often. Thanks for another great meal.
A classic place for good friends, great prime rib that they are famous for, and a well rounded menu of other options. Friendly and respectful staff. Definitely a must go.
Best prime rib ever!! The salad definitely needs an upgrade though!
No hostess for me to check in with for my reservation so I just sat myself at the bar. So I don’t know if I was credited for the reservation points (if there were any).
Horseradish crusted prime rib! OMG! So good!! Such tender meat and cooked to proper order (Medium). Great service (Jeanie) and wonderful atmosphere! Awesome super bowl dinner!!! I will return anytime I'm in San Diego!!!
Great food. A little pricey
Unfortunately it was a bad night for the kitchen, otherwise food and service good.
Our go to spot for the best prime rib in San Diego. I always use Open Table to reserve a table when we're in the mood for a steak or prime rib and usually don't have to wait long to get seated.
The steak was awesome but tghe vbacon wrpped scallops were very disappointing...not fully cooked and only partially grilled.
Been a while since being there. Nothing has changed. Still the same great food, ambiance and service. If you haven't been there, you need to go. Great experience.
Excellent food, great prices & good service!
Been a patron for over 34 years.
Food was way below the normal level of expectation. Service was below perfunctory.
Prices inflated for lack of presentation and overall pride of product.
So yummy! The prime rib was amazing - the Au jus was on the saltier side.
Not as good as usual- food is usually very good- just OK on this date. Service was good, cocktails were good.
Bully’s is a great oldtime restaurant and bar with good food and service! I recommend Bully’s if you want a delicious rib eye or prime rib and cocktails! The early bird specials are reasonable!
We made reservations for lunch on New Year's Eve. After having a lovely lunch last year at the same date and time we were very disappointed with our meal and service. Last year we were able to order from the regular dinner menu. This year we were told they had a limited menu and were unable to order some of our favorite meals. We had to ask for silverware, we weren't offered any bread, I ordered my prime rib medium rare, it came well done so I had to send it back.
None of the things are earth shattering, just disappointing. I could understand it if the restaurant was super busy, but I only saw 5 tables with other customers. Then when I got home I received a message from Open Table asking why I hadn't shown up for my reservation at Bully's, even though we walked in and told them we had a reservation. ...ugh!
