Bully's East Prime Bistro Sports Bar
Bully's East is conveniently located in the heart of Mission Valley. As you enter, you feel the warmth of the rich mahogany bar. Locals have been gathering here for four decades to enjoy their favorite beverages and great bar food. It's also the perfect place to view a sporting event. Since its establishment, Bully's East has served more prime rib than any other San Diego restaurant, preparing only USDA Choice, Midwestern, corn-fed, aged beef. It also offers many healthy dining options. Chef Luis Martinez and his culinary staff continually create new dishes, taking advantage of the freshest local produce and seafood to bring diners the best possible culinary experience. Enjoy fine dining in this relaxed environment with over 45 years of experience and tradition. Make sure you save room for Bully's sinful desserts like the Chocolate Lava Cake.
The waitress was great! Compared to the food quantity & quality of what I’m used to, the price has gone up & the quality AND quantity have gone down. Just doesn’t feel as worth it anymore, where this was my go-yo place for all my celebrations before .
All the food we got was terrible and too salty, and I like salt in my food. The atmosphere and staff were nice, but for the price point the steak quality, flavor, and prep were all disappointing.
Great place for a nice night out, not very expensive but enough to know your getting good food!
I had a great experience. Prime rib was juicy, tasty, and done to perfection. Drinks were great! Service by Denise and Skylar was exemplary! I’ll be back soon.
We will try it again, just not on a holiday. We had reservations for Mother’s Day dinner. They sat us in the corner of the party room that had a party of 20. We couldn’t enjoy conversation and my elderly parents couldn’t hear us talk. We didn’t have the attention of the large part of course. Our table was missing the Mother’s Day flowers that all the other tables had. With a party of 20, our service was slow, had to ask for the bread. Ordered 5 desserts, they brought 2 and we had to wait 15 minutes for the other 3. Waitress was overwhelmed but sweet. But we definitely felt like an afterthought.
Haven’t been to Bully’s for some time and not much has changed. Food was very good as usual, I had the rib bones and spouse had the Mother’s Day special sea bass. Only drawback was we were seated in a booth next to the bar, so was quite noisy and getting attention of our server took some effort. Next time I’ll ask fore a table in a different area!
Terrible service !!! We have been going to Bully’s for the last 40 years this will be our last time .
The prime rib is always delicious at Bully's. Sadly our most recent visit was a little disappointing. My Mom's 8oz cut was larger than my 11oz cut. The meat itself was excellent though. I was brought the wrong side dish so my server took the side back while I waited for the correct one. I was halfway done with my meal before the disappointing mac and cheese arrived. She probably should have left the original side so I would have at least had something to accompany my entree. The mac and cheese was always tasty in the past, I'm hoping this was just a bad day. Our server was slow and she often forgot basics... delivering ketchup with fries, bread/butter with salads, etc. Anything we asked for took forever. She brought our check at the end without even inquiring if we wanted dessert... Oh well! Service could definitely improve but if you're looking for tasty prime rib, this is your place.
Our Mother's Day experience was excellent excellent service the food was timed absolutely perfectly and cooked to Perfection thank you so much
Best value especially for weekend breakfast. Wish they would resume the meatloaf.
I took my mom to Bully's for Mother's Day and it was even my first time ever going there.Well we were happy we came I had even brought my 14 daughter along and she loved it also we all have found a new spot. The food was great we had the salmon and prime rib borh were melt in your mouth great.
Rachel, our server was fantastic! Attention to detail was phenomenal. I would ask for her every time!
Waitress was not very attentative had to keep calling her over.
Great! I really enjoyed the prime rib
There French Toast was so great! Our prime rib hash could have been warmer
It was my brother Juniors Celebration of Life on May 2nd. The place he hung out with friends. I would highly recommend this restaurant! Very professional, nice staff. Thank you for all you do!
Went to Sunday Brunch for my Birthday. Excellent food & very nice variety.. definitely will be back and highly recommend.
Hands-down the best steaks in San Diego. The bartender also makes an awesome Manhattan!
We enjoy the casual atmosphere, the food is delicious, and the staff is engaging and efficient. Our server, Ryleigh, was delightful.
A very good dinner. The service was good, but uneven. Good atmosphere.
Amanda was an amazing server!
Best tossed Cobb and prime rib!
We went here for my birthday, I ordered the prime rib and was not impressed by it’s size. Everything was good… But just good… Not great. We will give it another try.
Bully’s East is always dependable for a pleasant meal. The meat had gone down in cut but the prices are still affordable. Waited forever for silverware even after I received my salad. Been going to Bully’s for 40 years. The manager is not as good as when Howard was the manager.
My husband and I decided at the last moment to try Bully's East. On the plus side, our service was excellent. Our server was pleasant and accommodating. I ordered a cocktail that didn't appeal to me, and she offered to replace it. The second option was stellar. Everyone, from the young lady who seated us, to the server, to the young man who cleared our dishes was absolutely fantastic! We loved that this was, at heart, a sports bar that also served food. The interior was dated, but in a charming way.
On the negative side, parking was challenging. We had to park in the neighboring lot, which involved a fairly steep, broken concrete descent to the Bully's East lot. It was nice to have a way to still park, but the lot has seen better days, especially for anyone wearing heels. There were many menu items that looked tasty. We went with a shrimp cocktail (FANTASTIC!), and prime rib dinners, mine with a side of brussels sprouts, my husband's with a loaded baked potato, and the apple dessert (also fabulous). We agreed the prime rib, which the restaurant is known for, was fatty and under-seasoned. The steaks were no where near the tastiness of prime rib we have had elsewhere. My brussels sprouts were bland as well. I was very disappointed. At some point, you don't want to be that diner who sends everything back, but I think that would have been our only option to leave 100% happy. My husband's potato, however, was stellar!
You should go here, for sure, but get a cut that is blackened or horseradish crusted. The folks who work here WANT you to be happy, no question, which is why we want to go back. We have learned to be more savvy in how to order. I hope this review helps future diners as well.
A cozy place to go to get some comfort food. We will certainly come back while on travel.
This is the restaurant I took my sister to 44 years ago on her 21st birthday. The entire staff was so friendly and made the start of her 65th birthday celebration wonderful.
Went to Bully’s to celebrate my birthday with friends. Food was good and had a great time. Highly recommended.
So good. glad we came. My brother was from out of town and he loved it
Food was just OK, very dark restaurant in general. A little expensive for the quality
Pretty mediocre food. Not the worst food I've had, but by no means was it great. pretty bland prime rib. my girlfriends burger was subpar. Definitely not worth the price. I will not be returning.
Since the closure of Bully's North, Bully's East has been our go to when we down in the area. Although the feel of the restaurant isn't the same as North was, the food and service are fantastic as usual.
Went at 5:00 asked for Shrimp and Steak special. Was told they were all out! At 5:00!! Had Filet mignon instead. Food took a long time to come out. I don’t even think it was Filet mignon it was tough and dry. I am a big fan of Bully’s and have been going there for a long time but tonight was a total off night and I was really disappointed. It will be a while before I go back
The prime rib sandwich was just awful. Small overcooked pieces on two pieces of sourdough bread. If you remember the original sandwich at Bully's in Del Mar, this one will be sure to disappoint.
Filet tournedos were overcooked -- med. well instead med. rare. And they were cold. Other foods were fine. Waitress was efficient and courteous, but service was very slow. I believe that was because the restaurant was full and very busy. Will probably avoid Fridays in the future.
The service was great from the time we arrived till the time we left. The Happy Hour drinks, appetizers, main course, and desserts were all incredible. The Owner interacted with our party and was most accommodating. I recommend this restaurant to anyone celebrating a special occasion.
The Salmon special on the 17th of March was outstanding.
Steak was tough my prime rib was dry very disappointed
The menu has changed dramatically and there are no longer potato skins!? We like the classic menu. The atmosphere is still great but service not so much. Entree took a really long time to come out and the host didn't check our Open Table reservation off. This was my husband's birthday - Bully's was formerly his favorite prime rib. Next year he doesn't want to go there. Bummer.
Used a coupon we received in the mail. It was a great value for all we were given.
Had a great little booth, wonderful server and the great prime rib that Bully’s is known for. Could not have been any better:). Many thanks for a great dinner.
